Part 49 The First Step... (Longest update)

Khushi was thinking about Shyam's action of burning Anjali's Saree and trying hard to connect the dots. Somewhat, she succeeded too. If her guess was right, she should not be quiet anymore. Shyam might do anything to hurt Arnav. However, she had to alert Arnav. Before that, she had to talk to Aman. It was necessary for Aman to know what Shyam did. Taking her mobile, she called Aman. His phone was engaged. She sighed. Of course, he was Aman after all... No wonder, if his phone was engaged.

(Even though if we blocked a number we can still call the number but they couldn't. They won't receive notifications too)

Khushi thought Aman would call her, seeing her missed call. But, he was never going to get notifications from Khushi's number because we knew Arnav blocked his number. Khushi sat on the bed wearily.

Suddenly, her heartbeat raised when she remembered Arnav's penetrating gaze and a killer smirk. She pressed her heart closing her eyes. She could not understand what was there in his mind. She was sure that he was trying to come close to her but with what intention he was doing that? She knew A to Z about mentally ill Arnav but understanding ASR was next to impossible. She didn't know whether he liked her or he was trying to TOUCH her only for ENTERTAINMENT because it's all very casual to RICH men. She was sure about one thing he didn't hate her...! That thought gave solace to her mind. She got home that Arnav would accept her as his wife if he got to know the truth. She smiled with an adorable blush.

.......

Arnav was also thinking about Khushi and also about her suddenly changed her weird behavior. Something was dreadfully wrong. Maybe, the reason for her weird behavior was Shyam. If it was so, he should not be calm anymore. Keeping an enemy at his own house was dangerous like hell. He might do anything... anytime. But what did Shyam try to do? He didn't do anything in AR in his absence. He could have stepped into AR and could have gotten its full control in his hands but he didn't do that. Then what the hell he wants? Arnav knew Shyam didn't like Khushi. Khushi would have also known that. Was that why she nervous?

He should not underestimate Shyam. He was a lawyer. He knew each and every loophole of LAW. He didn't know what Shyam had done against him so far. Only a lawyer could think like a lawyer. So, he wanted to discuss it with his lawyer Mr. Roy about it as soon as possible. Before that, he has to see Shyam's reaction to something.

Arnav headed to Anjali's room. He slowed down his steps and walked sharpening his ears expecting Shyam to talk something with Anjali but they talked nothing. Arnav entered their room, observing Shyam's expression. Shyam's facial expression changed for two seconds and he smiled at Arnav composing himself.

"Are you alright, Di?" Arnav asked, sitting next to Anjali, circling her shoulders.

Anjali nodded yes sadly.

"You can say that with a smile," he said that with a smile.

Anjali pouted.

"So, you are not yet out of it..."

Anjali made a face.

"Ok... so, you have decided to make me starve today it seems"

"Why Chotte?" she asked shockingly.

"I'm hungry... how could I eat anything if you are sad?"

"Go and eat something, Chotte, please..."

"No way... I won't eat until you eat. Come and eat something"

"Chotte..."

"Ok... keep crying. I'm going..."

Arnav stood up. Anjali clutched his hand. That made Arnav smile.

"Wait..."

Arnav looked at her turning his head.

"I will eat"

"Come"

Arnav brought Anjali to the dining.

"Hari Prakash..."

"Jee, Arnav Baba?"

"Call everyone to have lunch" he intentionally called everyone.

"Jee"

HP called everyone and they gathered at dining... including Khushi.

"Are you alright, Di?" Khushi asked.

Anjali nodded yes.

"Di, your saree is so good," Lavanya said.

"It's my selection," Shyam said proudly.

"Is this the saree you brought yesterday?" Lavanya asked.

"Yeah... this is the saree Shyamji brought me for today's Pooja"

That changed Khushi's facial expression and Arnav noticed it.

"You might have draped this saree instead of the first one. Then that fire accident would not have taken place" Shyam said feeling sad.

Khushi was drawing paten on her plate silently.

"Bhai, you said you will take Khushi to AR today?" Lavanya asked.

"Of course, I said... but the happenings of RM made everyone sad. Then how could I go to AR today? I canceled the program..." Arnav said.

"Then, go tomorrow"

"Ok... what say Khushi?"

"Hannn...?"

"Shall we go to AR tomorrow?" Arnav asked.

"Jee..."

Arnav waited until everyone finished eating because if he START what he wanted, they might leave the lunch half-finished. So, he waited, and then slowly started.

"Di, I wanted to tell you something..."

"What, Chotte?"

"We are so lucky to have jeejaji with us"

Shyam stopped eating and looked at Arnav awestruck and Anjali looked at Shyam with pride whereas Khushi gulped down hard.

"Of course, Bhai... you have no idea how much Jeejaji stand for us when you were a me..."

Khushi pressed her thigh before she uttered A MENTALLY ILL PATIANT'.

"I mean, in the coma stage..." Lavanya managed.

Arnav smiled at Shyam.

