15 Tricking Father
Part 15 Tricking Father
Arvind stopped hearing,
"One minute, sir"
Arvind looked at the woman.
"I'm Khushi's professor. I want to talk to you about Khushi," she said, cautiously looking around.
Arvind frowned. What would she talk about, Khushi?
"Tell me, madam"
"Could you please come to that side?"
Arvind was surprised. Why did she talk to him, hiding behind the wall? He wanted to know what the matter was. He nodded and went behind a wall.
"Tell me, Madam"
"Khushi is a talented girl. She will have a good future because she is a brilliant girl. I like her so much. How bubbly she is! She makes her surroundings lively. I don't know why you fixed her marriage with someone who doesn't know her value?"
Arvind was shocked. Did Khushi's marriage get fixed? He didn't know what to say because he didn't know about it.
"Just because you are Arnav's father's friend, is it necessary for you to get her to marry Arnav?"
Now, he was more confused. What was she talking about? He was Arnav's father's friend? Why did Khushi's professor think like that? Did Khushi frame such a scene here? She might have done that. Arvind guessed right.
Seema's next stance infuriated him.
"Arnav is a horrible choice for Khushi. He doesn't even give heed to her. He is in the same college. He doesn't even look at her, but she is behind him. He behaves as if he doesn't even know her. You and his father may be friends; you might have promised your friend, but please don't spoil your daughter's life for an unworthy promise. Find some excuse and break the alliance. Save your daughter's life. Arnav is not worthy of her. He doesn't even know how to talk sweetly. Your daughter will not be happy with him. Please think," she said in a low tone, and was supposed to leave,
"One minute..." Arvind said.
"Yes..."
"Who do you think I am?"
Seema frowned.
"You are Khushi's father, right?" She asked with a little bit of
"Who said?"
"The attender..." she studied hesitatingly.
"I'm not Khushi's father but Arnav's..." he said, looking at her penetratingly, making her horrified.
Seema sweated badly and gulped down. She didn't expect him to be Arnav's father. What a blender she had done! She intentionally got into trouble. She wanted to fill a bad image in Khushi's father's mind about Arnav, but she didn't expect it to backfire on her.
"I... I mean, this is the age for studying. I didn't want Khushi to get diverted from her studies..."
"So that, you DEGRADED my son?" his tone was low but sharp.
"No, sir..."
"What you told me about Khushi is right... Of course, my son may not be worthy of her now... but Khushi will make it possible. My son knows when and how to react. This is a collage. He is a professor. He knows his responsibility. That's why he is not showing his interest in her. That doesn't mean he is not interested in her. He would not have let her make the arrangements on his birthday if he was not interested. Do you know how grandly she arranged for his birthday? You know nothing about them. You don't have to...! Don't judge the book by its cover" he left the place.
Seema hit her forehead, frustrated. What the hell had she done? What if he told Arnav about her? he would do that. What would she do if it happened? Arnav would understand what she tried to do. Why didn't she ask who he was before conversing? She cursed herself for being stupid.
Arvind walked towards the exit, thinking about Seema. It seemed she didn't like Arnav. That was why she tried to create a bad impression in his mind. He could not believe a professor could have a cheap intention. He stopped walking. He should not leave without letting Arnav know about her. Moreover, Khushi would have made people believe that Arnav and her father were friends. He was unsure if Arnav would keep her word. So, he should do that on his own behalf. He turned towards the staff room. Akash saw him and asked,
"What do you want, sir?"
"I want to meet Arnav..."
The professors spared a glance as he uttered his name without SIR.
"Who are you, sir?"
"I'm his father"
All of them became curious. They had a slight doubt that Khushi was related to Arnav because he always gave her a cold shoulder.
"Please take your seat, sir. Arnav will come"
Arvind nodded and sat.
"Arnav is in Khushi's class..." One of them intentionally brought Khushi's name to see how he would react.
Arvind somehow understood everyone in the college knew about Khushi.
"Oh, is he in Khushi's class? Then, I will wait," he smiled.
"You and Khushi's father are friends, right?"
"Yeah, we're close friends... to the extent that we want to take our friendship to the next level by tying a wedding knot to our children," he assured.
They all looked at one another smilingly and started doing their work. Arvind waited.
In the meantime,
Khushi came to the class and Arnav was already there.
"May I come in?"
Arnav looked at her and gestured for her to get in. She walked in smiling. That made Arnav confused. He didn't know what made her smile brightly. Didn't she become sad after he said what his father thought about her? Then, what made her happy?
He started teaching the lesson, but noticed her who smiled at him as if she had achieved something significant.
The bell rang and it was a lunch break. Khushi rushed behind him and stood in fornt of him smilingly.
"What?"
"Couldn't you find any difference in my face?" She asked.
He thought she asked about the smile he constantly wore.
"Two eyes, one nose, two ears, everything is the same..." he said plainly.
"Wow, Arnie, have you started countering? Well... Good improvement. I'm bad about it. But, something is also there in my face..."
Arnav frowned.
"Can't you see the vermilion on my forehead?"
"So what's the big deal?"
"It was not there in the morning, and I didn't keep it, but someone..."
