〘CHAPTER 1〙
The roar of the crowd was deafening, a tidal wave of energy surging through the air as the racers neared the finish line.
The stadium pulsed with anticipation.
Fans stood on their feet, their cheers growing into an electrified symphony of excitement, their voices merging into one as they urged their favorites forward.
"They're nearly at the end - this is it, the final stretch!" The MC's voice boomed through the speakers, barely cutting through the chaos of the screaming crowd "The Hummingbird Crew is in the lead, but the others are hot on their heels! This is absolutely wild!!".
Tension coiled in the air, dense and suffocating - as if even time had paused to see what would happen next.
Every eye was locked on the track, every heartbeat synced with the rhythm of the cyclists pedaling.
Dom gritted his teeth, his breath coming out in ragged pants "Come on, guys! Push harder!" He yelled, his voice nearly drowned by the deafening cheers.
His legs burned, muscles screaming in protest but he refused to slow down.
Jay Jo clenched his jaw, sweat dripping down his face. His body ached, every muscle stretched to its limit but the fire in his eyes burned fiercely.
This was it - their moment.
With an almost desperate determination, he forced his legs to move faster, his vision narrowing to a single point - the finish line.
It was right there, just a little more.
June and Vinny flanked him, their unwavering support fueling him forward.
They were a unit - a Crew - a family. They moved as one, their wheels slicing through the pavement with deadly precision.
"NOW!!" June shouted, his voice sharp - commanding.
With one final burst of energy, they surged ahead. The wind howled in their ears, the finish line a blur in their sights.
And then - they crossed it.
They had won!!
The stadium erupted in a frenzied explosion of cheers, Fans leaping from their seats, arms raised high in triumph.
The sheer volume was overwhelming, a tidal wave of joy and excitement washing over the racers.
"THE HUMMING BIRD CREW HAS DONE IT AGAIN! THEY HAVE WON!!" The MC roared, his voice full of admiration and disbelief "WHAT A RACE! WHAT A FINISH!!".
Panting, their bodies exhausted yet thrumming with adrenaline, the Crew coasted to a stop.
Their limbs ached, their chests rose and fell heavily but the sweet, intoxicating taste of victory overpowered every bit of pain.
They had won and in this moment, nothing else mattered.
Reporters surged forward, their cameras flashing like starlight, their voices overlapping as they shoved microphones in their faces while they took off their helmets.
"Jay Jo! Another win for The Humming Bird Crew, what's going through your mind right now?" A reporter asked, breathless with excitement.
Jay wiped a hand over his damp face, catching his breath before answering.
"It feels unreal" He admitted, his voice hoarse "This race pushed us to our limits - but we believed in each other and that's why we came out on top".
June - ever composed, answered the bulk of the questions while Dom and Vinny engaged with the crowd, signing autographs, laughing and embracing the moment.
As the chaos settled, they turned toward the group of girls waiting at the sidelines, their smiles warm and filled with pride.
"Jay~" A familiar, sweet voice reached his ears.
His head lifted and there she was - Shelly.
Her golden hair catching the sunlight, her radiant smile bright enough to outshine the flashing cameras, she didn't hesitate.
Within seconds, she was in his arms, throwing herself at him with all the force of her excitement.
A chuckle rumbled from Jay as he instinctively pulled her closer, his arms wrapping securely around her waist.
He buried his face in her shoulder, inhaling the familiar, soothing scent of her hair.
"Aww~ you did so well" She whispered, squeezing him tightly.
"Thank you" He murmured, his voice barely audible as he held her close, feeling the rhythm of her heartbeat against his own.
The weight of the race, the exhaustion in his limbs - all of it melted away in her embrace.
Victory was sweet but this - this was something more.
Their friends stood a few feet away, watching the tender moment unfold.
June crossed his arms and smirked "Look at those two~ always lost in their own world".
"Hey! We're still here!" Dom pouted, waving his arms dramatically "Can you not rub it in?".
Yuna rolled her eyes, lightly hitting him on the shoulder "Dom, let them have their moment".
Shelly finally pulled back, a playful gleam in her eyes "That race almost gave me a heart attack!".
"Tell me about it!" Yuna agreed "My hands were shaking the whole time!".
Dom draped an arm over Vinny's shoulder, his grin wide "Well~ what did I say? Of course we were going to win, our Crew's unstoppable".
Jay and June exchanged amused glances, shaking their heads at Dom's typical bravado.
Yuna's phone buzzed in her pocket, she pulled it out and scanned the message "Alright, I'm off to visit Minu for a bit".
"We want to go too!" They all chimed in at once.
"Then let's go~" Yuna said with a grin "Minu's waiting for us".
"Okay, everyone - let's shower first, then go see him" June suggested and the rest nodded in agreement.
"Agreed!" Vinny sighed, already heading toward the locker room "I don't think my legs can take another step if I don't sit in some ice first".
Dom clapped him on the back, laughing "Come on, soldier! The battlefield awaits!".
