Đề bài: Since science and technology are becoming more and more important in modern society, schools should spend more time on teaching these subjects rather than on arts and humanities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Brainstorming:

a. Body 1: spend more time on teaching science and technology

- great influence -> all specializations: industry, agriculture or service

-> almost every practical occupation: require these knowledge to raise productivity, esp labour-intensive jobs

-> more time on these subjects = more likelihood to have a steady and lucrative jobs

-> contribute to the development of the technological world

-> society: thrive

b. Body 2: arts + humanity

- Grasp lessons about science and technology better: arts and humanity

   + inspire creativity and intellectual questioning

   + understand about potential risks to morality and humanity of science and technology

=> gain scientific and technological knowledge effectively with complete awareness and conscience

- Comprehensive development: hone social skills and be instilled good behavior

-> happy life + tight-knit and developed community

My essay:

In the light of the increasing importance of science and technology in society, it is widely believed that schools lay an emphasis on these subjects rather than arts and humanity. While this opinion is valid to a certain extent, I contend that science and technology-related subjects should not be prioritized at school.

It is understandable why people advocate allocating a longer period of time to science and technology's lessons. The key rationale is that these two ranges of knowledge have a great influence on virtually all fields in industry, agriculture and service. Almost every practical occupation, especially high-tech jobs require these knowledge to raise productivity. Therefore, the increasing hours studying those subjects can help students to have a great command of science and technology, which may raise their likelihood to land a steady and lucrative job in the future. These students, especially talented ones, can contribute to the development of our today technological world, and thus society can thrive positively.

However, besides science and technology, I believe that arts and humanity are also indispensable in the curriculum and should not be disregarded. These subjects can act as a catalyst for the better grasp of scientific and technological knowledge of students. They do not only inspire creativity and intellectual questioning but also make pupils understand well about potential risks to morality and humanity of science and technology. As a result, students can gain scientific and technological knowledge effectively with complete awareness and conscience. Arts and humanity are also a contributor to people's comprehensive development. By studying them, students have the chance to hone social skills and be instilled good behavior, which is necessary for them to live a happy life and build a tight-knit and developed community.

In conclusion, while there are reasons to support focusing on science and technology in lieu of arts and humanity at school, I believe that these subjects should be treated without any discrimination and bias.
