Part 13 Father

Khushi stood with unimaginable shock, looking at Arnav and his father, who shared a tight hug. What did Arnav call him? PAPA? Was he Arnav's father? Khushi gulped hard. What would she do now? What if he decided to REJECT such a bahu who gave him hot answers?

She bit her nail nervously.

"Khushi, you buried your own grave, it seems... You should not have overreacted...what are you going to do now?" She murmured.

Arvind broke the hug and looked at Khushi.

"I'm... sorryyy uncle... I didn't know you were his father. I would not have argued with you if I had known. I'm just here to wish him on his birthday. Otherwise, I would not come here, and he would not have let me in. That's why I made a duplicate key. I'm sorry... I'm sorry..."

She took her bag while apologising and rushed out.

"Wait... don't run..."

She stopped and looked at him.

"I'm sorry, uncle. Please erase everything that happened between us," she said, joining her hands and running.

Arvind smiled.

"Do you know her?" Arnav asked.

"A few minutes ago, I came here and asked about you"

"About me?"

"Yeah... what would I do if I saw a young one in your house? And you were not here. A few questions raised in my mind, seeing the arrangements she had made for you. At first, I thought your students were arranging your birthday in celebration of your acceptance, but that's not the case. I doubt she loved you"

"Papa, she is a crazy girl... forget her"

"Forget her? How could I forget her? I can't forget her till my last breath"

"Did he say anything that hurt you?" Arnav asked nervously.

"No... she made me feel proud"

Arnav looked at him, frowning. If she made him feel proud, why did she run like she had made the biggest mistake?

"You know what makes a father proud? Hearing others say that their son is good brings pride to his parents. Today I got the chance that made me feel proud"

Did Khushi tell his father about him proudly?

"What did she say?"

"I intentionally said you are not a nice guy... that's it. She became furious and lashed me over." He smiled.

Arnav was stunned.

"Did she fight with you?"

"Yeah... Didn't you see how she ran?" He laughed.

"I saved her once..."

Cutting him off,

"She said..."

Arnav was stuck. He didn't know what she told his father.

"Papa... I..."

"You don't have to be embarrassed. This is a matter to take pride in. It's not easy to gain a girl's trust. Do you know what she said? She asked me to send my daughter to you if I have no one to take care of her..."

"Whaaat?" he frowned.

"Yeah, she said my daughter would be the same as I left her to you, no matter how many days she would be with you..."

Arnav smiled, looking down.

"It's not easy to get the name, my son. You made it..."

"She is crazy..."

"About what?"

Arnav was stuck.

"Is she crazy about you?"

Arnav was silent. it was not a big deal to understand Khushi. Anyone could understand her love for him after seeing the arrangements she made for his birthday.

"She loves you..." He said confidently.

Varanv blinked his eyes slowly.

"More than that, she respects you."

That made Arnav surprised.

"See, how beautifully she decorated this room? Everything is for you... to surprise you... to make you happy...! By the way, you are looking smoking hot in this outfit... as she said."

Arnav was stunned. It was clear that his father heard their talks. He should have done that to know about their relationship.

"She won't listen to me if I deny. She will be adamant. That was why I did what she said"

He did what she said, just because she would remain adamant? Arvind simply smiled. he knew Arnav was lying. He could have thrown her out of his house if he didn't like her, if he didn't want to wear her coat. Didn't he know his son? Yet, he kept silent, not saying anything. Arnav might try to prove him right if Arvind says anything. It might hurt Khushi. He didn't want it to happen. So, he stayed calm.

"She said you saved her from some goons..."

"It happened two months ago in Nainital. At that time, I didn't know she would join my college. I don't know how she ended up here because I left her without a note."

Arvind was upset. He knew Arnav. Khushi was his student. That was what made him stay rigid towards Khushi.

"That's not a big deal. You guys met even before she joined your college. Right?"

"Mmm... when did you come? Where were you? Don't you feel like meeting me?"

"I felt... and here to meet you, on your birthday"

"Stay with me, Papa, please"

"Actually, I started my holy trip in Uttarakhand. Going to visit Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kedarnath and Badrinath..." he paused for a while and said,

"looking for a remedy for the sin I have committed..."

"What you did is not a sin..."

"Might be for you... But from the point of view of the world, and also from the spiritual point of view, what I did was a sin. KILLING someone is undoubtedly a sin..."

Arvind sensed Arnav getting furious. So, he changed the topic.

"By the way, how are Aman and Lavanya? Are they safe?"

Arnav nodded.

"They are going abroad. Aman got a job there"

"Are their problem solved?"

Arnav nodded no.

"No... I don't think it will get solved. That's why they are going abroad"

"I don't know what to say. Why don't people understand how beautiful this life is? Why do they have a grudge for one another, rather than sharing love with others?" Arvind sighed.

Arnav was silent.

"Are they still in Delhi?"

"Mmm..."

"Did they come to Dehradun?"

"No... Aman didn't want me to get into trouble. I hope he will come here before leaving India"

"He will... he won't leave India without meeting you"

"Mmm... get fresh, Papa. I will prepare you tea," Arnav said, removing the coat.

"I don't want tea... let's have the cake" Taking a piece of cake, he fed it to Arnav. He ate it and fed it to Arvind.

"Did you feed the cake to the girl?"

Arnav was stuck.

"Poor girl, how sweetly she brought all this but left without tasting it", he said sadly.

Arvind checked the dish on the table.

"Wow... it seems she had an extended plan of celebrating your birthday. I collapsed it"

"Papa, don't think much about her..."

"It's too hard to find someone for ourselves who stands for us... she is the one"

"Mmm... will stay with me for a week at least?"

"Week? No way... I will leave tomorrow"

"Tomorrow itself? Why Papa?"

"You know why..."

"You can wipe your sin after a week too..."

"It's ok... I met you and wished you on your birthday. It's enough."

Arnav sighed. He knew his father would not change his mind.

They had dinner together.

"She cooks well", Arvind said, eating the food Khushi brought.

Arnav also liked it.

"Does she cook?"

Arnav shook his head from left to right.

"Means?"

"I don't know"

Arvind looked at him meaningfully. After eating, he stood up and said,

"I like the girl very much..." and went to wash his hands, making Arnav stuck.

To be continued...
