〘CHAPTER 8〙

Shelly stormed down the hallway, her fists clenched at her sides, jaw tight with frustration.

The tense meeting with her grandfather still echoed in her mind, his stern words pressing down on her like a weight she couldn't shake off.

She just wanted to get back to class, to pretend none of it had happened.

But as she reached the midpoint of the hallway, a shadow moved in her peripheral vision.

Before she could react, a figure stepped in front of her, blocking her path.

A strong, calloused hand seized her wrist and yanked her sharply toward the back of the school.

"What the hell? Let go of me!!" She snapped, her voice sharp with irritation as she struggled against the grip.

Chan smirked, his fingers tightening around her wrist just enough to make it clear that he wasn't letting go "Relax~ princess".

He drawled, his voice dripping with that infuriating arrogance "I just wanted to say hello".

Shelly's stomach twisted violently.

That word - that stupid mocking word he always used. It grated on her nerves like nails on a chalkboard, she loathed it.

Every time he called her that, she felt an overwhelming urge to slap that smug smirk right off his face.

"Well, I'm not in the mood to talk" She shot back, yanking at her wrist "Now let me go".

Chan chuckled, unfazed "Aww~ is my princess angry? That's cute".

Again.

It's that kind of call again.

She absolutely hated the way he called her that. That sickly sweet mockery laced in his voice, makes her want to punch him in the mouth.

Fury ignited inside her, making her blood boil "First of all, don't ever call me that. Second, move out of my way".

She spun on her heel to leave but before she could take a step, Chan's arm slammed against the wall, trapping her in place.

A cold shiver ran down her spine, she hated how powerless she felt in this moment.

"What are you doing?? Let me go!" Shelly shouted, trying to shove him away but he barely budged.

"Not so fast~" He whispered, his breath brushing against her ear "Why don't you break up with Jay and date me instead? I'll show you the pleasure of love".

Terrified at Chan's words, a wave of nausea crashed over Shelly. The way he spoke, the way his eyes roamed her face - it made her skin crawl.

She had never seen anyone as disgusting as the one in front of her eyes.

All she wants now is to find a way to get rid of this pervert.

"You're an asshole!!" She spat and swung her hand toward his face.

But Chan was faster, he caught her wrist mid air and leaned in, his face inches from hers "Tsk, tsk, tsk. Feisty, aren't you? Come on, don't you wanna try?".

He squeezed her wrist tighter, making her wince in pain.

She struggled against his hold, panic rising inside her as he leaned in further, his eyes locked onto her lips.

"Shh~ let's see how these lips taste like" He whispered with a wicked grin.

But before he could move any closer, a powerful fist collided with the side of his face. The impact sent him sprawling to the ground, a sharp grunt of pain escaping his lips.

"Jay!" Shelly gasped, relief flooding her as she turned to see her boyfriend standing there, his fists clenched, his entire body radiating rage.

Jay didn't hesitate, he grabbed Chan by the collar and slammed him against the wall.

"Which one of your filthy hands touched her?" He growled, his voice low and dangerous.

Shelly's heart pounded, she had never seen Jay like this before. He was always calm, always composed.

But now, his anger burned so fiercely that it was almost terrifying - yet undeniably captivating.

A part of her was frozen, mesmerized by the sight of him protecting her so fiercely.

Although he looks very attractive, she still has to stop it.

Shelly doesn't want Jay to get in trouble for fighting and definitely can't let her grandpa scold her boyfriend.

"Jay, stop!" She reached out, touching his arm, trying to calm him "I'm fine. He didn't do anything to me".

Jay's gaze flickered to her, his expression softening for a moment as he searched her face.

"You sure?" He asked, his voice quieter but still laced with concern.

She nodded "Yes. Let's just go, okay?".

Reluctantly, Jay released Chan, his lips curling in disgust as he turned away.

Taking Shelly's hand, he led her away from the scene, his grip warm and reassuring.

Behind them, Chan sat up, clutching his bruised jaw. His cheek was already swollen and a trickle of blood dripped from his lip.

He wiped it away with the back of his hand, eyes burning with fury.

"Damn it!!" He growled under his breath "You just wait, Jay! I'll make you regret this".

The Doctor leaned back slightly in his chair, his eyes sparkling with a warmth Yuna hadn't seen in a while.

"The patient's condition is getting better and better, I think he'll be discharged soon" He said happily, a broad smile spreading across his face.

Yuna's heart leapt with relief and her voice cracked as she responded "Really, Doctor?".

"Yes!" The Doctor nodded, his voice full of genuine joy "I'm actually kind of surprised at how quickly he's recovering. But honestly, he deserves it. It's such a relief to see him improving, I'm happy for both of you".

Yuna felt a wave of gratitude wash over her, her eyes welling with unshed tears.

