11 Confession not needed
Part 11: Confession not needed
"Did you fight with anyone?" Khushi asked.
He nodded no slowly. How could he tell her that he was fighting within? He didn't know why he had negative results with Dhruv addressing her as his girl, why he felt like kicking him hard, or what was happening with him.
Khushi rushed to her room, pulling him with her.
"Where are you taking me?"
"Shut up and come", she told him to her room.
She made him sit on the couch and brought the first-aid kit.
"Khushi, it's just a scratch..."
"I said shut up..." She glared at him.
He rolled his eyes.
She cleaned the wound with spirit and applied an ointment. She was supposed to put a band-aid on it, but he pulled his hand.
"It's enough..."
She pinched his bicep, making him hiss.
"Not one more word. I don't know what I will do..." She chided and bandaged his hand.
He smiled at her worried face. It's a blessing to have someone to feel our pain. He supposed. When she looked at him, he looked at his hand.
"Did you eat breakfast?" She asked.
"What will you do if I don't? Will you feed me?" he teased.
"Do you want me to feed you?"
Arnav stood up.
"Let's go..."
She clutched the bottom of his shirt. Arnav looked at her.
"You haven't answered me yet."
"What?"
"Have you had breakfast?"
"Mmm..."
"Ok, then... Let me have,"
"Haven't you eaten yet?"
"Give me five minutes..."
She walked out, holding his hand. Arnav followed her. She brought him to the dining table and pressed his shoulders to make him sit.
"I said I already had breakfast"
"No problem... Just sit with me."
Arnav sighed and sat.
Ramu Kaka served her rotti with alloo and mutter.
"Ramu kaka cooks well, you know", Khushi said.
Ramu left smiling. Taking a piece of rotti, she stuffed alloo into it and mumbled.
"Taste it..." She forwarded it to Arnav's mouth, making him dumbfounded.
He looked at her, parting his lips. In no time, she stuffed it in his mouth.
"It's so tasty. I like it very much." She ate relishing, as if she had done nothing.
Arnav ate it without a choice, and she was not wrong. It was delicious.
"How is it? Great, right?"
He nodded.
"Didn't I say?" She continued eating.
Arnav gazed at her. He didn't know what made her move with him so freely. Getting close to a guy so soon was not easy for any girl. He could not conclude that she was free with him because she was from Singapore.
"What does this mean?" He asked, and could not stop himself.
"What?" She asked, chewing the rotti.
"You fed me..."
"Han..."
"Could you feed all your friends?"
She nodded no.
"Then, why did you feed me?"
"It's because you are not my friend," she said, smiling.
"Means?"
"You are more than a friend..."
"Means?"
"You are not my friend..."
Arnav rolled his eyes.
"Ok... Straight to the point... I like being with you..."
"What's this relationship's name?"
"Name it whatever..."
"People will name it LOVE," he said with a deep gaze.
"Do you have a problem if they name it so?"
"Don't you have?"
"I don't... If we start worrying about people's assumptions, we could not even talk to anybody..."
"So, according to you, this is friendship..."
"No way..."
Arnav sighed.
"Leave my point. What about you? What do you think of this relationship?"
He shrugged his shoulders.
"Well... Let it be. I like it..."
She stood up and walked to the wash basin to wash her hands. She went to her room and came with her bag.
"Shall we go?"
Arnav nodded and walked out. She took his bike key and threw it to him. Catching it, he started the bike. Khushi sat behind him.
Arnav questioned himself. What would he name their relationship? He agreed to pick her up daily. He waited for her until she got ready. He felt bliss when she fed him food, even though he was dumbfounded. Why did he do something that was not his cup of tea? His sight fell on his hand, where there was a bandage. Why did he wound himself when he thought about Dhruv? He looked at Khushi through the rearview mirror. His lips curved into a smile. He understood one thing: he liked her. But why did she like him? Why was she closer to him? He wanted to see how long this relationship would last. He thought.
They reached the college. Dhruv gripped his phone as he saw them coming together on a bike.
"Hey, careful... It's an iPhone..." Dhruv's friend Dev said.
In no time, Dhruv threw it on the floor wrathfully, and it broke.
"Have you gone mad? Why are you behaving like this?"
"How could I be casual after seeing him winning me? Already, my father and Dadi are thinking I'm useless. And now, he is snatching my girl..."
"He has not won yet. You still have a chance."
"It seems she likes him"
"It doesn't matter. Her likes can change anytime."
Dhruv closed his eyes and thought. His friends didn't disturb him and waited. Dhruv opened his eyes with determination.
"I will attack her and my fathers..."
"Good idea... Sometimes, elders help us with their knowledge," Dev chuckled.
"I will take care of them..." Dhruv said.
They went to their class as the bell rang. Dhruv was supposed to go to the canteen for the short break, but he stopped seeing Khushi entering their class. He was annoyed because he knew she was there for Arnav and would not give heed to him.
As he expected, Khushi went to Arnav and extended a Singapore pencil to Arnav. He looked at her with a mild smile. She was with him this morning, but she didn't give it to him then. She was intentionally doing that, he knew.
"I forgot to give this to you this morning."
"What's this?"
"Pencil... didn't I get it from you yesterday?"
"But, this is not mine..."
"It's mine now. So, take mine..." She inserted it in his pocket and left.
Dhruv's friends looked at him, who fumed.
Dhruv tried his best to get Khushi by his side, but Khushi didn't give heed to him or her father. Dhruv lost his patience as Arnav and Khushi got closer and closer to each other.
Two years later
Arnav was sitting on the bed in Khushi's room. She was leaning on his shoulder. Arnav was silently sitting.
"Tomorrow is my mother's death anniversary." She said sadly.
Arnav touched her hand.
"I know you miss her..."
"A lot..."
"Don't feel bad. I know mother can't be replaced. Yet, I'm saying this, I'm here for you."
"I know... You are here for me, that's what makes me happier."
"What will you do tomorrow?"
"Pooja..."
"Our exams are starting next week. This is our final year. Don't get diverted and study well."
"Mmm..."
"Will you come here tomorrow?" Khushi asked.
"Of course, I will..."
"How are your new company arrangements?"
"Yeah, it's going on... I'm planning to inaugurate it after our exams."
"That's great."
"Say that smilingly"
She smiled. Arnav kissed her forehead.
"I'm leaving..."
"Don't go..."
"Ok, you sleep. I will go after you sleep"
She lay on his lap, holding his hand. Arnav caressed her hair lovingly.
This was how their life was going. They loved each other but didn't confess it verbally. They didn't need it because they knew they loved each other. They didn't do that intentionally. They didn't feel to confess it verbally because their actions spoke volumes.
To be continued...
