My task:The table compares the percentage of households with 8 different types of consumer goods in the UK over the period of 11 years starting in 1972.Looking at the table, it is immediately obvious that the proportion of all consumer durables owned in Britain saw an increase with the exception of that of video. Television registered the highest figures among 8 groups of items throughout the studied period.In 1972, the percentage of houses with television stood at 93%. This figure climbed gradually to 98% in 1983. A similar trend was witnessed in the group of central heating and telephone, where the percentage of household owning these goods less than doubled from 39% and 42% to 64% and 77% from 1972 to 1983 respectively. Refrigerator and washing machine, the second and the third most common item in 1983, also showed upward tendencies, although to a lesser extent.In 1972, 87% of British homes had a vacuum cleaner. This percentage rised to 95% in 1982, the last year in the period in which this item was studied. Dishwasher group exhibited a similar pattern, where the figure saw an increase from 3 to 5 percent from 1978 to 1983. Video was the only item that became a durable in 1983, and 18% British owned this good in their houses.
