10 Rude Behaviour

Part 10 Rude behavior

Nani trembled. She could not believe Khushi was sensing Ratna's soul's presence. How did it happen? Ratna's soul was roaming around RM for more than eighteen years but none of them from the family sensed her presence not even Ratna's Chotte. Then, how Khushi sensed it? Why only Khushi, leaving everyone behind?

What did that mean? Could Khushi help her in finding the murderer of Ratna? It seemed Khushi was afraid of her feelings. Then how could she tell her that she was sensing none but Arnav's mother's soul? How would she react? What if she ran back to Lucknow? Nani was disturbed. She didn't know how to handle this.

Nani jerked when Khushi touched her shoulder.

"Naniji, where were you lost?" Khushi smiled.

"No...thing bitiya..."

"Come and taste this keer"

"Yeah... your Nanu said you cook well"

"He usually exaggerates anything related to me, Naniji"

Taking the bowl, Nani tasted it.

"No... your Nanu didn't exaggerate... you have magic in your hand"

"Naniji, don't play my Nanu's role... please"

"We are telling the truth. Do you feel it an exaggeration?"

Khushi pouted. Nani came to the living room and sat with the bowl. She relished it taking time.

That was when they heard a calling bell sound. Nani was about to call HP,

"Let me check, Naniji" Khushi rushed to open the door.

She pulled the door wide and saw a woman in her late forties and a man in his late twenties standing. She looked at Nani.

"Who is that, Khushi bitiya?"

Khushi nodded NO and looked at the woman again. The woman entered with the guy.

"Arrey, Maya... come. How are you Akash bituwa?"

"We are fine, Naniji." Akash touched Nani's feet.

"Always be happy" Nani blessed him.

"How are you, Maya?

"Doing good, Maji... how about you?"

"By god's grace, I'm fine"

Maya looked at Khushi and then Nani. Understanding the question that was hiding in her look, Nani said,

"Khushi bitiya, bring keer for Maya and Akash bituwa"

Khushi nodded ok and went to the kitchen. Nani looked at Maya,

"She is Khushi. Our Kuldevi temple management authority Shivshankar's granddaughter"

"Oh, yeah, Akash said you went to Lucknow..."

"Yes, Maya... I went to visit my kuldevi temple"

"Anything special?"

Nani sighed.

"What do I say, Maya...?"

"Why Maji? Is everything alright?"

"I too wanted to talk to you about it but not now. We will talk later"

Maya nodded ok.

"Where is Arnav, Naniji?" Akash asked.

"He is in his room..."

"I will check"

"Wait, Akash bituwa, have the keer prepared by Khushi. She made it tasty"

At the same time, Khushi came with two bowls of keer. She handed them to Maya and Akash.

"Thank you" Akash smiled.

"Mmm... it's so tasty, beta" Maya said.

Khushi smiled slightly.

"She won't accept the credit easily. she thinks we are exaggerating" Nani smiled.

"No no Khushiji... it's really tastier" Akash said.

They saw Arnav coming.

"What is tastier?" Arnav asked.

"I will bring it to you" Khushi again rushed to the kitchen.

"How are you, Arnav?" Maya asked.

"Good, aunty"

Maya removed a sweet box from the bag and extended it to Nani.

"I went to Shiva temple yesterday. I offered it to God, praying for Arnav"

Nani took it from her hand.

"You don't forget to pray for Chotte whenever you go to the temple... right?"

"He is also like my son, Maji. Ratna's demise not only made you shattered but also me. It's been eighteen years... still, the wound is raw" Maya choked.

Arnav gulped down hard. Maya was Ratna's friend. From the time Ratna died, Maya was the only support for Nani.

There was a long pause. Khushi broke it, coming with the keer. She gave it to Arnav. He took it from her.

"Very good keer, Khushiji. After a long time, I'm so satisfied" Akash said.

"Khushi beta, my son won't utter words easily. he won't give credit to my cooking you know?" Maya said making Khushi embarrassed.

"What are you talking about?" Manorama came there with full make-up as usual.

"Namaste Manoramaji" Maya said.

"How are you Mayaji?"

"Fine"

"What credit Akash bituwa gave to whom?" Manorama asked.

"To Khushi's keer"

"Keer? What keer?"

"Khushi prepared keer for Pooja..." Nani said.

"Oh... so, there is a use for bringing her to RM then..." Manorama said.

Khushi's face changed for a while and she came to composure immediately. Everyone around her noticed that and wondered.

Arnav kept the bowl, finishing the keer.

"Was not the keer good?" Akash asked.

"I don't like it," Arnav said.

Akash and Maya looked at Khushi's face which was hung. Nani was about to say something, but she stopped as Arnav asked,

"Don't you come to the office today, Akash?"

