Part 33 Analysation

Khushi looked at Arnav with disbelief.

"What did you say?"

"I said, your Uncle Arvind, the palace king, is my father."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, I'm his son... that means he is my mother's husband..."

Khushi opened her mouth wide, touching her chest.

"You...are...son... of... the King?"

Arnav nodded.

"How do you know? Did Gorakha Siddha say?"

"Uncle Arvind himself said."

Khushi widened her eyes.

"Did he know you are his son? Was that why he offered you a job in the palace?"

"No... at that time, he didn't know I was his son. He learned that when he saw my mother's photo in my purse."

"Did he say so?"

Arnav nodded yes.

"I'm at a loss for words..." Khushi managed a faint smile, but her expression betrayed her disbelief and confusion.

"I'm as lost as you are. I don't know how to react..." Arnav admitted that his own emotions were in turmoil.

"But how can you be so composed?" Khushi couldn't help but ask, her feelings a jumble.

"What do you want me to do? Should I fly?" he chuckled.

"Are not you angry with your father for leaving your mother?"

"I was... I was angry with him even after reading my mother's letter because I thought my mom was trying to save guard him as usual. She didn't even mention who my father was because she didn't want me to create a scene in his life..."

"Of course, anyone in your place would do that..."

"I would have done the same if I had not met Sathya Narayana. I would have clutched my father's collar for leaving my mother helpless..."

"But you fought with Uncle Arvind after meeting Sathya Narayana for lying to you..."

"At that time, that was the only problem I had. That's why I didn't mind about his matter."

"Personal matter? What personal matter?"

"Do you know who Sathya Narayana is?"

"He is Uncle's enemy."

"He BECAME an enemy..."

"What do you mean?"

"They were best friends until my father married Ratna Madam."

"But why?"

"It's because Sathya Narayana loved Ratna Madam, but her brothers didn't give him heed and got her married to my father."

"This is what the reason for their rivalry?"

"Not only that. Sathya Narayana knows about my father's love affair with my mother. So, he asked him to run away from the wedding hall. So that he could marry Ratna Madam, but my father didn't do it because he thought my mother was dead. So, he thought running away from the marriage would humiliate his father. That angered Sathya Narayana and caused the rivalry between him and my father."

"Did Ratna aunty love him too?"

"No, she didn't even know about Sathya Nayarana's love for her."

"Then why is he angry with Uncle Arvind?"

"He thought having another girl in his life; he didn't give up on Ratna Madam, and adding to it, it seems my father didn't accept Ratna Madam easily. That angered him more."

"Oh, so he thought, Arvind uncle intentionally married to Ratna aunty and irritated him without accepting her as his wife..."

"Exactly..."

"But, why Uncle Arvind didn't consider Sathya Narayana's love for Ratna Aunty?"

"I, too, can't understand that..."

"Did he talk to Uncle Arvind directly about it?"

"No, he sent a message through someone."

"Did Uncle receive the message?"

"He replied too..."

Khushi nodded her head from left to right.

"Something is fishy... I can confidently say, Arvind uncle would not have married to her if he had known about his friend's love."

"What do you think?"

"His message would not have reached Uncle Arvind. Someone might have played in between them." Khushi said.

"How are you saying?"

"I've been staying in the Palace since I reached this village. I know people. Royal life is not a simple thing. People would die to get it. They would do anything to become a ROYAL."

Khushi said thoughtfully.

"Do you think someone who wanted Ratna madam to be the Queen might have hidden the message from my father?"

Khushi nodded yes.

"And her brothers are my top suspects."

"Why not it be the old king? He would also have done that to save his pride." Arnav guessed.

Khushi nodded affirmatively and asked,

"Why not you talk to Uncle Arvind about Sathya Narayana?"

"I, too, want to talk to him and know if he knows about his message."

"Mmm..."

Khushi was supposed to say something, but she stopped seeing Madhavi getting down from the car. She frowned as she could not guess what Madhavi was up to. Seeing her changed facial expression, Arnav turned around and saw Madhavi coming towards him smilingly.

