Part 32 Khushi's Move

Night

Khushi was in Nani's room. Ratna was sitting next to her.

"Don't you feel to sleep?" She asked.

"This is not fair, Khushi... you are not considering me a ghost" She smiled and Khushi chuckled.

"No sleep... no rest for the ghost. We would always be busy threatening humans" she laughed and Khushi giggled.

"How would your world be? Did you meet any of your relatives there?" Khushi questioned curiously.

Ratna sighed.

"I'm sorry, beta. We are not allowed to speak those things to humans because it's strictly prohibited. If humans get to know about it, they will do unwanted things to control it, right?"

Khushi nodded yes.

"Shall I ask you something?"

"You can ask me anything but I will answer if I can"

Khushi nodded ok.

"May I know why your husband's photo is not in the Pooja room? Why Arnavji hates him?"

Ratna nodded yes.

"He had some other woman in his life... Just before a month of his death, I got to know about it. That one month was the hardest time of my life. I could not hide the true side of his father from Chotte. That's why he started hating him. He didn't allow my mother to keep his photo in the Pooja room too"

"You would have felt hurt..."

"A lot... that's why Chotte hates his father"

"Don't you have any idea who killed you?"

"I really don't know who he is but I can still remember his face"

"But you are not going anywhere then how will you find him out?"

"He should be a hired killer. The main culprit is someone else"

"I don't know how we will find the killer"

Ratna was silent.

"Do you try to go out of this house?"

"I did... after he killed me, I went out and brought the police inspector to save Chotte from the killer. Within four days, I lost the ability to cross RM's limit"

"That means, they knew it was you who saved Arnavji bringing the police..."

Ratna nodded yes.

They saw Nani coming with a glass of milk and handed it to Khushi.

"Thank you Naniji"

Naniji smiled at her and dialed Pandit's number. He attended the call.

"Namaste Pantidji"

"Namaste Maji... Khushi told me about the happenings of your house..."

"I know that Panditji. I didn't call you regarding that. I want to tell you something"

"Tell me Maji"

"Arnav would like to marry Khushi"

"Is it? Thanks to Devi Maiya" he became excited.

"Yes... I want you to fix their wedding date according to their horoscope"

"Sure Maji... I have Khushi's horoscope already. Send me Arnav's horoscope. I will match them and will fix the date"

"Thank you, Panditji. Please, fix the date as soon as possible"

"Sure Maji"

"And, I want you to be the pandit of their wedding"

"It's my pleasure, Maji... I will come to the wedding with my wife"

"Actually, I would like to ask you something else too. Tomorrow is Ratna's death anniversary. Do you want us to do anything on that day?"

Khushi looked at Ratna who nodded yes.

"Maji, I had a talk with Siya's uncle. He is coming to my place tomorrow regarding this. I will let you know what he says"

"You can call me anytime... I will be waiting for you"

"He asked the details about her death timing. Send me her photo if you have one"

"Of course, I have... I will ask Khushi to send Arnav's photo and also Arnav's horoscope to you"

"Ok, Maji. Don't forget to send them to me"

"Ok, Panditji"

Nani disconnected the call.

"Is tomorrow Maji's death anniversary?"

"Yes, Khushi bitiya..."

"Why didn't you tell me about it?"

"Chotte would be stressed if we declared the date in advance"

"Oh... that means, would you perform her death anniversary as per the TITHI?"

(In astrology, one kind of movement of the moon is called TITHI. As per the LUNAR month, the FULL MOON day was the 30th day. It would differ from the English calendar date. In India, a maximum of people perform DEATH anniversaries as per TITHI only)

"Yes... just now our Panditji told that to Manorama"

"Oh... don't you tell Arnavji about it?"

"Just now I told him"

"Oh... what will you do tomorrow?"

"A Panditji will do the Pooja. Everyone from this family will take place in the Pooja"

"Oh..."

"Siya's uncle is coming to her place to discuss our issue tomorrow. By Devi Maiya's grace, he should find some solution to this" Nani said, joining her hands.

"Don't worry, Naniji... hope for good"

"Khushi..." Ratna called her.

"Mmm?"

"Chotte will be so disturbed tomorrow. Usually, he won't stay at home on this day"

Khushi didn't know what to say.

"What do you want me to do?" she asked.

Ratna shook her head like, nothing.

"Khushi bitiya, go to sleep. We should have to wake up early in the morning tomorrow"

"Haan, go to sleep," Ratna said.

Khushi nodded ok and laid on the bed.

