25 The Camp
Part 25 The Camp
Gupta House
Khushi came home, thinking about Arnav. She didn't know why he didn't want her to tell Shashi about her love for Arnav. She didn't know what was in his mind and what his plan was.
Shashi saw her entering with a deep thought.
"Khushi..."
"Haan?" she jerked.
"What are you thinking? Where were you?"
"I was arranging for a blood donation camp for my birthday. I'm thinking about it."
Shashi and Garima looked at each other in surprise.
"Blood donation camp? Why? You had never done that..."
"I never did that. That's why I thought to do it before my marriage."
Shashi smiled and nodded.
"When is the camp?"
"Tomorrow... in the community hall..."
"You didn't say anything to me? How did you arrange it without anyone's help?"
Khushi was stuck.
"I did that with the help of my college friend."
"I see... that's great..."
"I'm tired... I'm going to my room..."
"Have something..." Garima said with concern.
"I will eat after getting fresh..."
Garima nodded ok. Khushi went to her room.
"Isn't she looking different today?" Garima asked.
Shashi nodded.
"It seems everything is falling in the right place," Garima said, feeling relieved.
Khushi went to her room and got fresh, thinking about Arnav. A cute smile appeared on her face when she thought about her proposal. Her smile broadened when she thought about how Arnav became a statue after receiving her kiss. She was the only person who shocked the mighty Arnav Singh Raizada. She bit her lip. She wanted to call Arnav, but she had to go downstairs for dinner. She should deal with her parents' few more questions. So, she thought to call him after answering them. She wanted to convey them to him without delay.
Khushi came downstairs. She saw Shashi and Garima in the living room, watching the news. She went to the dining table, self-served and started eating.
Garima rushed to the table and asked,
"You could have called me... I would have served you..."
"How long could I expect you to serve me? I should get used to it, right?"
Garima was stuck.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, I can't expect anyone to serve in my in-laws' house..."
"Why are you talking like this, Khushi? You are going to marry a BIG-SHOT of the city..."
"Big-shot is not him but his mother..." Khushi said, cutting her off.
Garima was stuck for a while,
"So what? Amritaji will treat you like a queen..."
"Who is the King?" Came from Khushi.
Garima was again stuck. She looked at Khushi like, "What happened to you?"
"You will not have to eat by yourself. I'm sure about it."
Khushi ate without saying anything. Garima sat next to her, looking at her.
"I thought you accepted our decision..." She said hesitatingly.
Khushi looked at her, stuffing the rotti in her mouth, and said nothing. Garima could not understand what that LOOK meant.
Khushi stopped eating when she heard,
"Namaste, Malik madam..." Shashi was talking to Amrita Malik.
She closed her eyes, annoyingly.
"Jee...Khushi has been arranged for a blood donation camp for her birthday."
"Is it? This is great. I feel proud of my daughter-in-law. This is truly appreciable..." she said proudly.
"Thank you, madam..."
"I want you to be a part of the camp," Shashi said, and Khushi was shocked. She gritted her teeth. Why the hell was her father making all the decisions on her behalf?
"Oh, sure..." Amrita Malik agreed readily.
"Thank you so much, Madam. Khushi would be happy." He smiled.
Khushi wanted to bang her head on the wall. Shashi came to the dining room after disconnecting the call.
Khushi stood up, finishing dinner.
"I hope you are happy because Amritaji will visit the camp, because it will bring many people to the camp, and it will make the camp successful."
Khushi understood his intention. Yet, she was irritated because she didn't know Arnav would attend the camp if Rajesh were present there. She went to her room and called Arnav. He didn't attend the call. Khushi sighed. She threw the phone on the bed and paced in her room. Aranv called her back in five minutes.
"Haan, Khushi... I was in a foreign client meeting..."
"Did it get over?"
"Not yet... I took a break to talk to you."
"I'm sorry..."
"Don't be... is anything important?"
"Dad invited Amrita Malik to the blood donation camp..."
"Oh, that's nice. It will become a publicity for the camp..."
"Will you come?"
"Why not? I will definitely come..."
"But Amrita Malik will come... Rajeshe may also..."
"They will be present at your birthday also... yet, I will be there..."
"I don't know what you are planning. I'm scared..."
"Why fear, when I'm here?"
"That's what gives me strength."
"It will be worth it..."
"I will be waiting for you tomorrow..."
"I will be there on time..."
"Mmm..."
"See you tomorrow. Be relaxed..."
"I don't know how you are going to stop the marriage..." she said in a low tone.
"Trust me..."
"I trust you, and I love you..."
Arnav smiled and said,
"I love you too... bye..." he disconnected the call.
Khushi smiled at her phone.
Malik Residence
Amrita was sitting in the living room, crossing her legs. She saw Rajesh entering the home.
"Hi, Mom..."
"Tomorrow we will have to go somewhere..."
"Where, Mom?"
"To a blood donation camp..."
"Blood donation camp?" he frowned.
"Yes... Khushi arranged it for her birthday."
"Really?"
"Yes, we should be part of it... We will also donate blood. What say?"
"What an idea, Mom? I will gain goodwill from Khushi. She will be satisfied if I donate blood at her birthday camp. Am I right?"
"Cent per cent right..."
"Will her parents also be there?"
"Of course, her father is the one who called me..."
Rajesh hesitated.
"Whaaat?"
"Mom, what if her parents asked about Dad?"
Amrita's face became rigid.
"Do you want them to know what happened in our house...?"
"No... certainly not... not only Guptas but also anyone should know about it..." Amrita said furiously.
"But they will ask for Dad because he has been with us every time..."
Amrita nodded.
"Bring him also with us..." She said and left the place.
Rajesh huffed in relief.
The next day
Arnav made all the needed arrangements for the blood donation camp, without his presence. Khushi was waiting for Arnav. She rolled her eyes in irritation when Rajesh got out of the car with Amrita and Avinash. Shashi and Garima rushed to welcome them. Khushi pretended to receive people.
"We are happy about your presence..." Garima smiled.
"Please, come..." Shashi brought them inside.
"Khushi... see, who is here..."
Khushi plastered a smile.
"How are you, Khushi?" Amrita asked.
Khushi smiled.
"To appreciate your motive, I came here. I'm proud of you. I will arrange for a blood camp every year on your birthday." She said.
"Wow... what a mother-in-law..." Garima smiled.
Khushi saw Rajesh grinning. She was highly irritated.
"We would like to donate blood..." Rajesh said.
"Is it? Wow... that's great... please come..."
Rajesh came and sat on the bed, smirking at Khushi.
Rajesh sat on the recliner to donate blood, along with Amrita and Avinash. A nurse inserted an injection that was connected to a pouch.
That was when Khushi saw Arnav getting out of the car. Her face lit. She rushed to him smilingly and shook hands with him, making Rajesh's stomach burn.
To be continued...
