The next day, y/n was super out of it as she was eating breakfast with Gramps, Kaori and Itto who had just invited himself on in.
Usually, y/n would be really cheerful while eating due to their lovely little spot.
They had a clear view of y/n's garden once the doors were opened and the sound of wind chimes surrounded them while they ate together.
Today, however, the wind chimes had an ominous sound.
Y/n didn't like it, it set her on edge.
"Oh yeah, those two clowns who used to bother y/n had their houses burned down last night." Kaori announced and y/n choked on her food.
What the what???
"W-What?! Really?!" y/n cried in disbelief, 'NOW THEY'RE GONNA TARGET MEEE!!!!'
"Is that so? Serves them right!" Itto exclaimed.
"ITTO, YOU'RE NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!!!!"
"Mm, what a shame." Kaori murmured, an unreadable expression upon her usually gentle face, "You walked home with Thoma yesterday, didn't you? I thought he'd stay for dinner but he left so quickly."
"He was almost killed."
"Huh-"
"An arrow came out of nowhere and almost hit him." y/n whispered, e/c eyes filled with terror, "There was a note on it. It said start running..."
Gramps, Itto and Kaori all stared with blank expressions.
"Wow."
"That's weird."
"Cool."
"WHAT'S WITH THAT REACTION, THOMA AND I ALMOST DIED!!!!" y/n cried.
"Maybe someone wants to kill you?" Itto suggested and y/n screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Itto, you moron!" Kaori spat and smacked him on the back of the head.
"Hey! Watch the hair!" Itto protested, covering his head as Kaori scolded him.
"GRAMPS, DID YOU HEAR HIM!???" y/n screeched as the old man very calmly drank his medicine, "SOMEONE WANTS TO KILL ME!!!! I'M GONNA DIE!!!!"
Y/n flopped on her back and rolled around on the floor in tears, "NO NO NO NOOOOOO!!!"
"Calm down already!" Gramps snapped, "Nobody is trying to kill you."
"Eh? B-But the note..." a teary eyed y/n squeaked.
Gramps sighed heavily and threw a tissue at y/n's face, "It wasn't for you."
As y/n used the tissue to wipe away her tears, "Then who was it for?"
"Probably for Thoma." Kaori suggested with a scowl, "He's far too comfy with you and I can imagine someone protective of you might not like that."
"Someone protective of me..." y/n mumbled.
Just as she spoke, the doors to their lovely little spot opened to reveal a drowsy Haiyang.
He had clearly just woken up, blinking blearily as he stared at the small group.
There was silence.
"SUI!!!" y/n cried, practically throwing herself at the sleepy god, "YOU'RE ALIVE!!! I THOUGHT YOU WERE GONNA DIE AND LEAVE ME ALL ALONE AND-"
"I'm fine, y/n. Don't cry." Haiyang said gently, patting y/n's head gently.
"Told you he just needed rest." Gramps sighed as his student clung to the puzzled Haiyang.
"Sui?" Kaori murmured then tensed, "Y/n."
"I know, I know!" y/n whined as Haiyang looked around the room.
"Ah, y/n told me about you." he stated, "You, Miss Shrine Maiden, must be Kaori. You, Sir, must be the Gramps she speaks so fondly of. And you..."
Haiyang frowned, "I would ask if you were Ayumu but you don't quite fit the description."
"Of course I'm not him! We're like two completely different people!" Itto snapped, "You don't know who I am? Did y/n not tell you about me?"
"No. And I can see why." Haiyang said in a flat tone.
"WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?!"
"Mm..." Haiyang pointedly ignored Itto and turned to y/n instead, "How long was I asleep?"
"HEY! FISH BOY, DON'T IGNORE ME!!!"
The cerulean haired man paused before fixing Itto with a piercing glare.
Y/n and Kaori both flinched while Gramps continued finishing up his medicine.
"What did you call me?" Haiyang asked in a blank tone.
There was fury in those burning steel blue eyes of his and his presence alone was so suffocating to the point where it seemed like he was forcing Itto into submission with his stare alone.
Our lovely himbo, of course, didn't back down.
Instead, he stood and grinned back at Haiyang furiously.
"You heard me loud and clear, Fish Boy." Itto said fearlessly, "Got a problem with it?"
"Hey! Cut it out you two!" Kaori protested.
Haiyang's eyes narrowed, "I suggest you sit back down and keep your mouth shut."
"Or what?" Itto challenged, crossing his arms.
The cerulean haired man's brows raised a little, "Oh? You really want to know? I knew you oni folk were quite foolish but it seems as though you've reached a new level of stupidity."
Y/n suddenly felt very small...
In between Haiyang's overwhelming pressure and Itto's terrifying stare, she felt as though she were going to melt. They were both so dang hot, what the what???
"Very well, keep on testing my patience and you'll see!" Haiyang said sharply.
Before either Itto or Haiyang could move, they were hit in the face by two empty bowls.
The one who threw them?
Gramps.
The old man looked irritated and adorned a scowl, "If you two are going to fight, do it outside. Let Kaori, Y/n and I enjoy our breakfast in peace you fools. If you wish to stay, refrain from causing trouble."
Haiyang and Itto cast one last furious glance at one another before they sat down on either side of y/n, looking like two kids who had just been scolded.
Breakfast continued, y/n feeding a much happier Haiyang while Itto scowled at the two of them.
As Kaori watched this interaction, she found herself smiling. As bizarre as Haiyang was, it was nice to know y/n found s good friend in Liyue. As for Itto, she could tell he was just as happy to see y/n again as everyone else was.
If only the happiness could last a little longer...
'Y/n doesn't have to go back to Liyue just yet.' Kaori assured herself with a little nod, 'We don't have to part ways just yet.'