She blinked them back, her throat tightening "Thank you so much, Doctor" She whispered, her voice thick with emotion.

The Doctor gave her a soft, reassuring smile "You're welcome, you both have been through a lot".

Yuna's chest swelled with pride and relief, she had been by Minu's side through every step of his recovery and hearing the Doctor's words made her feel like her efforts had been worth it.

Yuna thanked the Doctor again and then going to her brother's hospital room with a lunch box in hand, Doctor had just delivered wonderful news and she couldn't wait to share it with Minu.

When she pushed open the door, she was met with the sound of the television blaring the latest news and there, lounging on his hospital bed was Minu.

He looked up from the screen and when he saw her, his usual mischievous grin lit up his face.

"Ah, you're here~ took you long enough, I was getting bored" Minu teased, his eyes gleaming with playful energy.

Yuna rolled her eyes with a small laugh "Oh, please~ you just like being dramatic" And held up the lunch box "Anyway, are you hungry? I cooked your favorite".

Minu's face lit up as she handed him the lunchbox "Ooh~ now that's what I like to hear".

As he dug into his food, Yuna sat down beside him, her voice brimming with excitement "By the way, the Doctor says you're recovering really well. You'll be discharged soon!".

Minu paused mid bite "Seriously? That's awesome!" His grin returned but this time it was filled with an excited, almost childlike joy "I can't wait to get back to riding my bike again".

Yuna chuckled at his enthusiasm, her heart swelling with happiness at the sight of him so animated.

But just as she thought the moment was perfect, Minu's face shifted to something more mischievous and a sly grin crept onto his face.

"Speaking of waiting~ when exactly were you planning to tell me?" He asked, his voice dripping with teasing curiosity.

Yuna blinked in confusion, unsure of what he meant "Tell you what?".

Minu leaned back slightly, crossing his arms as he gave her a knowing smirk.

"About you liking Dom! Don't even try to deny it, Mia already told me everything" He said with a smug grin, clearly enjoying the moment.

Yuna's heart skipped a beat, she felt the blood rush to her face and for a moment, she was speechless.

The last person she expected to spill her secret was Mia - her best friend, the one she trusted the most.

"Mia told you?" She stammered, horrified that her secret had been revealed.

Minu chuckled at her flustered reaction "Yup~ she told me everything. So, sis~ when are you going to tell him?"

Yuna bit her lip, her gaze flickering to the floor as a wave of embarrassment and uncertainty washed over her.

She had spent so much time hiding her feelings, unsure of how to act, afraid of ruining their friendship with Dom.

"It's not that easy..." She said softly, her voice tinged with sadness "And... I still haven't found the right time to tell him yet".

Minu studied her for a moment, his expression softening with concern.

He could tell that this was harder for her than she was letting on, Yuna had always been more reserved - more cautious with her emotions.

Unlike Minu - who often acted impulsively and bravely, his sister kept everything inside, her feelings locked away behind walls of hesitation and doubt.

He sighed, shifting slightly on the bed as he looked at her.

"Sis... if you like him, then just say it. You don't want to keep avoiding it forever" His voice was gentle but firm "I can see how much you care about him and if you don't say something soon, you might regret it".

Yuna felt her chest tighten, the weight of his words sinking in.

Deep down, she knew Minu was right.

She had spent so much time avoiding her feelings, running from the truth but maybe it was time to stop.

She didn't want to regret not telling Dom how she felt, especially if he felt the same way.

But the idea of opening her heart, of exposing herself so vulnerably, terrified her.

Minu's words lingered in her mind.

"Maybe you can ask him out somewhere and tell him how you feel" He suggested with a knowing smile "It doesn't have to be a big grand gesture, just a simple moment where you two can be honest with each other".

Yuna felt her stomach twist at the thought "Should I really do that?" She whispered, the uncertainty still clinging to her like a shadow.

"Of course!" Minu said, his voice brimming with confidence "Dom has liked you for a long time now, he deserves to know how you feel. Don't let fear keep you from being honest with him, if you don't tell him now, you might regret it and I know you don't want to live with that kind of regret".

Yuna thought for a moment, her mind racing as her heart pounded in her chest.

Minu was right, as always.

She couldn't keep hiding behind her uncertainty forever.

If Dom truly liked her, if there was a chance for something more between them, she needed to take that step.

"Okay..." Yuna said, her voice a little shakier than she had intended "I'll talk to him".

There was a sense of determination in her words now, it wasn't going to be easy but she knew it was time.

Minu smiled, a proud and reassuring look in his eyes "Good~ you got this, sis".

Yuna took a deep breath, the decision made.

It was time to face her feelings head on, to be brave for herself and for Dom.

No more hiding, she had come this far and she wasn't about to let fear control her any longer.

If Dom truly cared for her, she wanted to know and she was ready to find out.