"Yeah, will come, dropping Ma home," Akash said.

"Ok, I'm going to get ready" Arnav went to his room.

*What Naniji said is true. People in this house are so haughty-headed... Lord Governer Kahika* Khushi walked to the kitchen.

"We are leaving, Maji," Maya said.

"Ok," Nani said.

Maya and Akash left RM.

Nani headed to Arnav's room. She knocked on his door. Arnav saw her standing at his doorstep.

"Nani..."

"Why are you doing this, Chotte? I asked your permission before I brought Khushi to RM. Then, why did you disappoint her? Was not the keer made by her tasted good?"

Arnav stood silently, letting her finish.

"Poor girl, her face hung, hearing you. Just yesterday you welcomed her with sweets. I felt so proud when you said, she should not feel she has no one. What happened to your words today? You made her gloomy"

"I know Nani. She has no one but you and me. She is our guest. I don't want her to be treated like a servant. If she started doing things for others, she would get nothing but only disappointment. Didn't you see, how rudely Mami behaved with her? Please ask her not to do anything"

Nani was overwhelmed.

"I'm sorry, Chotte. I misunderstood you"

"That's ok, Nani. Please, cheer her up. I made her upset"

"I will take care of her... but, she lost one of the supporters in RM. what about that?"

"I know how to cheer her up"

"How?"

Arnav smiled, and said nothing. Nani raised her brows and came out. Khushi, who heard their talks rushed out of the place. She came to the guest room and sat silently. As she expected, Nani came to her room. Khushi stood up, like a good girl.

"Are you upset?"

Khushi nodded no.

"Don't be... Chotte doesn't want you to work here. That's why he said he doesn't like the keer"

Khushi nodded ok making a sad face.

"Won't you trust me?"

"I trust you and also Uncle"

Nani looked at her wondering.

"I heard what he said," Khushi said controlling her smile.

Nani chuckled.

"Is it?"

Khushi nodded yes and laughed.

"Thank God..." Nani sighed in relief.

Khushi was about to go,

"Khushi bitiya..." Nani stopped her.

"What Naniji?"

"Chotte said, he will soothe you... let's see, how he pacifies you"

Khushi nodded ok, raising her brows, and folding her lips. She saw Arnav crossing the room. She instantly closed her face with her left palm and pretended like, feeling sad.

"Khushi bitiya..."

"Uncle is looking at us" Khushi whispered.

Nani became alert.

"Don't feel bad, Khushi bitiya. Your keer was really tasty. Didn't Maya and Akash bituwa say?"

"Akashji seems so a nice person Naniji. That's why he should have lied- not to make me upset." Khushi sniffed.

"I can bet... if others taste the keer, they will also tell the same like Maya and Akash. Don't be sad, bitiya"

"That's ok, Naniji... I thought I got a few good-hearted people for myself..." she stopped not completing.

Arnav felt bad for Khushi. He left the place silently as he was not so good at consoling people.

Khushi saw him going.

"Poor him..." she chuckled.

Arnav came to the dining. HP brought him juice and bread and toast. Arnav ate looking at the way that led to the guestroom. Neither Khushi nor Nani came out of the room.

Guestroom

"Khushi bitiya, do you have the Panditji's phone number?"

"Yes, Naniji... I have"

"Could you give it to me?"

"Sure, Naniji"

Taking her bag, Khushi took a piece of paper from the front zip. She handed it to Nani.

"Thank you, bitiya"

"When you talk to him, please let me talk to him, Naniji"

"Sure, bitiya"

"Call him in the afternoon"

Cutting her,

"But why?"

"He will be at home at that time. I can talk to Siya Bhabi too. That's why"

"You do need to be waiting for me to call them, Khushi. You can call them anytime if you want to talk to them"

Khushi nodded ok.

"Do you want to call them?"

"Not now, Naniji. He will be busy at the temple now"

"Oh... yes..."

"We will call him in after 12'o clock"

"Ok"

"Naniji, may I ask you something?"

"Anything"

"I saw a woman's photo in the Pooja room. She is Arnavji's mother, right?"

Nani nodded yes.

"Where is his father?"

"He died one month before she died"

"Then, why was his photo not there with his mother's photo?"

"Because we don't like that man"

"What about Arnavji?"

"He hates him more than we do"

"Oh... Doesn't his father have any relatives?"

"He has one brother..."

Nani was stuck. Arvind's brother, Anand was also not their FAMILY? What if he killed Ratna? There was a strong chance for that. if Arnav died, all the properties would go to him only. Why didn't she think in that direction? How did she miss this? Nani became thoughtful.
