25 Khushi's Dexterity
Part 25 Khushi's Dexterity
Khushi smiled at Ratna's spirit.
"Today, Arnavji also kept fast"
"I know..."
"Won't he feel anything after keeping fast?"
"No... he just kept fast unlike you. You did many things for the Pooja, right?"
"Arnavji will become super happy if he sees you. Can't we do something to make it possible?"
"It will happen only if I get freed"
"I think Pandit Bhaiya can answer to this. Shall I ask him?" Khushi said excitedly.
"Do you think so?"
"Yes..."
"Ok, then ask him"
"And, I think I should not hide the truth from Arnavji"
"No, Khushi. My Amma doesn't want anyone from this family know about me. Arnav won't be quiet if he gets to know about me"
"But why Naniji doesn't want anyone to know?"
"It's because someone from our family is the one who killed me"
"Whaaaat?"
"Yes... I heard Amma telling that to Maya"
"Oh..."
"Chotte will get angry and make the house upside down"
"But, he ought to know about it, right?"
"Yes, but not now. You can tell him when the right time comes"
"Ok, but why do you want to keep Nani in the dark?"
"No... I don't want to keep her in dark. She will get to know about it tomorrow... maybe, even Chotte will start getting suspicious about my presence"
"Really? How?"
"Will tell you tomorrow. Now, go to sleep"
Khushi nodded ok. She leaned on the couch, closing her eyes. She suddenly opened her eyes.
"What?" Ratna asked.
"Don't you go?"
"Are you scared?"
Khushi nodded no and closed her eyes. She again thought something and opened her eyes.
"What now?"
"Can't you touch anything?"
Ratna nodded no and touched the glass on the teatable but she could not.
"I can touch only you"
Khushi sighed and closed her eyes.
"Khushi..."
Khushi opened her eyes.
"Tell me"
"don't forget one thing"
"What?"
"Only you can see me and you can hear me..."
"Of course, I know that"
"Keep it in your mind"
Khushi nodded ok frowning thoughtfully and closed her eyes. Ratna smirked.
Kapoor Villa
Sheetal was standing in front of her father Rishab Kapoor silently.
"What's the meaning of your silence, Sheetal? Speak up..."
"Dad, I don't know what to say"
"We are patience only because you said you are in love with Arnav. But he is not at all showing interest in you. How long will you be single, Sheetal? You are our only daughter. Won't we wish to see you settling down in your life? this is a good alliance. Give me the final statement. I have no problem if you marry Arnav. But, if he is not ready, just marry the guy I bring for you"
"Dad, please try to understand I love Arnav"
"I understood. That's why I waited not disturbing you. But, this seems to be not working. I'm fed up. Ask Arnav if he will marry you or not..."
"Give me some time, Dad"
"I have already given enough time... it's two years you are behind him"
"You have waited for two years... can't you wait for two more months? This is the last time; I'm asking you time... If I can't make it this time, I will go with your idea"
"Why not we go to RM and talk about their marriage with Arnav's Nani?" Sheetal's mother said.
"Yeah... this sounds good. What say Sheetal?"
"I will tell you Dad"
Rishab nodded ok.
Sheetal was hanging in the edge of the rope. She knew her father. She can't give the same excuse again and again. She had to do something about it. She decided to do something to know Arnav's REAL interest in her. She believed she would get a good RESULT.
The next day
Nani woke up from her sleep. She shook her hands and legs, sitting on the bed. Those were the simple exercise she regularly did every morning, after waking up. Finishing that, she went to the washroom to take bath.
Khushi was still sleeping. Suddenly, she jerked as Ratna tapped her cheek. Khushi looked here and there bewildered.
"Don't be scared. It's me" Ratna said.
"It's only me who could hear such words. The GHOST herself says not to be SCARED" Khushi sighed, making Ratna laugh.
"Shhhh... don't laugh loudly. Anyone can hear you"
"I told you, only you can hear me"
"Oh, yeah... tell me, why did you wake me up?"
"I want you to do something"
"What?"
"Mathura aloo puri"
Khushi looked at her horrified.
"Why are you looking at me like, as if I'm a GHOST?" Ratna laughed again.
Khushi rolled her eyes.
"I may be a ghost but not for you"
"I didn't look at you because you are ghost..."
"Then?"
"Are you planning to make fun out of me?"
"Why?"
"You SUPER SON is not that generous. He could not be satisfied easily"
"What do you mean?"
"He taunts your Amma's cooking you know. Then, no need to say about me. I'm not going to make his favorite Mathura aloo puri. Ask me something else, please"
"He won't taunt you. It's my responsibility"
"But, I don't know to prepare Mathura Aloo puri"
"Why I'm here? I will teach you"
"Oh..." She sighed.
