DESTINY CHAPTER 41 [28th April 2010]

It was just before dinner and Taeyeon was sitting in the living room with Soo-jung. The both of them were watching TV together.

Soo-yeon was in the kitchen preparing dinner for the both of them. Taeyeon wanted to help but Soo-yeon refused.

Taeyeon felt like the luckiest person on earth.

In the time that she was seated there with Soo-jung, they talked a bit about Soo-yeon.

Soo-jung actually told Taeyeon that she has never seen her sister this happy before.

Taeyeon was very glad that she had the ability to bring Soo-yeon so much joy.

“My sister really loves you,” Soo-jung said to Taeyeon.

“I know, I love her very much too,” Taeyeon told Soo-jung.

“I’m happy for the both of you, and I’m happy that finally there’s someone who can really take care of my sister,” Soo-jung said with a sweet smile.

“Thank you little sister,” Taeyeon said as she gave Soo-jung a friendly squeeze.

“I’m happy too,” Soo-jung admitted, “Now I have two older sisters to care for me.”

Taeyeon laughed, “My pleasure, little one.”

Soo-yeon happened to walk out with a tray of food at that moment.

“The both of you seem to be having a great conversation. What are you talking about?” Soo-yeon asked.

“It’s a secret,” Taeyeon teased playfully.

“You sure are very cheeky today aren’t you?” Soo-yeon said as she wrinkled her nose and made a funny face at Taeyeon.

Taeyeon could tell that Soo-yeon was happy that she got along with Soo-jung.

“Come on Soo-jung, we better help your sister before she complains that we’re ganging up against her again!” Taeyeon said as she nudged Soo-jung.

“I’ll help you to set the table my lady,” Taeyeon said as she took the tray from Soo-yeon.

“And I’ll help with the rice!” Soo-jung said as she ran into the kitchen.

Soo-yeon could not help but smile at their actions.

It felt like they were a warm family.

After the meal, Taeyeon and Soo-jung wiped down the table and washed the dishes.

The three of them ended up watching TV together in the living room.

Midway, Taeyeon’s phone rang.

She checked out the caller ID and saw that it was a private number.

She excused herself and went out on the balcony to take the call.

***

Taeyeon’s phone just rang and she went out to answer her phone.

Soo-yeon got distracted by that.

It must be something to do with her job.

Taeyeon stood outside for quite a while before she returned to the living room.

“So who was that?” Soo-yeon asked casually.

“Oh just someone, it’s about work,” Taeyeon replied skillfully in front of Soo-jung.

“I see,” Soo-yeon said. She got the hint.

After a while, Soo-jung was tired so she went to bed since she had to go to school the next day.

Taeyeon and Soo-yeon sat closer to each other after they were left alone.

“So what was the call about?” Soo-yeon questioned. She was curious.

“It’s not much, there’s a little boy who’s missing. It’s a cold case since the police can’t get anything so the parents came to us,” Taeyeon explained.

fnbsp;

“I see, so you’re taking up the job?” Soo-yeon asked Taeyeon as she leaned on Taeyeon’s shoulder.

“Yes I am. It’s so painful for the parents since he’s their only child,” Taeyeon said as she nodded her head slightly. Her eyes were still glued to the TV screen.

“It’s not a dangerous job is it?” Soo-yeon was slightly worried.

“Silly don’t worry, it’s nothing I can’t handle,” Taeyeon reassured. She slipped an arm around Soo-yeon and pulled her closer.

“Why don’t you consider switching to a full time photographer?” Soo-yeon tried her luck at persuading Taeyeon.

The thought of Taeyeon getting into another accident scared her.

She could not imagine life without Taeyeon now that she had her.

“I love photography but I love investigating more, it’s very satisfying,” Taeyeon said as she continued watching TV.

“But it’s so dangerous...” Soo-yeon pointed out.

“No it’s not as long as I’m careful,” Taeyeon said nonchalantly.

“But anything can happen,” Soo-yeon continued, “And you’re still a girl.”

“Don’t be silly, I’ve been doing it for so long and I have always enjoyed my work. It’s my passion.” Taeyeon said, making it quite clear that she would not give up her work.

“If something happens to you, I won’t be able to continue alone,” Soo-yeon said softly.

Taeyeon finally turned her head. She looked into Soo-yeon’s eyes.

Soo-yeon saw the determination in her eyes when she spoke.