The Crew erupted in laughter, their exhaustion momentarily forgotten as they made their way toward the showers, ready to celebrate not just their victory but each other.
Because at the end of the day, that's what mattered most.

Minu exhaled slowly, his gaze fixed on the apple in his hand.
He turned it over absentmindedly, the smooth skin cool against his fingers, a small sigh escaped his lips.
He let out a dry chuckle "Some life this is" He mumbled to himself.
Not that Minu was pessimistic or anything - it was just a fact.
Hospitals were dull, the sterile walls, the monotonous routine, the way time dragged on painfully slow - it was exhausting in a way that had nothing to do with his injuries.
He had been here for weeks now, each day blurring into the next.
The walls of his hospital room felt like they were closing in, a cage he had been forced into.
Each morning, he woke up to the sharp scent of disinfectant, took slow, tedious laps around the hospital yard and waited for the doctor's approval to leave.
The routine had become second nature, it never got any less frustrating.
But still - he was getting stronger.
His legs - once rebellious and weak, were slowly learning to obey him again.
Each day, he regained more control and with it, the hope that soon, he'd be back where he belonged - on his bike, riding like the wind.
"What's on your mind?" A soft voice asked, gently tugging him back to the present.
Minu turned his head slightly to see Mia sitting beside him, carefully peeling an apple with a small knife.
Her movements were precise, almost delicate, as she removed the skin in one long, curling strip.
Minu smirked, resting his head against the pillow "Nothing much... just wondering when I'll finally get out of here".
Mia glanced at him before setting down the knife "You're improving every day, it won't be long now".
Before Minu could respond, the door burst open and suddenly, the quiet room was flooded with noise. Laughter, chatter and the familiar energy of his friends filled the space as they spilled inside.
"Hey, you two!" Yuna called, stepping in first with her usual bright grin.
Minu smirked "Took you long enough~".
Dom stepped forward, barely containing his excitement "Guess what, Minu?".
"You guys won~" Minu didn't even blink.
Dom's excitement faltered as his mouth fell open "Wait... how'd you know?!".
"You really think I'd miss it? I had front-row seats - watched it live" Minu pointed lazily at the TV.
Mia chuckled, handing him the peeled apple "Congratulations, you guys~ you were amazing out there".
The room buzzed with energy as they launched into a chaotic retelling of the race. They spoke over each other, voices overlapping, hands gesturing wildly.
Minu listened, grinning as they relived the thrill of the event. Even though he hadn't been there, he felt like he had ridden every turn and bend with them.
Someone suggested a victory celebration and soon, they were making plans.
At first they wanted to have a party at Vinny's house but then Minu wants everyone to come over.
June frowned "Are you sure? You still need to rest, you know".
Minu waved him off "I'll be fine~ I can ask the doctor to discharge me tomorrow for the day. Besides, it's just me and Yuna at home. Everyone can come over".
Seeing everyone having fun together made Dom suddenly trembled.
"What's the matter, Dom?" Jay asked.
Dom suddenly sobbed "It's just... it's been so long since we've had this much fun together. I'm so happy".
Shelly giggled and teased him "Aww~ Dom, you're such a softie".
"I know!" He wailed dramatically "But I can't help it!".
"Stop crying, buddy!" June patted Dom's shoulder and look at the sibling "Alright then, we'll come over to your place at 7 tomorrow".
"So~ any ideas for food?" Yuna asked with a tilt of her head.
Vinny suggested with a shrug "How about barbecue?".
"That's a good idea!" Jay agreed with a nod.
"Yeah!!" Minu happily "We can buy meat and grill it outside my back yard".
Mia warmly asked Shelly "Then Shelly, want to go buy ingredients with me tomorrow?".
"Of course~" Shelly happily agreed.
Talking for a while longer, Yuna wants to stay with Minu and Mia a little more, they said goodbye to those three and left.
Everyone went their separate ways but Jay insisted on walking Shelly home, they strolled quietly, hands intertwined.
"Minu's getting better, that's a relief" Shelly said softly, her voice carrying the gentle warmth Jay always found comforting.
Jay nodded, though his mind was elsewhere.
The thought of Minu, strong and free again, riding beside him - it filled him with something he hadn't realized he had been missing.
A longing - a hope.
He really missed those times - the wind rushing past, the roar of their bikes, the thrill of the road beneath them.
What could be more wonderful than that.
Sensing his silence, Shelly gently squeezed his hand "You've gone quiet, something on your mind?".
Jay exhaled, his lips curving into a small smile "I was thinking about Minu, that's all".
"Hey, relax~ everything's starting to look up now" She smiled, leaning into him "Stop stressing so hard, just breathe and cheer up a little, yeah?".
Jay glanced at her, caught in the gentle warmth shining in her eyes.
And in that moment, he saw the future - a future with Shelly, with The Humming Bird Crew and other things.
He squeezed her hand "Okay".