"Let's go"
"Let me take bath"
"Do you want me to help to take bath?"
"Noooo..."
Ratna laughed. Khushi went to the guest room and took bath. Ratna was waiting for her until she got ready.
"Do you really want me to do this?" Khushi asked pouting.
"Please, do it for me... It's my son's favorite dish"
"I know... that's why I'm hesitating. I never have seen such a MUMMA boy" she said sighing.
"Don't talk a lot. Come" Clutching her hand, Ratna started pulling her to the kitchen. Khushi followed her without any choice.
Manorama saw Khushi heading the kitchen, extending her left hand as Ratna was pulling her.
"Kusiiii"
Hearing her voice, Ratna dropped her hand. Khushi looked at Manorama.
"Why are you extending your hand while walking?"
Khushi looked at her hand that was still extending. She looked at Ratna who was smiling.
"I... I..." Khushi smiled like an idiot.
"Where are you going?"
"To the kitchen"
"Why?"
"To make Mathura aloo puri"
"Mathura aloo puri?" Manorama laughed sarcastically.
Khushi nodded yes.
"You don't know the history of Mathura aloo puri I think"
Khushi looked at Ratna who gestured her to be silent.
"Ratna... I mean Arnav's mother makes the best Mathur aloo puri. People in this house won't like yours. So, make it in little quantity. Don't waste it. HP will make breakfast for us"
Khushi nodded ok.
"Don't take her seriously... come" Ratna said.
"I think you are full swing to play with me" Khushi said making a face.
Coming to the kitchen,
"Tell me what to do"
"Just, do what I say. Don't even miss any simple instruction" she said seriously.
Khushi nodded ok.
Ratna said what to do. Khushi followed her instructions.
HP who came to the kitchen got stuck, seeing Khushi making aloo and puri.
"Khushiji, I will prepare it for you"
"You can do your regular work." She said.
"I have already finished Khushiji"
"I'm cooking this for Naniji and Arnavji" She smiled.
All of them gathered at dining, including Arnav and Nani. HP brought the breakfast to the dinning and served it to everyone except for Arnav and Nani.
"Khushiji is brining your breakfast" HP said.
Arnav and Nani looked at each other.
"Did you ask her to cook?" both raised the same question and flinched.
Khushi came with Mathura aloo puri and served them to Arnav and Nani.
"Mathura aloo puri... I cooked it for you" Khushi said.
She heard chuckles from Anjana and Manorama. Khushi looked at Ratna who was admiring her son, sitting beside him. Khushi wanted to bang her head on the wall. Here, she was suffocating and Ratna was adoring her son without caring about her.
Arnav and Nani ate the first morsel. They were thunderstruck and looked at each other.
"I can't believe this..." Nani said whereas Arnav was looking at Khushi with un unnamed expression.
"Doesn't it taste good?" Khushi asked.
"Good? It's so excellent... just like, my daughter's dexterity" Nani said unbelievably.
Khushi looked at Arnav who was silently chewing the puri.
Anjana and Manorama glanced at each other surprisingly. Taking a puri, they tasted it. Their expression changed.
"Yes... this puri makes me remember Ratna" Manorama openly said.
Shyam pulled the plate and took one from it. so did Sudhakar and Manohar.
"How did you prepare exactly like Ratna?" Anjana asked.
"Is it...? Does it taste like Ratna Maa's dexterity?" Khushi asked.
Ratna smiled, hearing Khushi addressing her Ratna Maa.
"Khushi" Ratna called.
"Mmm?" she turned towards Ratna and bit her tongue.
Ratna chuckled.
"Don't react to me in front of people. They will think you mad" she laughed.
Khushi bit her nail.
"Look at my Chotte... he looks so emotional, eating your puri"
Khushi nodded yes automatically, unaware of the truth that Nani was watching her.
Arnav had the breakfast and went to his room without uttering a single word that disappointed Khushi. She pouted. Ratna came close to her.
"Khushi, go to Chotte's room and ask about your dexterity"
Khushi nodded no.
"Arrey... go... he may want to tell you about it alone"
Khushi sighed.
"Go..."
Khushi went to Arnav's room. She saw him standing at the French door and looking at the rose plant.
"Arnavji..."
Arnav didn't turn. Khushi came close to him,
"Don't you like Mathura aloo puri? I know you like ONLY your mother's handmade food. But, you have to understand that you can't get it again and..."
Cutting her,
"I got it again..." he said emotionally and turned towards her.
Khushi got stuck, seeing his reddened eyes.
"I got it again... through you..." he chocked.
"Arnavji... I..."
In no time, Arnav hugged her, making her eyes popping out. Khushi stood like a statue. She looked behind to check if Ratna was there who left the place in jiffy not wanting to embarrass Khushi.