“Nothing will happen and I’ll be extra careful now that I have you. I won’t allow you to live your life without me,” Taeyeon said sincerely, “That, is a promise I make to you.”

Soo-yeon knew that it was almost impossible to make Taeyeon change her mind about her job.

Soo-yeon finally relented, “Ok. Promise me 9ou’ll take extra care of yourself.”

“For you, I will.”

A gentle kiss on Soo-yeon’s forehead ensued.

Soo-yeon sighed and snuggled up to Taeyeon.

“So how do you go about investigating the case?” Soo-yeon asked. She was curious.

“It’s actually all about gathering information and piecing the clues together. The parents will give us all the information we need and then we start from there,” Taeyeon explained briefly.

It was as if she did not want to reveal the finer details.

“You don’t have to start working tomorrow do you?” Soo-yeon tilted her head upwards and asked as she looked at Taeyeon.

“No, tomorrow belongs to you and so does friday. My colleague will start working on the case first,” Taeyeon said reassuringly.

“Thank you, girlfriend,” Soo-yeon said with a smile.

She liked it that Taeyeon honored her promises so well. It was rare that the both of them were free and her father was not around until Saturday.

Taeyeon was going to stay over at her place until Friday afternoon.

“I want to as well,” Taeyeon said with a smile.

“So what are we doing tomorrow?” Soo-yeon asked. The thought of spending two more days with Taeyeon made her very happy.

“Let’s indulge in your favorite activity,” Taeyeon said.

“And what’s that?” Soo-yeon asked.

“Laze in bed,” Taeyeon said with a cheeky expression.

“You need to keep up to date my dear. My new favorite ac4ivity is kissing you,” Soo-yeon said. She was up to her own mischief.

“We’ll see if my girlfriend ends up lazing in bed. We’ll know tomorrow,” Taeyeon said with a knowing grin.

“I will if you stay in bed and kiss me all day,” Soo-yeon continued. She knew that Taeyeon was shy about such topics and she wanted to tease her.

Soo-yeon thrived Taeyeon’s shy reaction.

It was not so long ago that Soo-yeon realised the truth about Taeyeon’s ears turning red.

When Soo-yeon found out through Sunny, Taeyeon almost wanted to dig a hole in the ground and di3appear. Her ears were the reddest shade Soo-yeon or Sunny had ever seen.

“My dear, you’re not succeeding,” Taeyeon said.

“Really?” Soo-yeon said with a sparkle in her eyes.

“Really,” Taeyeon insisted.

Soo-yeon ran her fingers gently along Taeyeon’s jaw line and brushed against Taeyeon’s lips intentionally.

“It’s true, I want you more than anything else,” Soo-yeon whispered seductively.

She shifted herself so that she was straddled across Taeyeon’s lap.

“You know how much I want you, don’t you?” Soo-yeon purred as she looked deeply into Taeyeon’s eyes.

Soo-yeon lifted her hands to tuck Taeyeon’s hair behind her ears.

She leaned forward and kissed Taeyeon’s right ear before whispering, “Now, tell me if I’ve succeeded.”

Taeyeon swallowed hard.

Her ears were bright red, but for a different reason.

DESTINY CHAPTER 42 [29th April 2010]

Taeyeon woke up to see that Soo-yeon was still soundly asleep.

Soo-yeon had her arms around Taeyeon’s waist, and her cheeks were rested against Taeyeon’s bare shoulders.

Taeyeon thought of what happened the night before and her ears turned a bright crimson.

It was an intense night.

It was also a first for the both of them.

She turned to look at Soo-yeon and all she felt was bliss.

Nobody could be more fortunate than she was.

Soo-yeon was hers. Even more so after what happened last night.

Taeyeon did not know what time it was but it sure did seem like it was already afternoon.

Taeyeon could not bear to wake Soo-yeon. She did not want to as well.

Taeyeon just stayed in bed, beside Soo-yeon.

She tenderly brushed Soo-yeon's hair to the side so that she could get a better look at her pretty face.

Any child of hers would definitely look ravishing. It's a pity we can't.....

Taeyeon leaned in and touched Soo-yeon's forehead very gently with her lips.

"Why will such a beautiful girl like you choose to be with a girl like me," Taeyeon said to herself.

She knew that she would not get a reply and she did not expect any.

"If I could choose, I'll be a guy so that I can give you a happy family," Taeyeon murmured to herself.

Taeyeon stroked Soo-yeon's hair lovingly. She was always more at ease doing all this when Soo-yeon was not conscious of it.

