Part 7 Feelings

When Nani said her family members were a little haughty-headed, Khushi understood one thing. She should be in distance from those people. Even though she got a chance to speak with them she was not going to act smart because rich people won't like smart poor people. So she decided to play innocent.

The grandeur of RM made her awe-struck. No wonder people in this palace were haughty-headed. She had seen many people in Lucknow being haughty-headed for no reason. Why won't these people be haughty if they rolled on money? She thought.

Khushi stepped inside RM with numerous thoughts. She jerked, feeling something in her heart that she never felt before. She could not conclude what it tried to tell her. But, it was definitely not a bad vibe. She ran her eyes in the spacious living room. Though there was no one she felt someone's presence there.

As it was afternoon, there was no one at RM. Arnav, Shyam, and NK went to the office. Sudhakar and his family were on a US trip. Druv was as usual absent. Only Anjali and Manorama were at home that too in their respective rooms.

The first person Khushi saw in RM was Laxmi. She chuckled, seeing the dressed-up goat. She rushed to Laxmi and caressed it lovingly.

"In our village even people don't have proper clothes to wear... Here, a goat is flaunting with the laced dress..."

Nani smiled.

"It's my pet... Laxmi..."

"Oh... Luckiest goat in the world. Usually, no one raises a goat as a pet but only for meat..."

Nani's face changed grating that. Khushi bit her tongue for talking unwanted.

*Khushi... Stop being clever... You are innocent. Take a grip of your character...* Khushi warned inwardly.

Nani was supposed to say something, but she stopped, hearing,

"When did you come, Sasuma?"

Nani saw Manorama descending the stairs. Khushi looked at her as if she was an alien who was wearing a silk saree and heavy makeup with coolers at home. Khushi met with difficulty not laughing.

Manorama's sight switched to Khushi.

"Who is this?" She asked in her style of English which made Khushi stuck.

"She is Khushi... Shivshankarji's granddaughter..." Nani said.

"Oh... But, what she is doing here, Sasuma?"

"She is going to be here from here on"

"But, our mansion already has enough servant..."

Cutting her,

"She is not a servant but our guest..." Nani uttered with utter strictness.

"Oh..." Manorama looked at Khushi.

"Namaste..." Khushi greeted her.

"Look Ms. Country Folk..."

Khushi dropped her jaw.

"This is not your village... Try to be stylish... Don't say NAMASTE and all but HI and HELLO..."

Khushi sulked.

"As you say, I will try to be stylish like you, mamiji," Khushi said with a serious expression.

"Hey... Excuse me... I'm not mami for you... You don't belong to this family... So, call me AUNTY... Understand?"

"Jee auntyji"

"Not only me, but you should also call everyone uncle and aunty... No mamas and mamis"

"Jee..."

"Manorama, let her breathe first... Khushi bitiya, you can call what you feel"

"That's ok Naniji... It feels nice to learn something new..." Khushi said, looking at Manorama, controlling her laughter.

"Hariprakash..." Nani called.

Hp came from the kitchen.

"She is Khushi. Our guest. Take her to the guest room"

"Jee Naniji" HP took her bag and walked.

"Go with him, Khushi. He will show you the guest room"

Khushi nodded ok and followed HP.

Manorama waited until Khushi vanished from their sight.

"Sasuma... Why would you bring this girl to RM?"

"Her grandfather passed away... She has no one..."

"Then you could have sent her to a women's hostel"

"So what if she stays here?"

"Sasuma... We have three eligible bachelors at our home... She is a young girl and..."

Cutting her,

"Don't you trust your sons, Manorama?"

"Oh... No no... I don't mean it"

"Then? Do you think our sons will fall for a country folk?" Nani asked sarcastically.

"Of course, not... Buy, why should we risk?"

"There is no risk... Even though any of our sons like Khushi get them married... Simple"

"Whaaaat....? No way..."

Nani went to her room laughingly without taking it seriously.

HP kept Khushi's bag in the guest room.

"Call me if you want anything, Khushiji"

"Jee..."

HP left the place.

Khushi sat on the bed. She thought about her suddenly changed life. She didn't know where her life taking her. But, what about the feeling, she was getting from the time she stepped in? She could not understand.

