22 Deal...
Part 22 Deal...
"I will not leave him and still be with him." Khushi smiled, spreading a smile to Aman and Lavanya's faces.
"But he won't be easy..." Aman said as if she didn't know that.
"I know he is a tough nut..."
Cutting her off,
"Yet, do you believe you can mend things between you?"
"Yes, because the reason is so simple. He is a professor. That's why he doesn't want to accept me, so I'll drop out."
"Whaaaat?" They were shocked.
"Yeah... If we want to achieve something, we have to lose something. Nothing is more important to me than Arnav."
"But, your studies?"
"He will make me study. He will not let me quit it." She chuckled.
Aman and Lavanya were dumb founded. Her trust and understanding of Arnav left them speechless.
"We all have some flaws. We can never cherish good things if we focus on the flaws." Khushi added.
"What good thing attracted you to Arnav?" Lavanya asked.
"He is a genuine person. I don't know what my condition would have been if he had not saved me that day. Besides, he kept me safe and stayed with me. He dropped me in Delhi. If someone had been in his place, I'm sure he would not have been like him. He is a gentleman. I like him so much..."
Aman and Lavanya were satisfied.
"We will be eagerly waiting for your wedding announcement..."
"I am also eagerly waiting for the day to come in my life..."
"Take care of him. Bye..."
"Bye..."
They got apart.
When Aman and Lavanya returned to Arnav's house, Arnav was up. He was having coffee. Seeing Aman and Lavanya,
"Come on, guys, have coffee," he pointed at the flask.
Aman and Lavanya sat in front of him. While pouring the coffee into the cups, Lavanya said,
"I can't believe a girl could be with so much trust and understanding..."
"Yes, I, too, am stunned. Even after knowing the boy's mindset, I don't know how she could be so confident."
"I thought only our love is true and deep. I didn't expect someone's love could be deeper than mine."
Varnan was switching his gaze from Aman to Lavanya with confusion. He did not know about whom they were talking.
"Did you guys go to a movie?" he asked
"Movie? No. We went to a temple..."
"You guys went to a temple and are talking about someone's love..."
"It's because we met a girl deeply in love with someone."
"Not just deeply but madly..." Aman corrected.
"Another mad?" Arnav mumbled, and they heard it.
"Another? Who is that?" Aman asked.
Arnav was struck. He nodded no.
"Can't you understand, Aman? That's another one, Khushi... Am I right, Arnav?"
"She is indeed a mad..." Arnav said.
"Of course, after all, she loves you..." Aman said mockingly.
"You know what... We didn't talk about another girl but Khushi herself..." Lavanya declared.
Arnav was taken aback.
"Yes, we met her in the temple. Please don't mistake me, Arnav. You will never get such a girl in your life. Her love for you is true. You will be happy with her. She is ready to do anything for you. What release do you need? She is ready to drop out if you don't accept her."
"This is why I said she is mad, " he said wearily.
"She is not mad, but you, who don't understand her value..." Aman said heating up.
"Yes, Arnav. Just ask her to wait until she completes her graduation. It's enough. She will be waiting for you without tension..." Lavanya pleaded.
"If you refuse to accept her, you will repent for it one day..." Aman said.
Arnav fell silent.
"Leave it, Lav... He is not a kid to advise but a professor..." Aman said wearily.
The next day, Aman and Lavanya were ready to leave.
"Take care of Lav..." Arnav said.
"You too take care of Khushi..." Aman said.
"She is a nice girl. Don't miss her," Lavanya said as she got on the bus.
"See you...I will try to come to send you off," Arnav said, and Aman hugged him.
After sending them off, Arnav drove to the college.
.......
Khushi was ready to give the exam in Seema's subject. This time, she was ready to do it cleverly. After finishing the exam, she decided to count her papers, standing on the stage. But, she witnessed the most significant change in Seema. She didn't even avoid looking at Khushi but smiled at her warmly, which surprised Khushi. She taught a lesson and left the class silently. She stopped seeing Arnav coming in the opposite direction. Without thinking of anything, she tried to touch his feet. Arnav jumped a step back shockingly.
"What the hell...! What are you doing?" He asked with the same shock.
Seema looked at him with teary eyes, making him perplexed.
"I'm sorry, sir... Please forgive my cheap behaviour. I behaved senselessly, forgetting that I'm a professor. I should not have done that. I understand nothing will happen as per our wish but destiny. Khushi is a nice girl. Being her professor, I was jealous of her...! I tore her answer paper to satisfy my dirty ego. How cheap! I failed to be nice to nice to both of you. I'm sorry for torturing you. I will never cross your path. Don't forgive me, but forget a cheap woman like me." She rushed out of the place.
Arnav stood with an unbelievable expression. Was that Seema who talked all of that? He saw Khushi standing with a painful expression. He rolled his eyes and entered the class. Khushi followed him. He noticed Khushi was sad in the entire class. As it was the last period, the last bell rang.
Arnav looked at Khushi and said,
"Wait for me."
She nodded and headed to the parking lot. Arnav came with his bag.
"Sit in the car..." He got in and started the car.
