20 Demand
Part 20 Demand
The next morning
Khushi opened the door as someone knocked on it. She saw Arnav standing, looking at her penetratingly. Before she could compose herself, he entered the room and closed the door.
"What are you doing?" she shouted.
"Why did you leave India?" He asked without answering her.
"Why should I answer you?" She moved back.
He pulled her towards him.
"You have to..." he said, gritting his teeth.
"Why should I?" She tried to get her hand from his clutch, but it was so firm.
"Because I am asking..."
"Who are you to me?"
Arnav's anger crossed its limit.
"Don't you know who I am to you?"
"I don't know," she said, looking somewhere.
"Now I understood... What you had in your heart for me is not true. That's why you threw me like trash and left India..."
"You have no right to talk about me. You are talking as if what you had in your heart for me is true... in fact, you had nothing in your heart for me... You just pretended..." She too shouted.
He gripped her hand tight.
"Pretend? How dare you talk like that?"
"Why shouldn't I tell the truth?"
"What truth are you talking about?"
"The truth that broke me into pieces..."
"Whaaaat?" He frowned.
"Where is Anu? Why haven't you married her yet?"
Arnav's grip on her hand loosened. He looked at her in shock.
"What are you waiting for?" She asked angrily, yet choking.
"What the hell are you talking about, Khushi? Don't talk rubbish about my friendship with Anu."
"I didn't talk about anything I didn't witness..."
"Witness? What did you witness?"
"Didn't you hug her in the open park?"
"In the park?" He asked thoughtfully.
"Yes, I saw you hugging her..."
"Ok, I hugged her. So what? Just because I hugged her, how could you think of us wrongly? Didn't you feel like asking me about it and getting cleared?"
"Why should I when I saw that in my eyes? You avoided me for her. You refused to tell me the reason for meeting her. You ran behind her whenever she called you. Then why are you talking about it?"
"It's because I thought you were an understanding girl. I thought you wouldn't make any decision without confronting me..."
"I confronted... But you didn't give me heed..."
Arnav rolled his eyes.
"My condition was like that then... By the way, how do you know I would meet Anu in the park?"
Khushi was stuck.
"I know you would not have come there in your own."
"So what if someone led me there?"
Arnav stiffened himself.
"Was that Dhruv?" Arnav asked.
"Yes. He is the one who brought me to the park."
"So, you came to the conclusion that I'm in love with Anu..."
"What else would I do?"
"You should have asked me... Just like your father did."
Khushi looked at him, perplexed.
"My father?"
"Yes... I came to your house with Anu straight from the park, but you were not there. I waited there for more than an hour. You hadn't attended my call. As I had an exam the next day, I left your house. I came to you the next morning before going to the exam. Your father was angry with me and shouted at me. I didn't know what made him behave like that. I told him that I came to meet you, refusing to go with my friend Anu, who would meet her in-laws that day."
Khushi looked at him, surprised. In-laws?
"This is how your father also surprised. He also thought Anu was my girlfriend. After I cleared his doubt, he promised me that I would be his son-in-law..."
Khushi was perplexed. She thought something and looked at him doubtfully.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Because you are lying."
"Why should I lie?"
"If my father had promised you, why did he never tell me about it when he called me?"
"Because he is not your father who talked to you, but someone who talks to you in your father's voice using a device, tuning his voice."
"I don't know, you are so brilliant at building stories."
Arnav rolled his eyes, annoyingly.
"I don't lie..."
"Okay, who is that person?"
"Dhruv..." Arnav said without hesitation.
"I know you and Dhruv don't like each other. He might have brought me to the park and let me know the truth..."
Cutting her off,
"It's not the truth. What you understood is completely rubbish..."
"How do you know all of this? Where is my father? How do you know someone talked to me in his voice?"
Arnav was stuck. Not that he didn't want to tell her about her father. What if she told someone about it? Dhruv would become aggressive if he found out Shashi was not at his place. He would try to know about Shashi's whereabouts. It seemed Khushi did not completely trust his words. So, telling her the truth about Shashi would not be a wise decision. If Dhruv found out Shashi's whereabouts, it would lead him into trouble. Until Shashi recovered, no one should know about his whereabouts.
"As of now, I can't tell you that..."
Khushi looked at him sarcastically.
"I know you won't tell me. If your words are true, why don't you tell me everything clearly?"
"It's because you don't trust me... until you trust me, I can't tell you anything clearly because even though I tell you, you will not get cleared because your mind is clouded with suspiciousness."
"Of course, my mind is clouded with suspiciousness... because of you. You made me suspect you. Until someone entered between us, our relationship was beautiful. You ruined everything..." She shouted.
Arnav looked at her painfully.
"You will soon regret whatever you are talking about now." He said.
"If you are so concerned about me, why don't you tell the truth?"
"It's because you are not ready to trust me and have already fixed your mind on lies."
"Stop finding excuses to hide your mistakes. I never met a cheater like you. You are a cheat... You are the cheapest guy I have ever met. I wish I had not met you. I hate you, Arnav... I hate you..." Her eyes teared up.
Arnav became furious. He pulled her towards him.
"Stop cheating yourself, Khushi. You can't hate me. The tears in your eyes are the witness..."
Khushi wiped her tears.
"I cried for myself, not for you..."
"Don't you cry for me?"
"No...neither I cry for you, nor do I feel for you,"
"Don't you love me?"
"Who will love a cheater like you?"
"So, you don't love me..."
She looked somewhere, not answering. She was shocked as he circled her waist. She looked at him, stunned. She was bewildered when he tucked her hair lovingly. He held her cheek and leaned towards her lips with a killer smile. She was shocked by his action and tried to push him, but it was next to impossible as Arnav was fixed. There was no backing off idea in his mind. He pressed his lips on hers and kissed her. Khushi's condition could not be described in a few words. Her efforts were overshadowed by Arnav's strength. After a few seconds, she stopped, struggling. She stood, losing herself. Arnav broke the kiss and looked at her, who was closing her eyes. He wiped her lips with his thumb. She opened her eyes, jerking.
"Don't you love me? He asked huskily.
"How dare you...!" She raised her hand to hit him.
He held her hand and kissed it too.
"I dared... because I know you would accept it..."
"You forcefully kissed me..."
"Could I do anything forcefully?" He smiled.
"I will kill you..."
"You won't... I know..."
"I warn you..."
Cutting her off,
"Get ready to marry me..."
"Whaaaat?"
"You have to marry me..."
"I won't..."
"You will..."
Khushi was supposed to say something, but stopped hearing him,
"You have to marry me... if you want to know about your father..."
Khushi looked at him shockingly.
"I don't care if you trust me or not... I want you to marry me. And I know you will do that for your father. Think wisely..." Arnav walked out, leaving a shocked Khushi.
To be continued...
