3 Khushi's stand
Part 3 Khushi's stand
Aman wondered. Arnav has changed a lot. He is taking everything in the way it is. Life has taught him a lot about reality. But... is he ready to get married? Does he come out of the grief completely? He felt NO.
Aman was not wrong. Arnav's next stance made him right.
"I don't want to get married." He said while dipping the roti in the dall.
Arvind and Ratna spared a glance.
"After all, I'm a murderer. Don't lose your respect, asking a girl's hand for me."
Ratna gulped hard. How confident Arnav had been. How hopelessly he is talking now...
"And... I'm not ready to get into a relationship."
"No Chotte... we don't force you for marriage..."
"That will be good..."
"But, not all the girls are the same..." Ratna said sadly.
"Of course, but we can't predict who is right and who is wrong. And... I have lost the right to talk about it..." Inferiority complex was visible in his words.
"Why are you talking like this ASR... girls will stand in the queue to marry you..." Aman said.
Arnav chuckled.
"Stop blabbering man..."
"But Chotte..."
"Mom, I would like to tell you guys something very strongly. I don't want to get married. That's final. Don't think you can change my mind with emotional dramas. You can't. I have you guys... It's enough for me."
"For how long, Chotte?"
"I will definitely tell you when I feel to get married."
He ate without looking at them but the trio looked at only Arnav. Aman gestured them to be quiet. They obeyed him.
"I'm leaving, ASR."
"Where are you going?"
"Where else? AR..."
Arnav nodded yes.
"I hope you will also join me soon."
Arnav said nothing and thought something.
"Take your time ASR. No hurry."
Arnav nodded yes and went to his room.
"I don't know how he will become our old Arnav," Arvind said miserably.
"Don't worry, Dad. He will be alright. We will make him alright." Aman said.
"It seems he will never agree to get married..." Ratna said sadly.
"How would he be ready Mom? Let him get relaxed until we found a suitable girl..."
"From where we find a suitable girl for him...?" Arvind asked wearily.
"haan... I don't think it's easy to find a girl for him. Who will give their daughter's hand for a ..." Ratna sobbed without completing it.
"Mom, don't think like that. There will be someone who understands ASR." Aman consoled her.
"I don't think so, Aman beta. He is not ready to get married. No girl will get married to a man who has a dark past. I don't know how we are going to cross all the hurdles." Ratna said keeping her hand on her head.
"Don't stress yourself Ratna... everything will be alright."
"How? How will everything be alright? Doesn't he look stony?" Ratna asked dejectedly.
"He would be like this because the place from where he came is like that," Arvind said.
"Haan, Mom. He will be alright in a few days because he is going to be with us," Aman gave them hope.
"Without getting a diversion, Chotte can't come out of the grief. Only a girl can make his mind divert. That's why I want him to get married."
"You are not wrong Mom. But when ASR is not ready..."
Cutting him,
"It's not about he is READY or NOT, Aman beta... he is guilt and scared of relationship... and, he is already thirty-one... usually girls hesitating to marry a man in this age... our side is very weak... That's why I want him to get married."
Aman nodded yes.
"He will be alright... trust me. He will conquer himself soon." Aman said.
"Aman is right Ratna. We have to wait."
Ratna nodded ok.
"Shashi Bhai said he will come again... call him..." Ratna said.
At the same time, Shashi entered in.
"Here he came." Arvind said.
"Bhai, have you had lunch?" Ratna asked Shashi.
"I'm going home. Garima called me. Before going home, I just thought to meet you. How is Arnav?"
"Nothing is there to tell about him..." Arvind said gulping down.
"What else could you expect from him? After all, he faced betrayal..." Shashi said.
"I don't know what our mistake was" Ratna cried.
"Trusting an underserving person was our mistake..." Arvind said.
"There is no use of talking about what we can't change. Think what has to be done." Shashi said.
"Shashi uncle is right..." Aman said.
"Arnav became odd. Whatever we talk will irritate him. So, as of now, don't talk anything about marriage." Shashi said.
Arvind nodded yes.
"Don't worry Ratnaji... everything will change ONE DAY but everything won't change IN one day." Shashi said.
Ratna nodded ok.
"I'm leaving. Bye." Shashi got up.
"I too leave... there are a lot of work in AR."
"Don't worry Aman. Your junior Boss will share your work load soon." Shashi said smilingly.
"He doesn't have to share my work load uncle. I will be happy if he lessens aunt's worry."
Shashi nodded yes and left RM. Aman also followed him.