That was when something sparkled in Khushi's mind.

"Arnav sir, does anyone know you are Uncle Arvind's son?" She asked in a feeble tone.

Arnav nodded no hurriedly.

"No... no way... no one knows about it."

"What if Uncle Arvind spoke to someone about it other than you?" She asked, glancing at Madhavi.

Arnav became thoughtful. He remembered what Khushi said a few minutes ago.

'People would do anything to become a ROYAL. They would even die.'

Did the matter leak? Did Madhavi get to know his identity? Arnav doubted.

"Hi, Arnav..." Madhavi tapped his shoulder.

Arnav turned towards her.

"What?" He raised his left eyebrow.

"I just came to see how the temple is getting ready..."

"It's completely ready, and you came to see that now...?" He mocked.

"No... I mean..."

"I don't have time to entertain you. Excuse me..." Arnav walked.

"Do you have time to talk to Khushi?" She asked, could not hold herself.

Arnav looked at her, shrinking his eyes dangerously.

"Who are you to question me?" He asked, heating up.

"No, no... I just am disappointed seeing you avoiding me."

"I won't be friendly with high-class people. I'm a low-class man after all..."

"No, Arnav. You are not a low-class guy..."

Arnav and Khushi spared a glance.

"I mean... I didn't think of you like that." Madhavi managed.

"But, I can't think that way. Please...stay... away..." He walked away.

Madhavi gulped her anger. That had not gone unnoticed by Khushi. She was sure that Madhavi knew something about Arnav and Arvind's relationship. Or, at least, she would have doubts about their relationship. So, she decided to watch Madhavi.

Arnav's mood was off. Khushi was right; Madhavi had a reason to be behind him. He was irritated. What kind of woman she was! How shamelessly behind him just because he was an heir of the Palace! But how did she know about it? He walked thinking about it and stopped seeing Arvind's car on the opposite side. Arvind got down, seeing Arnav.

"Are you going to the Palace?" He asked.

Arnav nodded no.

"No... I just..."

"Ok... I'm going to the temple. Are you coming?"

Arnav nodded.

"Come..."

Arnav saw Madhavi looking at them from the temple.

"I will come on foot," Arnav said.

"Arnav..."

"Please..."

"I will also walk with you."

"No. Let me be me. Otherwise, I will leave this village... forever."

Arvind looked at him shockingly.

"This is a simple matter. Why are you talking like this, Arnav?"

"No... A walking KING is not a simple matter..."

"Likewise, a walking Prince is also not a simple matter..."

"If I can't do what I like, I don't like to be a Prince. Please don't try to suppress me with the damn title."

"Is anything wrong?"

Arnav sighed and nodded yes.

"Won't you tell me?"

"Madhavi is behind me. She is behaving cheesy, which irritates me like hell."

"Madhavi?" Arvind frowned.

"Yes. You Know I love Khushi. It won't change for any reason. If anyone tried to change it, I will walk away taking Khushi with me."

"When I'm with you, why are you bothering unnecessarily?"

"Ok... you go. I will come."

Arvind sighed and sat in the car. Arnav followed him. Arvind got out of the car and looked at Madhavi.

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to see the temple, uncle."

"We should come to the temple to worship, not to just see."

"I mean the work..."

"What's a new habit like this? There are many people to look after it. You don't have to do it..." he said strictly.

Madhavi fumed. This father and son were so irritating. By now, Arnav reached the temple.

"Arnav is also coming to the temple. You could have brought him with you in the car..." She asked.

"I called. He didn't come..." Arvind said as if he expected that.

"But, why uncle? He ought to listen to you whatever you say..." She said, looking at Arnav.

"He will resign from the job and leave the village if I force him for ANYTHING. I don't want him to do it." Arvind intentionally said and walked.

Arnav threw a mockery look at Madhavi and added to it,

"Khushi, I forgot to tell you an important matter. Come..." he walked to Khushi casually.

To be continued...
