19 Aman
Part 19 Aman
Khushi was stuck seeing the man entering Arnav's house. She sighed in relief. He was not a goon, like she thought. But who was he to Arnav? How did they know each other?
In the meanwhile,
The man who entered Arnav's house went to the kitchen and kept the Basmati rice on the kitchen slab. The girl in the kitchen smiled at him.
"Thank God, you came, Aman. I thought you would be late." Lavanya said.
"Do you know whom I met in the bus stand?" Aman asked.
"Who?"
"The girl Arnav saved from the goons in Nainital..."
"Is it? Is she in Dehradun? But how did she come here? I thought she belonged to Nainital..."
"Yes, I too thought the same. I asked her the same, but she ran away as if I were a ghost..."
"But why?"
"Don't know why she ran away like that..."
Arnav, who came there, asked,
"Who ran away?"
"The girl..."
"Which girl?"
"The one you saved from the goons in Nainital..."
"Where did you see Khushi?"
"Oh, is her name Khushi? How do you know that?"
"She studies in my college."
"Is it? What a coincidence...!" Lavanya wondered.
"But, why did she run like that?"
"That's what I can't understand. Why did she run away seeing you?" Arnav also could not understand.
"Not seeing me, but after hearing my questions..." Aman said.
"What questions did you ask her?"
"I asked, 'Are you in Dehradun? Did you leave Nainital?"
"Mmm... now I understood why she ran like that..."
"Why?"
"She would have thought you were one of the goons who tried to kidnap her because when you saw her, she was unconscious. So, she would have been scared hearing your questions. Because the goons would have also told the same if they had met her."
"Am I looking like a goon or what?" Aman asked, looking at himself.
Vranav and Lavanya controlled their smile.
"The goons who chased her looked like you only..." Arnav countered.
"I'm not going to leave this. She is studying at your college, right? I will meet her and ask her what made her think I can be a goon..."
"Don't you dare do that", Arnav warned.
"Why?
"No means no... that's final..." Arnav was about to go, but Aman blocked his way.
"Why? Why shouldn't I meet her?"
"She is too naughty... she will take it into her favour..."
Aman was taken aback. Was that Arnav who was worried about a girl's naughtiness? What was there to take it into her favour?
"I didn't get you... She is studying at your college. She might be your student. Then, how does she take it into her favour?"
"She will..."
Aman thought something.
"One minute, you saved her from the goons. Stayed with her. Does she have something in her heart for you...?" Lavanya guessed right.
Varanv was silent.
"That's it... So, you have someone to follow you?" She asked delightedly.
"Not everyone who follows me can be special..." he might have said that, keeping Seema in his mind.
"Of course, not everyone..." Aman smiled.
"Leave it..."
"How could we leave it?"
"Aman, there is nothing like what you are thinking."
"Ok, there is nothing in your mind like what I'm thinking. What about Khushi? Doesn't she have anything in her heart?"
Arnav was silent.
"So, she has..."
"She is a crazy girl..."
"Crazy about you?"
Arnav sighed.
"Don't you like her?"
"She is my student."
"So, that was the only point that stops you?"
"Shut up, Aman..."
"So what if she is your student now? She will complete her graduation in two or three years. After that, she will not be your student."
"Will you guys serve me biriyani or should I prepare something?" he changed the topic.
Aman sighed and looked at Lavanya, who continued with the preparation, smiling. Aman took the onions to cut them to help Lavanya.
That was when they heard a knock on the door. Arnav went to open the door. He was stuck seeing Khushi standing. She pulled him out and said,
"Arnie, I saw someone. He asked me when I came to Dehradun, leaving Nainital..."
Arnav understood she was talking about Aman.
"I followed him and saw him entering your house. Who is he? Where is he?" She looked inside.
"You didn't believe when I said I was one of the goons and I saved you, only to kidnap you. Now, he came here searching for you. before he sees you, leave this place. Or else, even I can't help you. Run away..." he said in a feeble tone.
Khushi looked at him, horrified, with a stern expression. The next second, she burst out laughing, making him frown.
"Very good performance, Arnie..." she tapped his shoulder.
"Don't you believe me?" he shrugged her hand.
She flipped her lip and shook her head from left to right. He tried to tell her something, but she stopped him by showing her palm.
"Don't play your cards, my darling... I already heard your talks through the window..." she smiled, folding her lip.
Varanv rolled his eyes.
"Even though I didn't hear your talks, I would not have trusted your words because I know my Arnie. What I saw in your eyes when you hit the goons can't be acting, my baby. So, stop playing your card with me." She pinched his cheek.
"Why do you come here?" he shrugged her hand again.
"To ask you something..."
"You can ask me anything tomorrow. Or, I will call you later. Now, leave."
"Why shouldn't I ask you now?"
"Look, my friends are here. We will sort out our problem later. now leave..."
She pouted and was supposed to leave, but stopped hearing.
"Wait, Khushi..."
She saw the same man standing who she had met at the bus stand. She looked at Arnav, who rolled his eyes.
"I'm Aman. Arnie's... I mean, Arnav's friend..." He smiled at Arnav teasingly.
They understood that Aman heard their talks.
"He is a professor, but lies a lot..." Aman mocked Arnav.
"I know..." Khushi said, and Arnav glared at her.
"Come in, Khushi..." Aman said.
Khushi looked at Arnav.
"He won't say anything. Come..."
Khushi entered home. Lavanya came there.
"She is my wife, Lavanya"
"Hi..."
"Hi..." Lavanya hugged her formally.
Aman was about to ask her something. Before that, she said,
"You don't look like a goon. I was scared because of your questions."
"Thank God... I thought I would leave India without getting clear..." Aman smiled.
"Why are you leaving India?" Khushi asked.
"I got a job abroad. That's why we came to Nainital to meet Arnie, before leaving."
"Oh... that's nice. I don't know he has such a close friend"
"You won't believe if I say what he did for us" Lavanya said.
"What?" Khushi looked at Arnav.
"Lavanya..." Arnav chided.
"Arrey, why don't you want me to tell her? Khushi, we loved each other, but my father didn't accept our love. He was completely against it. In fact, he tried to kill Aman. Arnav was the one who arranged our marriage. Because of him, we are now husband and wife. Still, my father is searching for us."
"For?"
"To kill us... he won't be quite until he revenges us. That's why we are going abroad."
"Doesn't he get angry with Arnav for getting you married?"
"Of course, yes. He even sent a few to break his hands and legs, but he broke theirs." Aman laughed.
Khushi looked at Arnav meaningfully, who didn't look at her.
"By the way, Khushi, why do you come here?" Aman asked.
"I came to ask him something."
"Shall we leave?"
Before Khushi answered, Arnav did.
"No need..."
He looked at Khushi and asked,
"What do you want to ask me?"
"Why did you send me lunch yesterday?"
Arnav was stuck for a while.
"Is it? Did he send you lunch?"
Khushi nodded.
"I think it's because your palm is hurt..." Lavanya said.
"Yeah, he has a concern for you..." Aman said.
"No, Papa asked me to take care of her..." Arnav said, making them perplexed.
"Papa? Did your father come here?" Lavanya asked.
Arnav nodded.
"On his birthday..." Khushi said.
"How did he know Khushi?"
"I was here arranging for his birthday celebration when his father came here."
"Did you arrange for his birthday?" Aman looked at Arnav surprisingly.
"I didn't allow her to do that. Without my consent, she took a print of my house key and did that." Arnav said, but Aman's question made him speechless.
"She took a print of your key without your consent. Still, you are allowing her to step into your house?"
Arnav was embarrassed seeing Aman smirking. Didn't he know his friend?
To be continued...
