Old

If you asked the people of Liyue Harbor and Qingce Village, they'd say y/n was a very responsible person.

She did everything that was asked of her, within reason of course, and was really good with other people. She helped out where she could and did everything in her power to stay out of trouble.

But, uh-

'...I don't like this. I don't like this at all.'

She always found herself in some of the worst situations. For example, this one.

Y/n looked miserable as she walked along with Aether and Paimon, refusing to utter a word to either of them out of spite.

Aether had threatened to frame her for beating up those Millelith soldiers. She assumed he was lying when he started talking about all those horrible things that might happen to her, but the faintest trace of uncertainty in his tone made it clear that even he didn't know what would become of her should the Millelith be under the impression that she killed Rex Lapis.

Killing an archon... how the hell could she have down that?! She could hardly handle geovishaps!

'Right after I helped them too...! I should've known! Backstabbers!' Y/n thought, scolding herself for her foolishness.

Y/n had only been to Jueyun Karst a couple of times with the one who had first helped her get settled in Liyue but it had been a while since she'd last visited.

Fortunately, she remembered how to find a certain adeptus. Her and her guide had passed by this area and he had taken the time to explain why she shouldn't venture there without a Sigil of Permission.

"Here we are..." y/n sighed, "Can I leave now? I'd rather not be seen around you?"

"What about the Millelith?"

"I've got some hiding spots."

"Nope, you're staying with us!" Paimon exclaimed and y/n sighed, a bit annoyed.

"Knew you'd say that." she said heavily.

"And who might we be? Those that dare enter Jueyun Karst?" a new voice questioned and y/n squealed, immediately hiding behind Aether for safety as soon as she spotted who the voice belonged to.

It looked like a deer of some sort. Ah, wait no, a stag. Y/n had recalled reading something about this adeptus on a tablet not too far off from their current location.

'Moon Carver, the disciple of Rex Lapis. The kindest adeptus amongst all in the manifestation of a stag.' y/n recalled.

Aether turned around, oddly calm though y/n noticed his heart was beating rather fast. Aha, so he actually was nervous!

"I was sent here." the blond replied calmly and y/n marveled at how steady his voice was as he held out the Sigil of Permission, "Please, take a look at this."

"A Sigil of Permission..." Moon Carver murmured, "Many a season has passed since one was last in the presence of such an item. He before you is the mighty and illuminated adeptus, Moon Carver. Speak, traveler. What business have you here?"

"Actually-" Paimon began to say and was startled by y/n turning abruptly in alarm towards the direction they had come..

"It's the assassin! They dared to flee here to Jueyun Karst!" a Millelith Soldier exclaimed then spotted y/n, frowning when he saw her, "And... Miss Y/n?"

The h/c haired girl's heart sunk, "Oh no, this is it for me. I'm definitely screwed."

"SHE FAINTED AGAIN!" Paimon cried as y/n swayed before falling over, Aether being there to catch her before she could hit the ground and possibly hurt herself.

"Sir, we've already stepped too far into Jueyun Karst ourselves..." one of the soldiers informed the Sergeant nervously.

"We... argh, there's no choice. Apprehending the assassin is top priority, we must press on!" the Sergeant exclaimed and Aether deadpanned.

'Seriously???'

"...disturbing our borders. See them gone. One will not have interruption." Moon Carver told Aether who nodded.

But, right as he was preparing to fight-

"I'll take care of this." y/n spoke up and Paimon squeaked when the woman, who was definitely sleepwalking, stood up.

"I'm never going to get used to this-" Aether sighed then blinked when he realized y/n had taken his sword.

"Stand back you two. I'll protect you." she said, eyes remaining closed as she turned in the direction of the Millelith soldiers, "I don't want to hurt you. Last chance, leave these two alone. They're innocent."

Ha, idiots charged anyways.

Y/n sighed heavily, exasperated.

Aether blinked once and only managed to see a blur of h/c as y/n took all the Millelith soldiers out in a flash. No, she didn't kill them. What type of person do you think she is, huh?

A murderer?

No, of course not.

But, uh-

"HOLY SKWGWIWGSJEGEIGEEJ THEY'RE DEAD, IT HAPPENED AGAIN!!!" y/n shrieked, clinging to a tree then pointed at Aether, "YOU DID IT, DIDN'T YOU?"

"What? No, I didn't!" Aether said indignantly, resting his hands on his hips, "You took my sword!"

Y/n looked at her hand where there was indeed a sword which belonged to Aether.

"Y-You-"

"Don't even start."

"We've digressed. State your purpose, traveler." Moon Carver hummed as Aether turned back to the adeptus.

"Well..." Paimon began then hastily explained the current situation to Moon Carver.

"Preposterous..." Moon Carver murmured then boomed, "PREPOSTEROUS!!!"

"YOU MORONS, YOU MADE HIM ANGRY!" y/n squeaked and Aether ducked to avoid having his head cut off by his own sword after y/n threw it at him.

"Calm down for a second!" he snapped at the woman who glared daggers right back at him.

"The Liyue Qixing... utterly disappointing How could someone possibly assassinate Rex Lapis during the Rite of Descension... and then place suspicion upon the attendees!?" Moon Carver demanded, "Traveler, of the unjust accusations placed upon you, one has become aware."

'He's right... as much as I like Miss Ningguang... how could someone on the ground assassinate a god? Especially one who is in the sky.' y/n thought with frown.

"The mind knows its answer. Though one must consult with one's fellows, lest the mind be misguided. Go. Take your Sigil of Permission, carry with you a message." Moon Carver instructed the trio.

"Who should I look for?" Aether asked, "And where will I find them?"

"Mountain Shaper and Cloud Retainer can be found here. Only fate will decide if you shall find them — only fate." Moon Carver hummed, "There exists a Conqueror of Demons, a Guardian Yaksha. Go to Wangshu Inn. There you shall seek him."

"D-Demons!?" y/n squeaked and flinched when Aether looked at her, "No! No way! I will not go with you! I ref-"

Y/n cut of with a shrill screech when Aether dragged her out of the tree and slung her over his shoulder, simply marching away and ignoring her protests.

"I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS!!!"

(I love his facial expressions)

(And look at Xiao-)

(He looks so done-)