A beep from Taeyeon's phone distracted her from Soo-yeon.

She reached for her phone and read the message that just came through.

It was her colleague who was investigating the new case at work.

Taeyeon frowned when she finished reading the message.

"Baby, why are you frowning," Taeyeon heard Soo-yeon say in a sleepy voice.

"My colleague just sent me a message about the case and said that he needs my brain," Taeyeon said in summary.

"Can't he leave my darling alone for just two days," Soo-yeon whined.

"Well every second counts," Taeyeon explained, "For all you know the little boy may be out there suffering and he needs our help."

Instead of losing her frown, Taeyeon's frown deepened. It was evident to Soo-yeon that Taeyeon had her mind occupied with work.

Taeyeon sat up and made a phone call to her partner at work.

They ended up talking for a good half an hour before Taeyeon finally hung up.

"I'm sorry," Taeyeon apologised for the long call.

"It's ok," Soo-yeon said sweetly.

She was looking at Taeyeon and smiling very sweetly at the same time. It was unusual.

It did not take long for Taeyeon to realise why.

Taeyeon's ears heated up and so did her cheeks. She quickly picked up her t-shirt that was laying by her feet and slipped it on.

Soo-yeon giggled.

"My Baby is so focused when she works," Soo-yeon said as she continued to look at Taeyeon dreamily.

"I’m hungry. I'm going to wash up now so that we can go out for lunch soon," Taeyeon said as she put on her shorts and quickly made her exit.

All she heard when she left the room was the sound of Soo-yeon's giggle.

Taeyeon bumped into Soo-jung when she stepped out of the room.

"Oh..Good afternoon Taeyeon unnie," Soo-jung greeted her.

"Good afternoon, you’re back from school already huh."

"Omo your face is so red, are you ok? Do you have a fever?" Soo-jung said as she put a hand to Taeyeon's forehead.

The door behind Taeyeon swung open and Soo-yeon walked out. She slipped her arms around Taeyeon's waist before she replied Soo-jung.

"Your Taeyeon unnie isn't having a fever. She's just feeling really hot," Soo-yeon said with a cheeky smile.

Soo-yeon placed a hand to Taeyeon's cheek before she gave her a light peck on the other cheek.

"Unnie! At least wait till I'm gone..." Soo-jung said as she covered her eyes shyly and walked away.

Taeyeon could feel the heat radiating from her face.

Soo-yeon couldn't care less. There was an overflowing amount of love she felt for Taeyeon and she wanted to express it freely in her own home.

“So baby, tell me i’ve succeeded again,” Soo-yeon said with a very cheeky grin.

“You’re so adorable when you’re shy. I can’t believe such a smart, charming individual like you can be so bashful.”

“And you my dear are the most forward person in the entire universe,” Taeyeon sighed.

“It’s like you never feel abashed ever.”

Soo-yeon sniggered, “Baby, get used to it.”

“I will soon enough,” Taeyeon said as she nuzzled Soo-yeon’s nose with hers.

“Now, let’s wash up and shower.”

Soo-yeon nodded and then playfully whispered into Taeyeon’s ears. “You mean together?”

“Soo-yeon ah, you’re so cheeky. I may just join my colleague at work today.”

“Meaaaannniie!” Soo-yeon pouted.

Taeyeon finally laughed.

“Ok my dear I’m just kidding, you know I’d love to spend the entire day with you.”

Soo-yeon took the opportunity to give Taeyeon a kiss on the lips.

“Stop it, what if Soo-jung sees us,” Taeyeon said quickly after she returned the kiss.

“So what,” Soo-yeon said defiantly.

She held on to Taeyeon’s cheeks and starting planting multiple kisses on Taeyeon’s lips.

Taeyeon tickled Soo-yeon and she struggled to get free. The both of them ended up running around the house like little children.

“Now now kids, stop running around.” Soo-jung said mimicking an adult.

All three of them broke into a laugh after that.

***

Taeyeon and Soo-yeon just had lunch with Soo-jung at a restaurant near their place.

They walked Soo-jung back before they left for the nearby park.

They were having a nice stroll when Soo-yeon’s phone rang.

Soo-yeon stared at the screen and hesitated for a while before rejecting the phone call.

“What’s wrong?” Taeyeon asked, sensing the hesitation.

Soo-yeon shook her head and continued walking with Taeyeon.

“Let’s just enjoy the rest of our day,” Soo-yeon said without answering Taeyeon’s question.