In the meanwhile,

Arnav called Nani on her phone. Nani attended it.

"Haan, Chotte..."

"How are you, Nani?"

"I'm doing great, Chotte"

"When are you coming to Delhi, Nani?" His voice revealed that he missed her very much. Why not? After all, Nani was the only one he had for himself, after his mother.

"I'm in RM only Chotte..."

"Have you reached?"

"Yup... Just now..."

"That's great... Did you bring the girl?"

"Yes, Chotte... I brought her RM"

"You don't worry Nani. I asked Aman to search for a good school for her. Soon we will admit her to the best school"

"School?"

"Han, Nani, we have to send her to school"

Nani wanted to laugh louder. This was interesting.

"Chotte, you come home and see her first"

"Yeah... I will come in an hour"

"Ok, Chotte..."

Nani disconnected the call and laughed. She didn't know what made Arnav think the girl should be a school-going, kid. Let him come... Nani wanted to see his reaction when he got to know the girl, not a kid but a beautiful young girl.

......

Khushi saw Laxmi coming to the guest room. She liked the goat very much. She lifted it in her arms.

"Laxmiji, you are so lucky to know. If you have doubts, ask your siblings or some other mate... Or, have a walk to the market. The eyes of the butcher will tell you how safe you are here"

"Mehhh...." Laxmi shouted as if she got it, making Khushi chuckle.

AR

Arnav stood up from his rolling chair, taking his car key. Sheetal who came to his cabin to get his signature in a file saw him getting ready.

"Are you leaving?"

"Yes..."

"But, it's not even six"

"Nani came from Lucknow... That's why I'm going home"

"You love your Nani so much... Don't you?"

"Tell me, why are you here?" He asked not answering her question.

"This file needs your signature" she extended the file.

Taking it from her, Arnav went through it before signing in it.

"Won't you trust me?" Sheetal asked.

Arnav looked at her frowning.

"Won't you sign without reading the content even when you are in urgency of leaving?"

Arnav raised his brows.

"I never brought you into the trust issue so far... But now, I so want to do it... Because, if you don't have an idea to cheat me, you won't mind me reading it" Arnav smirked.

"Are you suspecting Sheetal? This is nothing but a straight insult to me, Arnav..."

"I said what I feel... It's not my fault if you feel insulted" signing the file, he extended it back to her.

Sheetal glared at him not taking the file. Arnav kept it on his desk and walked out. Sheetal stood, looking at his fading figure. Aman who came to Arnav's cabin said

"What happened Sheetal? You look distressed?"

"Arnav is going overboard... He doesn't mind insulting me, Aman..."

"Insulting? Don't know what's wrong with him. I'm also watching him. He is not minding breaking your heart. I don't think he has feelings for you..."

Sheetal left the place and didn't want to listen to him more. Aman sighed.

RM

Arnav came home buying sweets and chocolates for the little girl who was a newcomer to RM. Why was he so much interested in the girl? Because she had no one... Just like him. Even though Arnav had been surrounded by people he always felt a vacuum in his heart. He just didn't want the small girl to feel the same. It was pure sympathy. The only mistake he did was assuming the girl's age.

Arnav got off the car, taking the sweet box and his coat. He entered RM while loosening his tie. He was about to pull the tie from his neck, his hand stopped in the middle. He sensed something in him. He felt like, the air around him became fresh. RM seemed new to him, like, brighter than before. He felt good.

He headed to Nani's room carrying a sweet box in his hand and a sweet smile on his lips.

That was when Laxmi jumped out of Khushi's hand and ran out of the guest room. Khushi chased it.

"Laxmiji... Don't run..."

When she ran out of the room, she banged with Arnav, stepping on his feet. She stumbled to stand straight, clutching his tie. Arnav got stuck, seeing a young girl standing on his feet, pulling his tie. He held her hand. In no time, he felt a kind of vibration spreading all over his body.

Khushi stepped out of his clutch, shrugging his hand. Arnav was staring at her with mixed feelings. Khushi composed herself.

*Khushiiii... Grip on... Play innocent*

Arnav was about to ask her something, but Khushi's next stance make him drop his jaw.

"I didn't see you coming. I'm sorry UNCLE..."

To be continued...