"Han Chotte, if Damadji was not there in RM, we would have struggled like hell," Nani said.

*He is the only reason for your every struggle, Naniji* Khushi thought in her mind.

"By the way Chotte, why did you say we are lucky to have him?" Anjali asked curiously.

"Yeah... Jeejaji wants me to settle down in my life" Arnav said noticing Shyam who was horrified.

All of them looked at Shyam frowning.

"He is even ready to search for a RICH ( he stressed) bride for me"

Arnav saw everyone's eyes widening in shock.

"He doesn't want me to get compromised in getting married to a RICH girl..."

Anjali glared at Shyam gritting her teeth.

"Because he wants the bride should be EQUAL to my capability..."

All the eyes were on only Khushi who was looking at her plate. They could feel her anxiety. Of course, Arnav also...

"Did you talk to Chotte about his wedding?" Anjali asked Shyam controlling her wrath.

"I just..."

Cutting him,

"So what Di, doesn't he have the responsibility to make me settle down?" Arnav asked.

Anjali closed her eyes with annoyance. She left the place furiously and Shyam followed her nervously.

"What happened to Di? I thought she would appreciate him." He said looking at Anjali and Shyam.

Lavanya and Nani was fed up. Khushi left the place all distraught.

"What happened to Khushi?" Arnav asked plainly.

Lavanya looked at Nani helplessly who headed to her room. Lavanya also followed Nani whereas Arnav followed HIS WIFE to see what she would do.

In the meanwhile,

Shyam followed Anjali to their room all stressed.

"Rani Sahiba..." he tried to clutch her hand. Anjali shrugged his hand off.

"Enough Shyamji... This is the limit... How dare you talk to Chotte about finding a rich girl?"

"I just tried to know his interest in marriage"

"Is this how would you try? Don't tell yourself a lawyer... Shame on you, Shyamji" she sneered.

"Rani Sahiba, don't I have rights in this family?"

"Right my foot... If you use your right this way, it's better you don't have any rights in this family" she spat fire at him.

"Ok... I don't want any rights... Let's go to OUR house then"

"Have you gone mad? You will leave RM or else, you will do rubbish? Does it make sense?"

"I just want to know what's in Arnav's mind..."

"Why didn't you say anything to me about it? How could you do that without my consent? Who will trust you if you do such cheap things?"

"Cheap?"

"Then what? Didn't you see Khushi's face? I just can't face Khushi. She is here because of me... But you are making her life horrible... I didn't expect this from you Shyamji... I never expected this from you..."

"Rani Sahiba please don't get tensed. I will talk to Sale Sahib..."

Anjali joined her hands with annoyance.

"Enough... Just stop it... I know what to do"

"What are you going to do?"

"I'm going to tell Chotte the truth..."

Shyam was horrified.

"Rani Sahiba, please don't make a decision in haste. It may give the worst output. Don't play with Khushi's life"

"it's not me but you..."

"Please don't blame me, Rani Sahiba... You are treating me like, I intentionally spoilt Khushi's life"

"Will you prove NO?"

"What do you want me to do? Tell me... I will surely do it but don't think of telling the truth to Arnav"

"Why?" she pushed him wrathfully.

"Don't you understand Arnav's mind? He too wants a RICH girl as his wife. Didn't you sense it from his tone? Then what will you do if he says on your face that he doesn't like Khushi?"

Anjali got stuck for a while and she composed herself.

"I know how to talk to him"

"Rani Sahiba..."

Anjali stopped him, showing her palm.

............

On the other side, Khushi, who came to her room was also thinking the same. She was happy as Arnav tried to get close to her. But now, she doubted his intention because getting close to MANY girls was very normal in a RICH MAN's life. It seemed, he wanted to marry a RICH girl. She took her Mangal Sutra out, which she had been pinning inside her blouse. She cried looking at her mangal sutra. Closing her eyes, she let her tears out, biting her lip. In Shyam's tension, she didn't even close the door. Arnav who followed her tightened his jaws seeing her Mangal sutra as well as her tears. He walked inside the room pushing the door. Khushi stood up shockingly by Arnav's sudden entry. She was horrified as Arnav's eyes were on her Mangal Sutra.

"Are you married?" Arnav asked, showing disbelief and also disappointment on his face.

Khushi cursed herself as she didn't know whether she could tell him the truth or not. Just a few minutes ago, she heard him happily talking about getting married to a RICH girl. What will he do if he got to know his wife was not a rich girl but belonged to a middle class? She clutched her saree pallu with teary eyes.

"Why did you hide it?"

"Ev...every...one knows..." she stammered.

Khushi saw dissatisfaction on his face because he expected her to say, YES, I MARRIED TO YOU. As it didn't happen, he became dissatisfied. He knew what made her hesitant. Yet, his heart wanted her to tell him the truth... he wanted her to take her rights. But nope... she didn't. It seemed he should search for some other way to get the truth from her. Arnav started taking back steps, showing no expression on his face. He left the place hurriedly as he could not see her tears.

To be continued...