GH
Shashi was not sleeping that day. He was toasting on the bed, thinking about Arnav. What a background he has... how big his reputation was... How everything changed in an overnight...
He recalled what Ratna and Arvind talked with Aman. In fact, Shashi was there hearing their talks. He stopped at the entrance, hearing Ratna's aching words. He felt sad for Ratna and Arvind.
When Shashi came to Delhi five years ago, Arvind is the one who helped him to settle down in Delhi. The same year Arnav got married and Shashi helped Arvind in the marriage arrangements. He didn't even dream of Arnav's life to get ruined like this.
"Who will give their daughter's hand to a ...?"
Ratna's words were echoing in his head. What a painful words they are...! How hurt a mother would have been felt when she uttered it....! He sighed.
The next morning
Garima handed the coffee cup to Shashi and sat beside him, taking a cup.
"Khushi beta, come and take the coffee..." Garima shouted.
Khushi came there and sat before them.
"Khushi beta, why your eyes look tired?"
"I didn't get proper sleep last night Babuji"
"You too? But why?"
"I was thinking about what to do further..." Khushi sipped the coffee.
"You said you are going to find a job?" Garima asked.
"Now, I think I should help Babuji..."
Shashi kept the cup finishing the coffee.
"For me?"
"Haan Babuji. You and Nanne are struggling alone in our shop. So, I decided to help you."
"This is a very good decision Khushi. I will be stress-free as you are going to be under your father and brother's control."
"Garima... you are wrong. She will get us under her control..." Shashi laughed so did Garima.
"These MEN are so meant... they keep women in control but act like they are in woman's control. Khushi pouted.
Shashi laughed louder.
"I didn't sleep because I was thinking about what to do further but why you didn't sleep Babuji?" Khushi asked.
"I was thinking about Arnav."
Khushi stopped sipping the coffee and looked at Shashi.
"Why? How is he?" Garima asked.
"He is exactly what I expected. So... peculiar..."
"Oh, God... Ratnaji must be worried. Why this boy is making their parents bother?"
Khushi bit her lip and nodded NO slightly which was noticed by Shashi.
"It seems, you have a different view about Arnav?" Shashi asked Khushi.
"What she would think about him? She is a small girl after all..." Garima said.
"You are her mother... it's obvious if you think that she is a small girl but she is twenty-one... don't forget that. (turning towards Khushi) you tell me beta..."
As Shashi permitted her to tell her opinion, she said,
"What's there to wonder if he behaves odd, Babuji? He faced a terrible situation in his life. He would be like this... but his parents should not let him be like this..." She sipped the last sip.
"What do you want them to do?"
"They have to get him married...simple..."
Shashi was shocked. He didn't expect this kind of solution from Khushi.
"He is not ready to get married. In fact, he chided Ratnaji when she talked about it."
"Of course, he would have... he must be scared of his past, doesn't mean he meant to be unmarried because he needs someone wholly for himself. Then only he will see life from a different angle."
"Who will give their daughter's hand as a second wife?"
Before Khushi replied, Garima did.
"Why not? Arnav is a multimillionaire after all..."
"He was a multimillionaire when he married to Yasodha too...yet she betrayed him. Money is not at all matter here, Amma. He needs someone who understands not only him but also his past situation."
"But, who will understand him beta?"
"Why not Babuji? There are many good girls on earth. Find one for him."
"Telling is easy... but it's not easy practically."
"Maybe, it's not easy but not impossible."
"Haan... There are many Matrimony websites... Arnav will definitely get a suitable girl if they register in the Matrimony."
"Amma... how could they register in matrimony without exact details of Arnav? And how will they give the exact details of him?"
"Khushi is right... we can't give the true details of Arnav. it will hurt him."
"Of course, she is right. But... from when she started analyzing about Arnav's issue so deeply?" Garima asked her.
"No... I ...actually..." she stammered.
"She is grown-up girl Garima..." Shashi smiled.
Khushi nodded yes. Though Shashi took her side he was also wondering about her deep view on Arnav's matter.
As per Shashi's advice, Ratna and Arvind stopped talking about marriage. But as Arvind didn't expect, Arnav liked to join AR which made them relieved. Aman is there to cheer him up and Arnav will get out of the grief soon...they believed.

Uninvited Guest
Khushi's words about Arnav were echoing in Shashi's mind. He almost has forgotten that he is sitting at the cash counter of his sweet shop. He didn't know his daughter could have a positive attitude towards the very worst matter. He was dumbfounded, of course. Would any girl have forward-thinking about Arnav who killed his wife in anger? Shashi thought deeply.
