Part 20 Aman's Demand

"She took a print of your key without your consent. Still, you are allowing her to step into your house?" Aman asked.

Arnav was embarrassed seeing Aman smirking. Didn't he know his friend? Aman folded his hands with a contented gaze.

"Ok, you've got to know why I sent lunch. Now, you can leave," Arnav said.

"Wait, Arnav. I have a few questions to ask her," Aman said, and Arnav rolled his eyes.

"What did Uncle Arvind say after meeting you, Khushi?"

"Actually, we didn't talk when we met because I fought with him without knowing that he was his father"

"What? You fought with him? But why?"

"He pretended like someone and taunted Arnav. I became angry and lashed him over" Khushi pouted.

"Oh... so you have impressed him in the first meeting itself..."

She nodded, looking at Arnav.

"Then he came to our college to meet me."

"Is it?'

"Yes, he said he was not upset with me and he liked me so much"

"Why won't he like you if you stand for his son? Am I right, Arnie?" Aman teased him.

"My father likes her because he doesn't know how mischievous she is!"

"Mischievous? What did she do that you say she is mischievous?"

Arnav was stuck. What could he say? She was behind him and would talk a lot.

"Leave it..." he said.

"How could I leave it? You said she is mischievous. Tell me how,"

"She talks a lot and nags me a lot..."

"Oh, so you concluded that she is mischievous!"

"Isn't she?"

"If you ask me, I will say no because these features are rare and to be admired...what say Lav?" Aman brought Lavanya for his support.

"Of course, if your girl will also be like you, your life will not be interesting and like a flat surface..." She chuckled.

Arnav sighed and said,

"I'm hungry... if you guys don't have an idea to cook, I will go to the restaurant..."

"Arnav, it seems angry is sitting on your nose, always ready to pounce..." Lavanya said.

"Do you know how to cook?" Aman asked Khushi.

She nodded yes, raising her brows.

"Really? Isn't it great?"

"Taste her coffee and then say..." Arnav mocked, and Khushi pouted.

"I don't like coffee. That's why I didn't learn to make good coffee, but yesterday I learnt from my aunt, since I found out he likes coffee. Now I can prepare a good coffee. Shall I?" Khushi asked.

"You can... before that, tell me, when and where he tasted your coffee?" Aman cornered, and Arnav regretted spilling the beans.

"Two days ago, at my house..." Khushi replied.

"At your house? Did he come to your house?"

She nodded.

"For what, Arnav?" he asked teasingly.

"To meet her aunt"

"Aunty? But why?"

"What else? To complain about me," Khushi pouted.

"What are you, man? Did you go to her house to complain about her? I thought some ROMANTIC moment would have happened..." Aman sighed.

Arnav and Khushi could not help but glance at each other and think about the romantic moment that had just happened between them. Arnav gulped hard when she bit her lower lip. He diverted his gaze immediately, and she smirked.

"Ok, Khushi, have lunch with us..."

"No, I have to go. We will have lunch another day." She said, not wanting to embarrass Arnav.

"But, we are going abroad. Don't know when we will come to India again."

"That's ok. You guys would have come to spend your time with your friend. I'm delighted to meet you."

Aman sighed.

"Can't you consider?" Lavanya asked.

"It's ok, yaar..." She smiled awkwardly.

Aman blinked his eyes at Lavanya.

"I'm leaving..." Khushi said.

"One minute", Aman took a piece of paper and wrote his and Lavanya's phone numbers on it.

He handed it to Khushi.

"Our numbers. Keep in touch with us..."

Khushi nodded.

"Won't you give your number?"

She took her mobile and dialled Lavanya's number. Her phone rang.

"Save it..." She smiled.

"Sure..." Aman said.

"Bye..." She walked out.

Arnav went to his room, and Aman followed him. before Arnav locked the door, Aman entered. Arnav turned opposite to him.

"Why can't you face me, Arnav?"

"Nothing is like that", he said, not facing him.

Aman came in front of him and held his shoulders.

"Touch your heart and say, don't you like her?"

"As a professor, I like her because she is sharp in class."

"Damn you, professor... I'm not talking about your professor-student relationship, and you know that. Even your father liked her. He wanted you to settle down in your life. Do you think you will get a better girl than her?"

"I don't think about anything..."

"Then start thinking. Then only you can understand what you are refusing."

"Aman, try to understand. I can't become a BAD example to the students."

"If this is your problem, just resign from the job and find another... You will also get a good job abroad."

"Don't talk like you know nothing about me. What will my father do if I leave India?"

"You are talking as if he is staying with you...? You know well he will not come to you permanently. Then why are you adamant?"

"I know he will not come to me permanently, but he will visit my place like he did two days ago... at least, for my birthday..."

"But, he also liked Khushi, right?"

"He liked her because she had the guts to approach me"

"I, too, want you to accept her for the same reason because approaching you is not easy, that too, in the way she does...because she looks genuine."

"Leave it, Aman. I'm not ready to talk about it now."

"Now? Ok, we will talk about it after she completes her graduation." Aman left the place.

Arnav didn't know how Khushi had won over his people one by one. He sighed.

