Part 14 Meeting

"I like the girl very much..." and went to wash his hands, leaving Arnav stuck.

Arnav also followed him to wash his hands.

"Actually, Papa..."

Arvind showed his palm and said,

"I just said what I feel..."

Arnav silently washed his hands.

"By the way, when will you go to college tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow? It's Sunday tomorrow"

"Oh... is it Sunday?"

"Mm..."

"Ok, then, I will stay here and will leave Monday"

Arnav smiled brightly.

"Is there any temple in Dehradun?"

"Tapkeshwar Mahadev Mandir"

"Ok, I will visit it tomorrow"

"I thought you would be staying at home with me"

"Of course, I will stay with you after coming from the temple"

Arnav sighed.

"What's the girl's name?"

Arnav was stuck for a few seconds and said,

"Khushi..."

"Is she in your class?"

"She is an MA in First English Literature"

"Oh..."

"Papa, what you are thinking is not true"

"Is it?"

"Yes..."

"I think you don't love her... isn't it true?" he smirked.

Arnav was again stuck.

"Papaaaa..."

"Relax... don't I know you?"

He nodded.

As Arvind said, he visited Tapkeshwar Mahadev Mandir the next day. To his surprise, Arnav also accompanied him. He didn't want to miss the chance to be with his father. Arvind spoke about Khushi whenever he got a chance, and Arnav answered him with a rigid expression.

Monday

Arvind was ready to leave.

"I will drop you at the bus terminus", Arnav said.

"No, I saw a small temple in this area. I will visit it and then leave"

Arnav nodded and hugged his father.

"God bless you..."

"Why won't he bless me if you are continuously nagging him for me?"

Arvind chuckled.

"Take care..."

Arnav nodded.

"May I tell you something?"

Arnav looked at him sharply.

"Some decisions should be taken at the right time. Otherwise, we will lose something precious..."

Arnav knew what he was hinting at.

"You are a brilliant guy. You have secured your life without even your parents' guidance. No one needs to tell you what to do. Yet, I'm telling you because I'm your father. I want you to be happy"

Arnav was silent.

"You are getting late. Go..."

"Bye, Papa"

"Bye..."

Arnav headed to the college. He saw Khushi waiting for him, biting her nail. She looked a little pale. It seemed she didn't even sleep well in the last two nights. Seeing his car, she rushed towards him. Arnav looked at him plainly.

"Did your father say anything about me? Was he angry?"

"Like hell..."

Khushi bit her nail again.

"That was how you would talk to an elder? So what if you didn't know he was my father? How could you lash him over?"

"Lash him over? Did he say so?" She was nervous.

"Then, how do I know?"

"He taunted you. That was why I became furious. How would I have done that if I had known he was your father?"

"Will you fight with anyone who talks badly about me?"

"Then what do you want me to do? Should I leave them?"

"It's your wish, but no parents would like a wildcat like you"

"Wildcat? Did he name me that?" She made a crying face.

"Then?"

Khushi kept her hands on her head, making a pout.

"Don't you dare come behind me... understand?"

He walked, suppressing his smile. Khushi thought something, and she rushed behind him.

"Where is your father? Is he still at your home?"

"No... he left this morning"

"Does he have a phone number?"

"Why? Do you want to worsen the issue more?"

"Please, please, give me his number. I will apologise to him"

"After insulting him, are you going to apologise? Wow... what an idea!" He walked to the staff room.

Khushi stood feeling sad. Her eyes tear up. She didn't do anything intentionally. She didn't do anything wrong. What was she doing wrong?

Khushi looked sad during the call. Neither did she answer any questions, nor did she pay attention in class. She didn't even leave the class for a short break.

Khushi saw Seema coming. She sat straight. She didn't want her to know the problem between her and Arnav's father. She didn't want to give her space. So, she was attentive in her class.

That was when an attendant came to their class and said,

"Ma'am, someone is here to meet Khushi"

Khushi frowned. Who came to meet her? Seema was also eager. She looked at Khushi and gestured for her to go. Khushi left the class.

"Who came?" Seema inquired of Clarke.

"Don't know, madam. Looking like her father"

Seema's face lit up. She looked at the watch and saw that there were ten minutes left.

Khushi came to meet the person who wanted to meet her. She was frozen when she saw the person... Arnav's father. She felt like freezing, but she was sweating profusely. She didn't know why he was there. Would he scold her for fighting with him? Maybe she ran away without giving him a chance to scold her that day.

She was scared, at the same time, she didn't want to miss the chance to apologise to him. She rushed to him and said,

"I'm sorry, uncle. I didn't know you were his father. I could not tolerate when you taunted him. That's why I lost my patience. I'm sorry. I didn't do that to insult you. In fact, my intention was not to insult you"

"When did I say you insulted me?"

Khushi was stuck.

"You made me feel proud of my son. I liked it"

Khushi was taken aback. Did he feel proud? So, Arnav intentionally said that to keep her at a distance?

"Aren't you angry with me?"

"What did you do to get angry?"

Khushi sighed in relief.

"Actually, uncle... I would not have told you about my interest..." She stopped hesitatingly, without telling 'IN HIM'.

"I'm glad you are interested in him."

Her eyes became broad.

"I'm glad about it and let him know about it", he confirmed.

Khushi's eyes filled with happy tears. Was Arnav's father like her? Didn't he have a problem with their relationship?

"Do you really like me?"

"Why won't I like you after witnessing how you would fight for my son?" he smiled.

Khushi chuckled, biting her lip.

"Don't feel bad that he is not interested in you"

Khushi pressed her lips, making a face.

"Instead, you should feel happy that he didn't HATE you"

"Means?"

"If he hates you, you could not have entered his house... that too using a duplicate key." He teased.

Khushibit her tongue awkwardly.

"Yeah, he would have filed a case against you if he hated you," Arvind didn't say if he didn't like you. He didn't want to keep her at a high level of hope because Arnav was unpredictable. At the same time, he didn't want him to miss Khushi.

"I know my son. No one would love him..."

Khushi smiled awkwardly, thinking about Seema, who was mad than her.

They heard the bell sound.

"Ok, I'm leaving. I just came to meet you. you go to your class."

Khushi nodded. She didn't say it was his son's class. She touched his feet.

"Be happy, like this... always", he blessed and took something from his pocket. It was vermilion that he brought from the temple.

"Will you come again?" Khushi asked.

Seema, who came there, heard that.

Arvind kept it on her forehead and touched her head while replying,

"I don't know beta, but I will try if I cross Dehradun. You are getting late. Go..."

She nodded and waved her hand. Then rushed to the class happily.

Arvind turned to leave, but stopped hearing,

"One minute, sir"

Arvind looked at Seema.

To be continued...