“Ok baby,” Taeyeon said as she lifted Soo-yeon’s hands to her lips.

Soo-yeon smiled when she did that.

“That’s my girl. You look better when you smile.” Taeyeon said with satisfaction.

Soo-yeon then whispered to Taeyeon, “In this case, I’ll always look good when you’re around me. Only you make me smile.”

“Come on let’s take a seat over there so that we can smile at each other all day,” Taeyeon said as she pointed to a bench under a tree.

They both of them walked over and sat down.

Taeyeon stretched her arms and was about to place it around Soo-yeon when someone called her name.

DESTINY CHAPTER 43 [29th April 2010]

Taeyeon whipped her head around at the sound of her name and she quickly placed her arm on the back of the bench instead of on Soo-yeon’s shoulders.

She recognised the voice. It was that of Jonghyun, her colleague at work.

He was running towards her with a smile.

“Oh..Jonghyun what are you doing here?” Taeyeon asked when he was in fron4 of her.

“I’m doing some ground work for the case. The family lives around the area.” Jonghyun replied.

“Hi. I’m Jonghyun.” Jonghyun waved to Soo-yeon and flashed a bright boyish smile.

“Hi. I’m Soo-yeon.” Soo-yeon returned a polite smile.

“So how’s it coming along? Manage to find any clues?” Taeyeon asked with genuine concern for the case. Her enthusiasm for her job showed in her voice.

It was obvious that it had been nagging at her all day.

Jonghyun pursed his lips and knitted his eyebrows. “I’m afraid not.”

“What’s the problem?” Taeyeon asked. It was evident from their interactions that she was the more seasoned investigator.

Jonghyun sat down beside Taeyeon and the both of them started talking.

It took Taeyeon a while to realise that Soo-yeon was quietly sitting beside her.

“Oh hey Jonghyun, I’m thirsty can you get me a drink?” Taeyeon asked pleasantly. She wanted to get him away so that she could have some time to talk to Soo-yeon alone.

“Sure, I’ll get you the usual.” Jonghyun replied enthusiastically, “You want anything?” Jonghyun asked Soo-yeon.

“No it’s ok,” Soo-yeon shook her head.

Jonghyun then ran off in the direction of a nearby convenience store.

“I’m sorry baby I didn’t expect this. Just give me a little bit more time and I’ll give you my full attention ok?” Taeyeon said with an apologetic look on her face.

Soo-yeon shook her head and crossed her arms.

“Ok...I’ll tell Jonghyun we have to leave when he comes back.” Taeyeon said not wanting Soo-yeon to be unhappy.

“It’s ok,” Soo-yeon said with a serious face.

“I love the way you are when you work, you’re just so charming,” Soo-yeon said as she broke into a smile.

“Phew,” Taeyeon heaved a sigh of relief.

“You have to make it up to me tonight,” Soo-yeon replied cheekily.

Taeyeon pinched Soo-yeon’s cheeks gently. “Is that all you think of huh?”

Soo-yeon grinned. “I can’t help it. You’re too attractive.”

Taeyeon laughed at her comment. She was honestly relieved that Soo-yeon was so understanding towards her.

“You know what,” Taeyeon said as she moved her lips to Soo-yeon’s ears.

“I’m the most fortunate person on earth. You’re beautiful and understanding, and you’re my girlfriend.”

Somehow the act of Soo-yeon being so understanding towards her made her want to express herself more.

It was just yesterday where Soo-yeon was dissuading her from her job but here she was, allowing Taeyeon to work even though they were supposed to be on a date.

“You were curious about my job right? Today’s your chance to see what we do,” Taeyeon suddenly said.

She saw it as an opportunity to allow Soo-yeon to understand what goes on behind her work.

Taeyeon was banging on the chance that Soo-yeon would see the true meaning of her work and not have anymore objections in the future.

***

It was late at night and Taeyeon and Soo-yeon were already back in Soo-yeon's room.

They were laying in bed and twined in a tight cuddle.

Soo-yeon fiddled with Taeyeon's fingers as she spoke. "Baby promise me you'll find the little boy."

There was a great change in her attitude since this afternoon. The sole reason for that was because Jonghyun brought both Taeyeon and Soo-yeon to see the boy's parents earlier in the day.

"I think we may just find him," Taeyeon said still deep in thought.

"Why is that?" Soo-yeon asked and lifted her head to look at Taeyeon with great curiosity.

