Part 72 Change
Khushi's facial expression changed into a horrified one. Arnav saw her and asked,
"Do you know the reason?"
"They have been bewitched so far," She said making them horror-struck.
"Bewitched?"
"Yes, or else, they would not throw up black. The pepper-like substance is nothing but surely about black magic"
"How are you so sure, Khushi?"
"My Nanu told me about it. There was a family in our village affected by black magic. Someone added a black magic thing to their food. After eating that, they were severely affected by numerous diseases. No matter, how many hospitals they visited, or how much money they spent, nothing worked. Pandit Bhaiya's father strongly suspected that it must be wizardry because how could all of them from the same family be affected by the same health issue? He asked them to meet a person who could bring a solution to the problem."
"Did they meet him?" Nani asked.
"Yes... they met him and he found out about the black magic issue. He gave them an incantation solution and asked them to drink it for one week to take it out. After having the solution for a week, they started throwing up continuously. It was black in color and they found small-sized black balls in it. After that, they recovered from all the health issues and became normal"
"Who did that to them?"
"Someone close to them."
"Is it?"
"Yes, they stopped eating anything at their friends' and relatives' places after that."
"Poor them"
"This case also seems the same. I think Sona should have made them eat incantation food"
"But why?" Nani asked.
"To trouble me... didn't we see how they are always against whatever I did?" Arnav said.
"Not only that, Arnavji. I think the Sona clan should have gotten some more benefits through them"
"Like?"
"Money or something. This kind of process needs money. They didn't seem wealthier. To manage their expenses, they should have used Uncle and Aunty..."
"How cheap... to destroy my son, they used his money?" Ratna was wrathful.
"Maybe..."
"But, how did they vomit suddenly? We didn't do anything to get them out of the ties..." Nani asked.
"We did... they started vomiting one hour ago... that means after we burnt the witchcraft..." Khushi said.
"You mean, were they also controlled by it?" Arnav asked.
"They must be... or else, they would not have thrown up. We can confirm it when we meet them"
"How?" Arnav questioned.
"Through their behavior. If they behave opposite to how they behaved before, then, it must be black magic effect"
"Do you want to meet them?" Arnav asked.
"Of course, Arnavji... not just to get confirmed about it but for the courtesy"
"Let's go, then"
"Ratna, you stay at home," Nani said.
Ratna nodded ok because she didn't want to create a scene in the hospital as she was visible to everyone now.
Arnav and Khushi went to the hospital with Nani.
"Arnavji, don't tell them anything about the spell they were in so far," Khushi said.
"Don't they know about it?" Arnav asked.
"Until someone said, they could not know about it"
"Oh..."
"How could we know what they did for the Sona clan?"
"We can get to know only if uncle and aunty find it out by themselves without intention. But, we can't expect them to share with us about it"
"Why?"
"How could they say what they did? Won't they feel ashamed of themselves?"
"Do you think they would have done something that makes them ashamed?"
"Yes, Arnavji... we don't know for what purpose Sona used them. We don't have to worry if they did something light or it was about only money"
"This all really surprised me... I can't believe people could make someone dance as per their wish"
"The bad thing is, they didn't use such a great power in a good way"
"You know what, Khushi, when I met Guruji for the first time, he said there are no people who could handle black magic efficiently. He said such people became rare nowadays"
"He is right Arnavji... it's also like chanting hymns. It's not easy. Not everyone could chant it without mistake. My Nanu said those only who have God's grace could do that. Black magic is also the same. If it is used wrongly, it will affect the person in reverse"
"That means, Sona knew someone efficient in Black Magic. But, from where did she find such a person?" Arnav frowned.
"I think the person belongs to her family," Khushi said thoughtfully.
"What do you mean Khushi?"
"Yes, Arnavji, they started controlling Maji right after her death. How could it be possible if they sought a third person's help? Their actions were so faster, Arnavji. They didn't delay taking Maji's skull from the cemetery. How could it be possible if they hunted for a black magician after the death of Maji? That too, so efficiently?"