Ratna sighed. She didn't know how long she should be battling like this. She felt bad for troubling Khushi for everything. By Devi Maiya's grace, her struggles should come to an end soon, she prayed.

The next day

It was Ratna's death anniversary. The whole family was present for the Pooja in white dress. Khushi witnessed Arnav's teary eyes throughout the day. Ratna was sitting next to him, looking at her son miserably. It seemed she was more bothered about Arnav's sadness than she was killed.

After the pooja, Arnav went to his room, without eating anything. Khushi noticed it.

"Khushi... Chotte didn't eat anything. Please make him have something" Ratna pleaded.

"Me? But..."

"Who else other than you will do that? You are going to be his wife... please go"

Khushi sighed.

Preparing a glass of orange juice, she headed to his room. The door of his room was not fully closed. The room looked empty but she knew he was in the room only. She stepped in without knocking on the door. She saw him sitting at the poolside, starting at the germinated rose plant of his mother.

She looked at Ratna who gestured for her to go. Khushi moved towards him.

Hearing Khushi's anklet sound, he looked at her turning his face. Khushi stopped walking, seeing his reddish eyes. Composing herself, she came to him and stood next to him. Before Khushi said anything,

"I won't prefer to be at home on this day," Arnav started talking, looking at the rose plant.

"But, today... ( He paused for a few seconds) I don't feel to go anywhere because I feel my mother is still here"

Khushi looked at the rose plant where his eyes were rooted. She knew he meant the germination of the plant.

"I don't believe such things... but, when it comes to my mom, I can't be without believing it. Frankly speaking, I want them to be true. I was stunned when you asked me about 'MY MOTHER COMING IN FRONT OF ME'..." he smiled.

Khushi looked at Ratna who looked emotional.

"Even though it's idiotic thinking I'm thinking about it"

Khushi extended the juice glass towards him.

"I don't have the mood to have anything, Khushi"

"Sitting in front of your mother's plant, don't be starving. She would feel bad for you"

Arnav looked at her calmly.

"Would your mother let you be starving? Think about her... if you feel her presence in the plant, don't be starving" She extended the juice glass to him.

Without saying anything, Arnav took the glass and gulped the juice. Khushi smiled at Ratna who was satisfied. He extended the glass back to Khushi. She took it from him smiling. Khushi was about to go,

"Khushi..." he stopped her.

"Jee?" Khushi looked at him.

"Thanks... for everything"

"You are a nice person Arnavji. You might have struggled in your life. Trust your mother, she will make everything right" she said making Ratna emotional.

Arnav chuckled painfully.

"Don't you trust my words?"

"If she could make it right, she would have done that long ago..."

Cutting him,

"Who knows what was her state?" Khushi said without thinking.

Arnav looked at her frowning. He thought she said that in a FLOW.

"What do you mean?"

Khushi was stuck. Composing herself, she said,

"I mean... her soul might have rested in peace... or, someone would have restricted her soul from helping you... Or..."

"What? Restricted her soul? Do you believe such things?" Arnav asked with disbelief.

"Won't you?"

He nodded NO.

"A few days ago, you didn't believe, this plant will germinate... you didn't believe, what I say in FLOW will come true... Likewise, you will believe this too... mark my words"

Arnav stared at her with unknown restlessness. What Khushi said could be possible? He would be happy if his mother's soul rested in the piece. But, what if something happened as Khushi said?

Khushi started walking with the juice glass.

"Khushi..." he called her.

"How do you believe such things?"

"What things?"

"Didn't you say, someone could have restricted my mother's soul from helping me?"

She smiled inwardly and nodded yes.

"How...? How do you know such things?"

"I belong to a spiritual family. I have been brought up hearing so many things... some of them are about God and some of them about soul... I mean ghost"

"Ghost...? (Arnav chuckled) I can't believe this"

"Of course, I too didn't believe it because my Amma wanted me to be brave. So, she made sure I didn't believe such things that would lower anyone's bravery level... but, I can't be without believing it after what happened to my neighbor. That was the incident that changed my mindset completely" she said fearfully.

Ratna frowned. She didn't know what Khushi was trying to do.

Arnav was about to say something, Nani called Khushi.

"Khushi bitiya... please come here"

"Coming, Naniji..."

"Khushi, wait..." Arnav said.

"I will just come..." Khushi rushed out.

Arnav became restless. He wanted to know what made Khushi believe such things so surely. He was fed up as she left him in suspense without telling him about it.

But, Arnav didn't know Khushi would come back to him soon and tell him about the incident because she wanted him to believe such things. That was why she started putting those ideas in his mind slowly.

To be continued...