Taeyeon ran her fingers through Soo-yeon's hair lovingly.

“It’s just a gut feeling,” Taeyeon explained.

“It’s just one day and you’re so confident already?” Soo-yeon said as she smiled, the admiration for Taeyeon showed in her eyes.

Taeyeon nodded and kissed Soo-yeon’s forehead.

“Yes. Anyway let’s just let Jonghyun do the legwork for now. I’ll help him soon enough.”

Taeyeon planted another kiss on Soo-yeon’s cheeks.

“You’re not intending to help him out tomorrow?” Soo-yeon questioned. She ran a finger along Taeyeon’s neck and played with a loose lock of Taeyeon’s hair.

“I already did today even though I was not supposed to. Thanks for being so understanding today, I appreciate it,” Taeyeon said as she lifted Soo-yeon’s chin and looked deeply into Soo-yeon’s eyes.

Soo-yeon stopped twirling at Taeyeon’s lock of hair and started to play with Taeyeon’s ear lobes very gently.

“As much as your job can get dangerous, it’s meaningful. This case especially.” Soo-yeon bit at her own lip. “I know how painful it is to be without a parent, what more a child.”

“I know, I’ll find him for them.” Taeyeon leaned forward and gave Soo-yeon a long and gentle kiss on her forehead.

Taeyeon inhaled deeply and her nose was flooded with Soo-yeon’s scent. It was a very sweet scent.

The warm breath from Soo-yeon tickled her neck as she exhaled.

It reminded her of what happened the night before.

The night before was amazing. She felt a warm tingling sensation in her abdomen as she recalled the tender interactions between the both of them.

Taeyeon swallowed hard and attempted to get the imagery out of her head.

She wanted it, but she was shy to initiate it.

Didn’t she say that I had to make it up to her tonight, why isn’t she acting yet...

Soo-yeon shifted her head slightly and looked at Taeyeon. She smiled.

“Why are you smiling?” Taeyeon asked with the hopes that Soo-yeon was planning on finally asking for it.

“What were you thinking about?” Soo-yeon asked. It was almost as if she knew what went through Taeyeon’s head in that moment.

“Who said I was thinking about anything?” Taeyeon said maintaining her ‘innocence’.

“Well I was thinking...” Soo-yeon said and paused. Her eyes never left Taeyeon.

Taeyeon waited eagerly for Soo-yeon to make her request.

“I was thinking that you must be tired after such a long day. We should sleep now.”

Taeyeon was disappointed at how the sentence turned out.

“It’s ok, I’m not tired,” Taeyeon said intentionally, “Are you?”

Soo-yeon nodded before giving Taeyeon a long lingering kiss on the lips.

Taeyeon let out a soft groan as Soo-yeon pulled away.

“I have to go to the bathroom first, before we go to bed,” Soo-yeon said as she got out of bed.

“Ok,” Taeyeon said as she remained in bed.

She let out a loud sigh after Soo-yeon was gone. She frustrated herself at times.

She had been thinking of

the entire night, but she just could not bring herself to take action.

She ruffled her own hair'and buried her face in a pillow as she let out a long groan.

What’s wrong with you Kim Taeyeon. Why can’t you just do it!

“Taeyeon ah what are you doing with your face in the pillow?”

“Oh err nothing,” Taeyeon said quickly.

“Ok then, I’m going to switch off the lights now, Good Night.” Soo-yeon switched off the lights and the room was in total darkness.

Taeyeon heard the click of the door locking and the sound of Soo-yeon shuffling towards the bed.

She felt Soo-yeon’s hands brush lightly against her thighs almost as if it was intentional.

“Oh I’m sorry baby, I can’t see well,” Soo-yeon said as she climbed in bed.

The spot where Soo-yeon’s hand were before tingled.

Taeyeon wanted to pounce on Soo-yeon and devour her instantly. She could feel the flames of desire rising in her.

Taeyeon bit her lips and held it in.

“Good night my dear.”

Taeyeon shut her eyes.

DESTINY CHAPTER 44 [29th April 2010]

Taeyeon had barely shut her eyes when Soo-yeon cuddled close to her.

“Good night baby,” Soo-yeon whispered very softly into Taeyeon’s ears. She then proceeded to kiss Taeyeon’s ears before pulling back and snuggling up to Taeyeon.

Taeyeon slipped her arms around Soo-yeon and ran her hands down the back of Soo-yeon’s top. It was then that she realised that she could run her hands smoothly down Soo-yeon’s back, without any interference.