"Your friend should have kept it" He was supposed to leave, but stopped hearing,
"Not my friend but my father's friend..." she said, supressing her smile.
He looked at her in shock as he understood her point.
Khushi nodded her head, "Yes." Arnav widened his eyes. Did his father meet her? But when?
"My father-in-law met and blessed me by keeping vermilion on my forehead. How sweet he is! You know he likes me very much. He thinks only I can make his son happy..." She smiled cheesily.
Arnav rolled his eyes and walked. She walked with him in parallel.
"He said,' He is not angry with me. In fact, he is so proud of me,' she said, hopping.
Arnav walked fast; it was a lunch break, and everyone looked at them. When they came to the staff room, they heard someone saying,
"Arnav sir came, sir"
Arnav frowned, and they saw Arvind coming out of the staff room. Arnav and Khushi were stuck.
"Papa, you here?"
"I came to meet Khushi. I don't want her to think I'm angry with her," he smiled at Khushi.
"I already told him about it, uncle, " she smiled, looking at Arnav.
"Go and have lunch. You should attend the next period," Arnav said.
Khushi looked around and smiled as all eyes were on them.
"Ok, uncle... You guys carry on"
"Wait, Khushi..." Arvind stopped her.
She nodded.
"What's your father's name?"
"Shashi..." she said with a bit of hesitation.
"Everyone thinks that Mr. Shashi and I are friends. That's why I asked. I should not mess it up, right?" he said in a low tone and Khushi chuckled.
"See you, uncle"
He blinked. Khushi rushed happily. Arnav fought not to smile.
"Actually, Papa, I saved her from the goons when I went to Nainital. In the search for her friend, we were forced to stay together. She started blabbering that she liked me. Then, she joined this college without knowing I'm a professor here. She became excited and talked to me casually. I know her nature and feared her never-hesitating expression of her feelings. To avoid unnecessary gossip, I said she is my father's friend's daughter, so that no one would think of us wrongly"
"You have done a good job"
"But, she is taking advantage of my words..."
"She is a nice girl. I believe she will not do anything that will ruin your reputation. Instead, she will stand for you. Mark my words"
Arnav looked at him plainly.
"Yes, the way she stood for you makes me think so. One day, you will understand that she will do anything for you. It's very rare to find a TRUSTED hand. If you find one, HOLD it TIGHT"
Arnav didn't know what to say.
"By the way, I stayed back because I want to tell you something"
"Tell me, Dad"
That was when Arvind saw Seema going to the women's staff room.
"Who is the woman?" Arvind asked.
Arnav looked at her and widened his eyes. Did Arvind know Seema?
Exactly, precisely the same time, Seema looked at Arvind and Arnav. Her expression became horrified, seeing them looking at her. She rushed inside the staffroom hurriedly. Then watched them hiding.
"Why, Papa? Did Khushi say anything about her?"
Arvind was stuck. What was there for Khushi supposed to tell about the professor? He wanted to know it, so he nodded yes. Arnav sighed.
"Being a professor, I don't know how she roams behind me..."
Arvind raised his brows in amusement. Was she roaming behind Arnav?
"Papa, please don't take it seriously. She is as same as Khushi..."
Cutting him off,
"No... she is not as same as Khushi..."
Arnav was stuck and was supposed to say something, but Arvind stopped him.
"She is the direct opposite of Khushi. I know... because she spoke to me"
"Whaaat? Did Seema talk to you?"
"Yes, she spoke to me thinking that I'm Khushi's father. She asked me not to get Khushi married to an unworthy person like you"
Arnav was shocked.
"Did she say so?"
"Yes, she asked me not to waste Khushi's life by getting her married to you. She said you are a terrible choice for Khushi"
Arnav tightened his jaws.
"Now, tell me, is she as same as Khushi? No... Khushi fought with me for degrading you. She could not tolerate anyone talking rubbish about you. But, Seema? She might have talked to me like that to keep Khushi away from you... she was even ready to spoil your respect to get you. She knew Khushi's and Arnav's fathers are friend. Yet, she didn't hesitate to talk rubbish about you. What kind of professor is she? Is she equal to Khushi? No... Khushi made me feel proud of my son. But Seema made me feel bad even though I know she was not true"
Arnav was silent.
"I wanted you to know about her. That's why I waited. Be careful with the woman."
Arnav nodded.
"And, Khushi didn't tell me about Seema. I lied to you to get the truth from you"
Arnav was perplexed. How cleverly his father tricked him!
"I'm leaving. Take care of yourself."
"Sure, Papa"
"Take care of Khushi too... for me..." he smiled.
Arnav was silent.
"Bye"
"Bye"
Arvind left the place.
Varanav thought Arvind would say only about Khushi. But it seemed something else. He shrugged off the thought because he never gave heed to Seema.
On the other side, Seema lost her peace. She thought she could get the place in Arnav's life if she removed Khusuvi from his life. It seemed there was no way for her to get into his life. She could not tolerate it. Her avenging mind became more furious. It was confirmed that she could not get Arnav. It didn't mean she should let him marry Khushi and let them be happy. She decided to play her card in the class and insult Khushi.
To be continued...
