Chapter 1.1: A stranger (1)
Since the day crossing the ocean, Norway and Denmark had set foot on plenty of distant lands to meet new folks (in fact it should be called beating them up). Norway considered robbing, to some extent, enjoyable. Desires for whatever it was should be accompanied by getting it at all costs, as the strong was doubtlessly the winner over those small impotent countries which were totally powerless before him and his companion.
After several days of the journey, the two had gained quite an amount of property, mainly by robbing and trading (yes, not just bullying only). For how long had they been far from Scandinavia, no one remembered. The young voyagers only felt the overriding need to enjoy this familiar atmosphere of fatherland to the utmost, before making sail once again.
The pair put up a tent in the forest. Frigid, biting cold air penetrated their skin as wintry darkness gradually enveloped the night. Oddly, Norway could clearly sensed a mystical thing skulking over there, relentlessly surrounding them with suspicious dark energy. Yet it was way too hard to make out the thing's progress, as if someone had been there observing the boys.
"Norge, haven't you got hungry? I'll go and get some food." Denmark stood up, prepared for a hunt.
"Don't, it's too dangerous. What if something happens to you?" Norway gripped Denmark's arm.
"You imagine such things again. Me, Danmark or the ultimate Viking is certainly invincible. And also, we do need to eat."
AGRUUUUUUUUUUU......
The shrill howl made even the bravest have to back off with the impression of a whole pack of wolves advancing nearer, fearfully nearer...
"Danmark, we'd better hurry into our tent."
Eventually, the two accepted to tolerate the hunger, rather than going out to greet those dreadful wild animals. They fell asleep in a shared embrace, praying for the night to pass.
At midnight...
A bizarre sound awoke the children. Late at night like this... What could be roaming out there, perhaps the wolves? Nonsense, there was something really abnormal. Norway's perception told him that, it was only a stone's throw from them and getting worryingly stronger.
Denmark sensed that peculiar thing as well, the rustle at midnight was just like a deliberate tease. Norway seemed to have been a bundle of nerves already, he had to do something right now.
"Norge, stay here. I'll go out to check it."
"Don't! Don't get out, who knows what's waiting there?" Norway insisted.
"We can't turn a blind eye to that thing. Letting me go would be a wiser choice." Denmark did not back down in the slightest.
To be honest, Denmark was also frightened. Having said that, when casting an eye over Norway's color-drained face, he couldn't stay still. He was a Viking, and a Viking should have no faintest reluctance to fight and protect his family. Norway was not any different from his younger brother, Denmark would pay all costs to keep him safe.
"I'll go now, just back to sleep."
"No, don't go..." Norway held Denmark from behind, preventing him from any farther step.
Denmark managed to get out, but as being tightly gripped by Norway, he and the smaller one together stumbled.
"Come on Norge, let me go..."
Suddenly, the sight of a fish got into the two's eyes. The fish was hung onto a hook. Both looked up to see the face of the fish's owner, and under the golden, radiant moonlight, they saw...

ARRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
The ear-splitting scream of two children pierced through the forest night's silence.
