Y/N pov
I wake up and immediately realize that something is off, my head feels like it is going to explode and I feel like I am going to throw up.
"No no no this can not be happening I can't be sick" I say. 'Great I can't take a day off from work' I think in my head. I am a receptionist for the Volturi and even though I am Alec's mate I don't think that they will be happy if I take a day off even if I am sick, I mean it has been years since they were human and sick.
I grab my stuff for work and head on my way, when I arrive at the Castle I feel worse if that is even possible. But I sit down and begin to work with the other receptionists as some of the guard comes through. As I begin to work I see a few of the receptionists and Volturi guard... I think... look at me concerned... perhaps this worse than I thought...
I continued working and I realized that I was going to throw up, so I got up and went to the bathroom like nothing was wrong and when I entered the bathroom I quickly got to a toilet and threw up, then flushed it. I went to the sinks and rinsed my mouth out and went back to my desk, then got a few mints and went back to work like nothing had happened. Surprisingly no one had noticed... or if they did they didn't say anything about it.
The day went on and it wasn't even my lunchtime and I had a huge migraine continuing to get worse meaning I had a fever. I see Alec walking towards me, he knows that I don't like it when he just appears in front of me and tries not to use his speed when coming to see me... key word there tries. But thankfully this isn't one of those times he uses his speed.
I get up and start to walk to him but start to see black spots in my vision getting bigger and I say Alec's name weakly right before the darkness consumed me and I passed out in Alec's arms.
Alec's pov
It was finally Y/n lunch time and I can finally spend time with her... Aro doesn't like it when I talk/distract her when she is working.
I walk into the room knowing that she doesn't like it when I appear in front of her, but I don't always remember either that or I don't always go slow around her but I do try to. I see her get up and come towards me... thats when I realize that something is up, she is paler than normal and looks like she can barely walk... Then I hear her weakly say my name, right before she passes out and I speed over towards her to catch her.
When I catch her I feel a lot of heat radiating from her... more than normal. I pick her limp body up bridal style and start heading towards my quarters of the castle where I did have a bed because when I wasn't doing something for the Volturi or with my sister, I liked to read or lie down and think for a while.
On the way there though I get stopped by Jane... she doesn't particularly like Y/n because she feels like Y/n is replacing her, which isn't true. But this time when she see's her she looks concerned and suggests that we take Y/n to the masters before we do anything else. Right now I really don't want to do that but I do as she says not wanting to upset her and her hurt Y/n when she is awake or me right now which would cause me to drop my precious Y/n, honestly I don't care if Jane uses her gift on me but when it comes to Y/n I will do anything to protect her.
We go to the masters in the throne room and I refuse to put Y/n down, the masters show concern and call for a human to get anything that we are going to need. We don't know anything about modern medicine after all. I take Y/n to my chambers and lie her on my bed on the covers not knowing what to do. Then after a little while the woman that we sent to get the things we would need comes in and she goes to work sticking a funny looking stick in her mouth that she says is a thermometer. When she takes it out she says that her temperature is over a hundred degrees and we need to get it down, she also says that that is most likely why she fainted was because of her temperature. So I lie down beside her knowing that my body temperature will cool her down but none the less she goes to wet a towel for her head. She comes in and puts it on Y/n's forehead and says that I need to keep it cool and wet.She then pulls several medicines and explains what they are and what they do and how to use them... like how much to give, she also shows me how to use the thermometer... Then she leaves to go back to her job as a receptionists. But before she leaves she tells me that the medicine doesn't taste the best but it is some of the best that you can get without a prescription.
A little while later Y/n starts to regain consciousness. She notices me first then realizes that she is in an unfamiliar room and starts to panic.
"Calm down love, your in my room you don't have to be afraid," I tell her calming her down. Once she is calm enough I ask her why she came to work if she was sick, she then proceeded to tell me why and I completely understood why.
During her explanation she had a coughing fit and I remembered the cough syrup. So I got up to pour some into the little measuring cup that was provided. I held it out for her to drink and she realized what I was trying to give her and said no I have had that before and it tastes nasty. I sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose realizing that this is not going to be easy, knowing that she is a very stubborn person.
"Wait I have an idea on how to get you to take it," I say as I put the cup down. After a few seconds black smoke begins to come out of my hands and into Y/n mouth making her lose her sense of taste. It takes her a little bit to realize what happened but when she did she finally took the medicine. I laid back down with her and pretty soon after she took the medicine she fell back asleep sleeping off whatever sickness she had caught.