Arnav became thoughtful. Khushi was not wrong. If it was right, they should be more cautious.
They reached the hospital. Arnav called Manohar and got to know their ward. The trio headed to the room in which Sudhakar, Anjana, and Shyam were admitted. Manorama, Manohar, Anjali, and Dhruv were sitting out of the room all sad. They saw Arnav, Khushi, and Nani coming.
"Sasuma..." Manorama stood up.
"How are they?"
"Nothing is to say. Just now they stopped vomiting. The doctor injected them and gave them saline"
"What happened?" Nani asked plainly.
"I can't understand anything, Sasuma. They suddenly started vomiting wildly. I was scared like hell as if their intestines might come out through their mouth. Poor them, you didn't see them at that time..." Manorama said horrified.
"What did Doctor say?"
"The Doctors could not understand anything. They could not figure out the exact problem. Everything seems mysterious" Manorama said wearily.
Arnav and Khushi spared a content glance.
"Did they eat anything that makes the digestion hard?"
"No, Sasuma, they ate what I and Anjali ate. Nothing hard"
Arnav peeped inside the room, slightly opening the door. He saw saline had been given to them and they were resting. Though they were in a conscious state they could not talk. They looked so weak and dehydrated.
Sudhakar saw Arnav, opening his eyes slowly. He smiled, seeing Arnav, and extended his hand towards him, asking to come to him. Arnav felt a difference in his gesture. He walked in and sat on his bed. Sudhakar clutched his hand tenderly. What he asked Arnav made him dumbfounded.
"Have you eaten anything, Chotte?"
Arnav faced a tough time being normal. This was how Sudhakar always talked to him when he was young.
"I... did... take care of yourself, first. I will be all right" said Arnav.
"Are you upset with me?" Sudhakar asked.
Arnav remembered what Khushi said. Didn't she say they could not know what happened to them?
"Why would I be upset with you? You did nothing..." Arnav asked plainly.
"Don't know why... it feels like I had done a blunder" Sudhakar said and Arnav felt bad for him.
"Nothing is like that. I'm all right. Come home getting cured"
Sudhakar closed his eyes sighing. There was peace in his face. Arnav saw Anjana looking at them. She smiled at Arnav affectionately. It was more than fifteen years before he witnessed such a sweet gesture from her.
Nani and Khushi came inside with the others.
"Amma..." Sudhakar uttered.
"Don't talk much... take rest..." Nani said.
"It feels good to have a family to take care of," Sudhakar said as if he got a family just now.
Nani looked at Arnav not showing her surprise. Arnav blinked at her.
"We will come home after the saline gets over. You guys go home" Anjana said.
"Chotte, you and Khushi didn't eat anything. Go home and eat something. I will be with them" Nani said.
"That's ok, Nani," Arnav said.
"Arrey, what are you going to do being here? How long will you be starving? Go home. I and Dhruv will bring them home" Manohar said.
Arnav nodded ok and looked at Khushi.
"Let's go"
Khushi followed Arnav.
"I can't believe this, Khushi," Arnav said when they came out of the room.
Khushi nodded yes.
"My Mama talked like how he talked to me twenty years ago. How could it be possible through black magic? Could anyone be spellbound to this extent?"
"They tried to weaken your side Arnavji. So, they concentrate on your strength."
"This is so ridiculous"
"But, true"
They came to the parking lot and got into the car. Arnav started the engine and geared it up. They headed to RM, chitchatting about Sona and her family.
They saw a take diversion board in the middle of the road.
"What the... it will take an extra half an hour to reach RM" saying wearily. Arnav took the left and drove.
They crossed half of the path. Arnav stopped the car in the traffic. Suddenly, Khushi's eyes became broad. She was horrified to see someone.
"Arnavji..." Slipped out of her throat.
Arnav looked at her and then at the direction where she was gazing. They saw Jai Kishan walking on the platform... the killer who killed Ratna.
To be continued...