The only thing that separated Taeyeon from Soo-yeon’s bare back, was her racerback singlet.

It was tempting to rip off Soo-yeon’s top but Taeyeon remained disciplined.

Soo-yeon pressed her body against Taeyeon and Taeyeon almost lost it.

Taeyeon’s heartbeat quickened and she could feel her blood pulsing in her veins as she tried her best to resist the temptation.

It was proving more difficult by the minute since Taeyeon was conscious of every single movement on Soo-yeon’s part.

Everything about Soo-yeon distracted her.

Soo-yeon’s scent, the smooth touch of Soo-yeon’s skin against hers, the rhythmic breeze of air that caressed her neck whenever Soo-yeon exhaled.

Taeyeon took a deep breath and finally mustered her courage to speak. “Baby, are you really very tired?”

“mmhmm...and cuddling with you feels so comfortable...” Soo-yeon said as she adjusted herself, her thighs brushing very gently against Taeyeon’s.

Goodness...I want her so badly.....

How should I....should I ask her? No no no. That’s ridiculous.

“Umm..Baby I’m feeling a little hot...” Taeyeon said as she fidgeted slightly. She was trying to drop a hint, hoping that Soo-yeon would get it.

“Ok.” Instead of getting the hint, Soo-yeon tossed the blanket aside instead.

Dang.

Taeyeon thought to herself.

The strap of Soo-yeon’s top was hanging loosely off her shoulders and the cloth was rumpled at the bottom, exposing the sides of her slender waist.

Taeyeon was on fire and the imagery was not helping.

Taeyeon placed her hand on Soo-yeon’s waist and caressed her gently. She then slipped her hands under Soo-yeon’s top and stroked her back lovingly.

“Baby what are you doing?” Soo-yeon asked as she stared into Taeyeon’s eyes.

“I’m just umm..showering you with love and affection?” Taeyeon said awkwardly as she returned her hands to herself.

“Baby I’m not asking you to stop. It’s just unlike you.” Soo-yeon said as she took Taeyeon’s hands and placed it on her own waist.

Soo-yeon reached for Taeyeon’s lips and gave her a peck.

Before she could move away, Taeyeon parted her lips and invited herself into Soo-yeon’s mouth.

It caught Soo-yeon by surprise at first, but the both of them broke into a passionate kiss.

Soo-yeon broke the kiss first. “Someone sure is on fire.”

Taeyeon moved in for a second kiss but was stopped by Soo-yeon’s finger to her lips.

“Baby what are you trying to do?”

“Kiss you,” Taeyeon replied.

Soo-yeon slid her fingers along Taeyeon’s lips and then gently onto her cheeks before pulling her in for a deep kiss.

“Ok, here’s your kiss. Now, Good night my dear.” Soo-yeon returned her head to thecrook of Taeyeon’s neck and snuggled up to her.

Taeyeon gave a barely audible sigh. She wanted more and she needed it badly now, but it seemed like it wasn’t going to happen.

“Good night,” Taeyeon said feeling disappointed.

Soo-yeon then spoke suddenly. “Baby, can you get me a glass of water please? I’m feeling thirsty.”

“Ok.” Taeyeon got out of bed and headed out of the room. She drank a cup of water herself and then got another glass for Soo-yeon.

She returned to the room and switched on the light before shutting the door behind her.

“You look like kimbap,” Taeyeon said when she set sight on Soo-yeon. The blanket covered Soo-yeon fully, leaving only her head exposed.

Soo-yeon grinned and replied, “It’s cold when you’re not beside me.”

“Anyway can you switch on the table light and switch off the main lights? It’s too glaring.” Soo-yeon requested as her hand appeared from under the blanket to get the glass of water from Taeyeon.

Taeyeon nodded and proceeded to switch on the side light. She turned her back and walked towards the door so that she could switch off the room light.

By the time she did that, the glass of water was already sitting on the side table and Soo-yeon had her eyes closed.

It’s just not my night tonight is it?

Taeyeon thought to herself dejectedly.

She sat in bed and then switched off the side light before getting under the covers with Soo-yeon.

“Baby hug me, I’m cold” Soo-yeon requested.

Taeyeon wrapped her arms around Soo-yeon moodily. It was then that she felt the contact of bare skin against her arm. It aroused her senses again.

She slid her hand down Soo-yeon’s back only to realise that Soo-yeon’s back was completely bare.

She’s not wearing...anything?