He left the college after Khushi sat in the car. Khushi gazed at him to know why he had called her.
"What did you talk to Aman and Lavanya about?" He asked, driving the car.
"I talk to them about ME..."
"Don't lie... You talked about me to them."
"That's what I said. You and I are the same..."
Arnav got stuck.
"I think you watch movies a lot... That's why dialogues are flowing like a river..." He said sarcastically.
"Really? Does it sound like movie dialogue? Wow..." She chuckled.
Arnav shook his head and sighed.
"Why were you sad in the class?" He asked, even though he guessed it.
"I felt bad about Seema Madam. Poor she, how she would have dreamed about her life with you. She would be broken."
"So? What are you going to do?"
"What can I do when my life itself is unclear?"
"Then why are you feeling sad about her?"
"That's what I can do... Thank God, my story is not as bad as hers..."
"How?" He looked at her, raising his brows.
Khushi was supposed to say something, but stopped and closed her mouth with her palm. She nodded no when he looked at her.
"What happened? You were supposed to say something, I suppose..."
"I was supposed to... But why should I put my head into a lion's mouth?" She said taking her palm from her mouth.
"I didn't get you."
"I know how cunning you are. I was about to say I could take a place in your car that Seema madam could not. It may kick your senses and you may say, get out of the car..." She again closed her mouth with her palm.
Arnav controlled his smile.
"I asked what you talked to Aman and Lavanya..." He asked with a slight smile.
"You won't understand if I say that"
"Why?"
"It's because it's about MY( she stressed) feelings."
He frowned. Why did she stress the word "MY?" What did that mean? Did she hint that he understood others' feelings but not hers?
"You understood I won't understand your feelings. Still, why do you expect me in your life?"
"I want you to be with me. That's all. Be what you are..."
"I can't marry my student..."
"Ok, don't marry me..." She says shrugging her shoulders.
He looked at her jerking.
"And, don't marry anyone either. I, too, will not marry anyone. We will be like this... Forever... Deal?" She asked.
"Have you gone mad?"
"Kind of..."
"How could you be without getting married forever? Being alone is not easy for a girl..."
"I can be like this if you are with me... It's not necessary to get married. Just be like this... No relationship, no commitments... Just be with me.
"What kind of deal is this?"
"I know you will protect me no matter what."
"You are crazy..."
"Why? Can't you be without getting married?"
He sighed.
"Answer me..."
"I never think of getting married..."
"Thank God..." She sighed.
"How is your palm now?"
"Yeah, better... Aunty didn't let me do anything." She looked at her palm.
"Thank you for your lift. I was so sad about getting separated from you for two days. Now, I will be thinking about our conversation this weekend."
"Don't waste your time and study..."
"Even on Saturday and Sunday?" She pouted.
"Time is precious..."
"You are more precious to me..."
He averted his gaze from her.
"Ok, drop me here" she said.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I don't want to take a risk, " she murmured.
It was not so inaudible.
"What did you say?" He asked.
"If you drop me off at home, I will invite you to come to my home to show you the coffee preparation skills I learned from my aunt. I don't want to take a risk because I will lose myself if you are close to me." She got out of the car and stopped an auto. Looking at him, she got into it.
Arnav, who had been rigid until then, smiled. If she didn't want him to visit her home, how could she be forever without getting married?
......
Khushi didn't like the weekend. She didn't want to be at home, but she wanted to go to college because she could meet Arnav only if she went there. She felt bored. Finally, she pushed the Saturday.
Sunday evening
Arnav got a call from Khushi. He frowned because she never called him, but sent only messages. He attended the call, sighing. Before he said anything,
"Varnie..." Khushi's voice sounded weak. Arnav jumped from the couch.
"Khushi are you all right?"
"No... I have had a fever since morning. I feel weak and dizzy."
"Why didn't you go to the hospital?"
"Aunty went to Allahabad to attend a function. I'm alone."
"Ok... I will come..."
"Mmm..."
Arnav disconnected the call and rushed out, taking the car key.
He reached Khushi's house. He rang the bell, but there was no response. He again rang the bell. This time, he heard a mild sound from inside. Khushi opened the door and leaned on the wall. She looked weak. Arnav held her in his arms. Her body was hot.
"Khushi, what happened to you? Could you hear me? Look at me..." He tapped her cheek gently.
She opened her eyes putting effort.
"Khushi, let's go to the hospital..."
She nodded.
"Come..."
"Water..."
"What?"
"I need water. It's too cold. I can't drink it."
Arnav felt bad for her.
"Wait..." He made her sit on the couch.
In no time, she slid on it. Arnav rushed to the kitchen and boiled the water warmly. He brought it to Khushi and saw her lying on the couch with her legs hanging. He made her sit and drink water. She drank the full glass as she was too thirsty. He kept the glass on the table.
"Let's go..." He lifted her by her shoulder.
She circled his bicep and leaned on his shoulder. He brought her out and locked the door. He lifted her in his arms and headed to the car without thinking. Placing her in the car, he started it and geared it up to the hospital.
To be continued...
