Part 59: Turning Point

"Did your wedding fix? With whom?" Ratna asked stammering.

"With Khushi... I love her. I will marry her with your blessings if you have no problem. Or else, I will leave this village, taking her with me... that's final," Arnav said clearly.

"Khushi?" Ratna looked at Khushi, who stood up, leaving the food unfinished.

"Haan, being a Prince, he wants to marry a servant, and your husband is dancing with him. Just think, Ratna, won't people spit on us if he marries a servant? Doesn't our family have a legacy? Teach him how a Prince should be," Savithri said.

"Do you know he likes Khushi and their wedding is fixed?"

"Yes, we know, and we stopped their wedding, giving your illness as an excuse, because they were not ready to listen to us. That's why we waited for your recovery," Chandra Murthy said.

"But, he likes Khushi...how could I force him?" Ratna asked.

"He would have agreed to marry Madhavi if he had been YOUR son. How could we expect him to respect the woman who is not his mother but his father's wife?"

"Savithri, you are talking unwantedly..." Arvind chided.

Savithri was taken aback.

"Are you trying to fuel Ratna's mind?" Arvind shouted.

"I said the truth only..." Savithri said in a feeble tone.

"Even though Arnav doesn't love Khushi, he will not like to marry Madhavi like a girl. I will not let it happen"

Svithri, Madhavi and Chandra Murthy were shocked to hear that.

"Why are you saying that?" Ratna asked.

"You don't know what she tried to do. She hid her necklace under her bed and accused Khushi... she is a cheap girl, Ratna... don't fall for their words"

Ratna looked at Madhavi, who bowed down.

"Is our daughter cheaper than this servant?"

"Leave everything... If Arnav liked Khushi, there is nothing to think..." Arvind said.

"But, she is a servant..."

"We will register one-fourth of the property in Khushi's name. Then, she will become rich... what say?" Came from an unexpected person... Ratna.

Arnav smiled, and Arvind was delighted. Khushi was stunned, and others were dumbfounded.

"Have you gone mad, Ratna?" Krishna Murthy asked annoyingly.

"I was... I was mad. That's why you guys treated me cheaply and spoke about me disrespectfully"

The Murthy brothers looked at each other in shock.

"Ratna, we never did that. Someone should have filled your ear with the nasty thing," Savithri said.

"I would not have believed if someone told me about you...But, I myself heard your talks," Ratna said, making all of them confused. When did Ratna hear their talks? Even Arvind could not guess, but Arnav and Khushi did. They looked at each other delightedly.

"I got my consciousness not today but yesterday... a day ago, " she said, giving them a shock.

Ratna looked at Arvind and smiled.

"What are you saying, Ratna?"

Ratna nodded yes.

"I got my memories back yesterday morning itself. I heard you talking to Arnav and got to know everything."

Arvind and Arnav looked at each other, perplexed. Didn't they speak about everything, including Arnav's previous birth, his connection with Khushi and Ratna, Murthy brothers and their slyness in giving her non-vegetarian food to stop her from getting cured? Did Ratna hear all of them? They were surprised, and the Murthy family shivered. Didn't they talk about their plan, unaware of her recovery? How clever Ratna was! She pretended she was not cured yet, but learned everything through their mouths. How could they deny their deeds now? Ratna herself heard everything. She would never listen to them.

Ratna looked at Madhavi.

"I'm a mad woman after all... isn't Madhavi?"

Madhavi looked down.

"How cunning you guys are...! Who claims whose property? Don't you have shame? My husband allowed you to be a part of this Palace, and you want to become the Queen and King? What do you think of me? Would I listen to all your nonsense and act against my husband and son? How pathetic!" She sneered.

Arvind and Arnav looked at her, awestruck. She looked at Arvind and asked,

"Why didn't you throw them out when you discovered their dirty intentions?"

"They are your brothers, Ratna. I thought..."

Cutting her off,

"I will get upset with you?"

Arvind was silent.

"Is this what you understood me? How would I misunderstand you? Do you lose your hope in me?"

"No, Ratna... I didn't know how to conclude"

"You could have changed a lot in recent years as time passed because you have experienced a lot in those years, but I'm the same Ratna who jumped into the well. According to me, it happened just yesterday because I forgot everything. For me, time has stopped until I get my memory back. Don't you know what my opinion was about my brothers?" She looked at her brothers.

Arnav sighed in relief.

"Ratna, we wanted to save your respect", Savithri said.

"Respect? Do you respect me? Even your daughter called me a mad woman, and you pretend you are concerned about my respect... so funny," she mocked.

"And, from when did you(stressing) become ROYALS? You are just guests here, but you behave like your(stressing) respect is going low! Who are you to bother about my family and its respect?"

"Shouldn't we think about your betterment?"

"Yeah, I have seen how concerned you are about my betterment."

"Getting married to a servant will make people mock you"

"I don't care... because Khushi is much better than your concern-filled daughter." Ratna mocked again.

Arnav controlled his smile, seeing Madhavi's facial expression. That was the height of insult. She didn't expect that. She thought she could easily get Ratna under her control by buttering her, but she played her brilliant cards with them and fooled them. Her stomach burned.

On the other hand, Arnav appreciated Ratna's skill. How brilliantly she pretended to be a mentally ill woman and learned everything through their mouths!

Ratna looked at Khushi, who bowed down. She came to her and lifted her chin.

"Why are you bowing down? You should not bow... after all, you will be a Queen!" She smiled and looked at Arvind.

"Arrange their wedding..."

Arvind nodded delightedly. Khushi looked at Arnav, parting her lips. He raised his brows, smiling.

"Before that, we will go to the Siddha Temple"

Arvind nodded ok.

Ratna came to Arnav.

"I hope, now you have no problem in accepting me as your mother"

"Thank you so much, Amma", he smiled.

Ratna hugged him delightedly. Arvind and Khushi smiled at them delightedly. She asked something in his ear, and Arnav looked at her stunningly, breaking the hug. Ratna smiled, and Arnav nodded his head. She headed to her room smiling.

The Murthy brothers also retired to their respective rooms. Arvind hugged Arnav happily.

"Didn't I tell you about Ratna? See, how clever she is!"

Arnav nodded yes and looked at Khushi, who looked confused. Arnav raised his brows, and she nodded NO.

"Let me meet Siddha temple Pandit and ask him to fix your wedding date.", Arvind said and left the Palace.

"What happened to you? You looked confused?"

"I'm..."

"Why?"

"Didn't Gorakhar say our marriage will happen only after crossing many hurdles?"

Arnav nodded yes.

"Then how does it happen so soon?"

"Khushi, we have already crossed many hurdles. Aren't they enough for you?" he asked teasingly.

"I don't know what to say" Khushi went to her room.

Arnav stood smiling. He too had the same doubt, but what Ratna asked him cleared his doubt. He decided what to do. He removed his phone and called someone. The call was attended.

"I need a complete report about Murthy Brothers. Get it quickly..." Arnav disconnected the call, smiling.

At the same time, the Murthy brothers headed to Ratna's room.

To be continued...