Taeyeon took in a long steady stream of air with her lungs. “Baby, stop distracting me with your body. I can’t sleep and I need you.”

Soo-yeon let out a soft giggle. “You finally said it.”

“What?” Taeyeon groaned, “You mean you knew all along?” Taeyeon tugged at the blanket and covered her face.

Soo-yeon let out yet another giggle. She slipped in between Taeyeon and the blanket and lifted herself.

“Yes I did. You can get very obvious at times.”

Soo-yeon was crouched over Taeyeon, the lower half of their body pressed together.

That

, was your punishment for letting work interrupt our day,” Soo-yeon said as she reached for the table light with one hand.

When light flooded the room, Taeyeon had a clear view of what she deemed total perfection.

“And this,” Soo-yeon said as she brought her lips down to Taeyeon’s neck with a gentle kiss, “Is to reward you for being so kind, passionate and focused when you work.”

Soo-yeon disappeared under the blanket.

Taeyeon felt a kiss on her tummy and another on her navel.

The rest of the night was ecstasy.

DESTINY CHAPTER 45 [30th April 2010]

Taeyeon and Soo-yeon were out for lunch. They were enjoying the food when Taeyeon’s phone rang.

Taeyeon glanced at the screen and then back at Soo-yeon. “Do you mind if I pick up the call?”

Taeyeon flashed the phone at Soo-yeon and she saw Jonghyun’s name on it.

“Go ahead.” Soo-yeon said nonchalantly.

“If you say so,” Taeyeon said with a grin.

The both of them spoke for ten minutes before Soo-yeon interrupted. “Your food is turning cold, why don’t you call him back?”

“Hey Jong I gotta— yes, yes. Ok let me ask her.” Taeyeon looked at Soo-yeon and asked her if she’s ok with Jonghyun joining them for lunch.

Soo-yeon nodded giving her the green light. Taeyeon’s face lit up.

“Baby. Thanks for being so understanding,” Taeyeon said after she got off the phone.

“And how are you going to make it up to me?” Soo-yeon said teasingly.

“I’ll......take care of you for the rest of my life?” Taeyeon said with a wide grin.

Soo-yeon smiled and then frowned after a while.

“Why are you frowning?” Taeyeon asked.

“Don’t think I didn’t catch that...I decline the offer.” Soo-yeon said with her arms folded across her chest.

Taeyeon was truly puzzled. She paused for a while before she had her lightbulb moment.

Taeyeon laughed. “I shall take care of you for the rest of

your

life. How does that sound now?”

A smile appeared on Soo-yeon’s face, showing Taeyeon that she had said it right.

“Sounds better now,” Soo-yeon said as she continued with her food.

It wasn’t long before Jonghyun arrived. Taeyeon shifted beside Soo-yeon and Jonghyun sat opposite them.

The moment he sat down, the both of them started talking about the case.

“Jonghyun don’t you want to order something first?” Soo-yeon suggested.

“Oh yes I shall,” Jonghyun said as he picked up the menu. It took him one minute to order and decide all together.

“So, I followed your instructions and I found out that the husband was having an affair with someone.” Jonghyun said excitedly immediately after the waiter walked away.

"Good job Jong, you have improved," Taeyeon encouraged.

"Thanks to your mentoring," Jonghyun said shyly. It was clear that he was happy to be praised by his senior at work.

"Ok the next thing is to find the woman," Taeyeon said as she tapped her fingers on the table, "I'm quite sure she has got the child."

"Should we ask the husband directly about the matter?" Jonghyun consulted Taeyeon.

Taeyeon bit on her lip and thought hard.

Jonghyun sat there waiting for further instructions. He knew that when Taeyeon was in such deep thought, it was best not to disrupt her thoughts.

A few seconds later she responded, "No. I suggest you follow him and see if he gets in contact with the other woman."

"Yes boss," Jonghyun said with a salute, "Can you explain the rationale to me please?"

Taeyeon started her explanation. "IF the woman he's having an affair with has kidnapped the boy, the husband may be aware of it. IF he is aware and he isn't doing anything to get the boy back, it's obvious that he has some sort of underlying reason for that. If you do a check, you should find out that they're rich because of the wife's family. Money — always a driving force for some."

"I see. So you're saying he may be afraid to get the affair exposed...and he is protecting himself?" Jonghyun said with anger in his eyes.

"Yes. Now Stop getting so emotionally caught up in all this, it's ok to feel but you have to learn how to compartmentalize your feelings. Don't let it show when you meet him." Taeyeon advised her junior.