On the other side,

Seema received a call from Asha. Although she was annoyed, she still attended the call. She knew Asha would advise her again. She wanted to end that. that was why she attended the call.

"Asha, listen, don't start your advising session with me. I'm not in the mood to hear you"

"Who is going to advise you? I just want to ask, is what I heard true?"

"What did you hear?"

"Did Arjun threaten you?"

"Mmm..."

"Don't you have a sense?"

"See, I already told you not to start..."

"Shut up and listen to me. Do you know who Arjun is? He is the president of the student welfare club. Don't you know that?"

Seema was silent.

"Don't you know how to do anything indirectly?"

Seema sat straight.

"That Arjun is thinking he can do anything. He never respected professors, and you had given him a chance to show how superior he is! We are thinking about how to suppress him, but because of you, he rose again today. He regained the students' respect. Don't you know, you should do anything not in the open? How could you remove Khushi's answer sheets?"

Seema was shocked. how did Asha know that?"

"The whole college is gossiping about you only. Do you know what problem you have touched? I already warned you about Arnav. He would have learnt what you do to Khushi. He won't mind taking action for any student, then what about Khushi? Do you think he will be quiet after what you did?"

"You know how much I love Arnav. I don't know why everything backfires for me in his matter. I tried to keep Khushi away from him when I found out that her father had come to our college. But my bad, he was not Khushi's father, but Arnav's. Without knowing the truth, I spoke so lowly of Arnav. I ruined everything in my own hands. What would I do if my mind seethed in anger? Just think about standing on my shoes. What would you have done if you were in my place?"

"I would have given them a death blow."

Seema was stuck.

"What? What did you say?"

"I said I would hit them hard so that they could not stand again, not like what you did."

"What are you saying? Aren't you angry with me?"

"When did I say I'm angry with you? I don't like the way you approached the issue, because Arnav isn't what you think. He has a spy in every class. Students will do anything for him because he stands for them even though he is a strict professor."

"What do you want me to do?"

"Just behave like you are repenting for your past deeds. Apologies to Arnav if you can, and make him believe that you have changed."

"Then?"

"Then, do what you want."

"Good idea... I'm sorry, Asha. I thought you were completely against me."

"You are an EXTREME level of a woman. If you want to coax Khushi, you would stoop low, and if you want to avenge her, you would do that without thinking of the consequences...! Don't do that"

"You are right. I lose my temper if I don't get what I want."

"Do anything but before that, discuss with me. I will suggest the right choice."

"Thank you so much, Asha."

"We are professors. We should not lose to the students. I, too, have self-respect. I can't get it ruined."

"Thank you so much."

"Be careful. Arnav would be angry with you as he would have known what you did."

"I'm scared..."

"Don't be... he won't talk to you regarding. If he talks, answer him bravely."

Seema gulped hard. She would lose her senses if she saw him. how could she talk to him bravely?

"From here on, don't interact with students. Keep your distance from them."

"Ok..."

"Please don't do anything hastily."

"Certainly not... but I will surely take revenge on him."

"See, again you lose your temper."

"No, I will not do anything without thinking. This time, I will hit him hard. Even Khushi will not marry him."

"Do you have a plan?"

"Yes... I will implement it next Sunday..."

"Why Sunday?"

"Arnav will be at home. Then only he will come to my home if I call him"

"Are you going to call him to your home?"

"Yes, that day will be the last day of his respected life."

"What are you going to do?"

Seema told her about the plan.

"When did you plan?"

"When I understood, he slipped from my hand completely. If he is not for me, no one should get him..."

Asha sighed.

"Be careful, don't get into trouble..."

"I will not get into trouble. I will make it..."

"All the best. If you want my help, I'm here..."

"Thank you..."

"You are welcome."

They disconnected the call.

...........

Lavanya brought the dishes to the table and called Arnav and Aman. They came to the dining room. Lavanya was supposed to serve them, but Arnav stopped her.

"You too sit with us... We will take what we want."

"Yeah, let's go for self-service..." Aman said.

Lavanya sat beside him. They had lunch and chatted. Aman and Lavanya were so cautious about their words. They talked carefully, not wanting to hurt
Arnav in any way. They finished eating lunch and sat in the living room, turning on the TV.

"How is your father now?" Aman asked.

Arnav nodded.

"Is he still the same?"

Arnav nodded.

"He is visiting temples to wash his sins because he doesn't want it to hit me..."

Aman sighed.

"Aman told me about your family. I didn't expect your family would face such a cruel problem",

Arnav was silent.

"It's too hard to cross such a phase. Arnav went through it..." Aman said, feeling sad.

Arnav gulped down hard.

"You know what, Arnav, I saw a slight smile on your face after a long time, even though you pretend like you are not interested..."

Arnav knew what he was talking about. He too tried to control his smile but failed.

"I heard your voice when you told Khushi that you are one of the goons. I sensed a naughtiness in your tone at that time. It's clear that you are enjoying her company. I know you love her, too. Marry her, Arnav." Aman said.

Arnav was silent, which satisfied Aman because Arnav didn't deny it. He knew the meaning of his silence. It always had a deep meaning.

To be continued...