"He's such a jerk!" Soo-yeon exclaimed. Her random exclamation made both their heads turn.

"Cool it, this is just a hypothesis. It isn't proven yet." Taeyeon explained. She reached for Soo-yeon's hands under the table and squeezed it gently.

"The poor boy, you have to find him." Soo-yeon turned to Taeyeon and Jonghyun as she said that.

"We will," Jonghyun said with determination.

"Anyway i'll join you tonight for the stakeout, I'll call you when i'm done later in the evening." Taeyeon told Jonghyun.

"Can I join the both of you tonight?" Soo-yeon requested.

"I'm cool," Jonghyun replied excitedly, "You got to ask her." Jonghyun pointed at Taeyeon and shrugged.

Taeyeon wanted to spend more time with Soo-yeon but she knew that Soo-yeon would be a distraction at work.

"I don't know...it's boring...and we wouldn't know what might happen so..." Taeyeon trailed off not knowing how to reject Soo-yeon without getting her upset.

"I don't mind boring," Soo-yeon said immediately.

"Yeah and I don't think anything will happen, one more person would be fun," Jonghyun added on.

Taeyeon shot Jonghyun a look and he lowered his head and kept quiet immediately. Taeyeon had a certain air of authority around her and she was definitely capably of instilling fear in her junior.

"Isn't your dad coming back? You should spend time with him since he is rarely home." Taeyeon said quickly. She knew that there was a chance that Soo-yeon might actually change her mind because of that.

"He won't miss me for the night, I'm joining you," Soo-yeon said adamantly.

Taeyeon sighed. "Fine. Just make sure that you listen to every single thing I say tonight."

"Awesome," Soo-yeon said with a satisfied smile.

"Coooool!" Jonghyun said as he did a fist pump.

"Kim Jonghyun, finish your lunch and get your ass back to work," Taeyeon said sternly. She was mad that he encouraged Soo-yeon.

"Oops." Jonghyun got back to his food that was served a while ago.

"Stop bullying him, I'm sure he's working hard," Soo-yeon said to Taeyeon and winked at Jonghyun.

Taeyeon sighed and sipped on her drink. Her girlfriend and her colleague were getting along too well.

***

Taeyeon and Soo-yeon had just rode to where Jonghyun parked the Van. Taeyeon proceeded to park her scooter somewhere inconspicuous.

She ushered Soo-yeon into the back of the van where Jonghyun was.

The van was a dull blue and it was parked on the opposite side of the road, two blocks down from where the boy's parents resided.

"Don't expect too much action, it really is going to be a boring night," Taeyeon told Soo-yeon.

"It's ok," Soo-yeon said with a sweet smile.

"Alright, make yourself at home then. Don't say I didn't warn you," Taeyeon gave a cheeky smile.

Soo-yeon stuck her tongue out at Taeyeon and settled into a seat just behi.d the passenger seat..

"So what exactly are we waiting for?" Soo-yeon questioned. She was very curious.

Taeyeon and Jonghyun both laughed at the same time. Taeyeon then said, "We don't know yet, but we're waiting for something."

Jonghyun nodded and then smiled. "Welcome to our world."

"Wow, there's so much stuff in the van." Soo-yeon said as she took a look around the interior.

The windows were tinted and there were quite a few jackets, caps, sunglasses and what not strewn in the backseat.

"Ok Jong, you should be tired. Take a nap, I'll keep watch." Taeyeon said as she motioned to him to sleep.

"Great! Thank you!" Jonghyun replied. He crawled into the second row from the back and snuggled into the seat.

Taeyeon peered out of the car and stared at the only exit of the apartment building.

"So are you going to just sit here and stare at the place all night?" Soo-yeon asked as she caressed Taeyeon's thighs.

"Yup," Taeyeon nodded without shifting her focus. She placed a hand on Soo-yeon's hands and held it gently.

"I sure hope you get lucky tonight so I'll get to see some action." Soo-yeon started playing with Taeyeon's fingers.

"If only," Taeyeon sighed, "It's usually not the case."

<span>After about two hours of waiting, Soo-yeon had already fallen asleep on Taeyeon's shoulders.

Taeyeon glanced at her for a quick few seconds and kissed her forehead.

It was lovely to have Soo-yeon beside her. It made every single moment of waiting much more enjoyable.

In fact, Taeyeon wished that the night would never end.
