65 Confusion
Part 65 Confusion
Purna stood up with a horrified expression, seeing Aman's wrathful gaze whereas Khushi was dumbfounded by his gaze. She couldn't name it as just GAZE but GLARE. She looked at Purna who gulped hard.
Aman saw a file in Purna's hand. He extended his hand towards her. Understanding his gesture, she passed the file to him. Taking it from her hand, he kept it on the table and stood pressing his palms on the table bending down.
"I have almost finished the work assigned by you, sir"
Aman looked at her with a sharp gaze.
"I just have a doubt, sir... That's why I came here to get cleared, asking you the doubt" she said.
"But, my doubt got cleared," Aman said in a dry tone.
Purna looked at him awkwardly.
"You no need to get cleared about the project anymore..." he said sternly.
"Bu...t... Wh...y sir?" She stammered.
"Because you are not going to work in this office anymore" he stood up straight.
Purna was thunderstruck whereas Khushi was surprised.
"Sir..."
"About whom you were talking to on the phone?" Aman hit th question.
"She was my friend"
"I don't ask you, WITH whom you talked. I asked you, ABOUT whom... do you understand the difference?"
"None sir... I didn't talk about anyone"
"Then who said, 'we meet every day as we are working in the same office... Now also I saw him before coming to my CEO cabin... What if he is a married man???? He is capable to handle ten women... His wife doesn't know about our relationship... He doesn't want her to know... Very soon, I will be with him... I'm going to send our intimate photos to his wife... Then without choice, she had to run away from his life... After she runs, he has to come to me..."
Purna felt a shiver, hearing her sentences from Aman.
"you are mistaken, sir..."
"Me? Like really? Then clear my doubt..."
"I just talked with my friend randomly... it's not true..."
"But you said we meet every day as we are working in the same office?"
Purna looked down.
Turning on the mike, Aman spoke.
"Attention, please... I need all the married men to come to my cabin right now" he ordered the staff.
Purna widened her eyes shockingly. What Aman was trying to do? Did he insult her in front of the staff of AM Design?
"Sir, please, listen to me... please don't do this" she pleaded.
"What do you think? This is my company. I'm not running this to entertain such a cheap woman like you... What do you think of me? Will I let you make this as RED LIGHT AREA?" Aman sneered.
More than Purna, Khushi was shocked as she didn't expect that kind of outburst from Aman.
"Sir, you are insulting me..." Purna said gritting her teeth.
"You deserve it... You are a cheap woman who doesn't hesitate to break into someone's home. After doing such a nasty thing, do you want me to celebrate you?" Aman scoffed.
"This is my personal matter... I will talk whatever on phone. What's your problem?" she asked gutful.
"Personal matter my foot... It would be your matter until you keep it inside your house. When it entered MY (he stressed) office premises, it's completely my matter."
"I'm resigning the job"
"You no need to do that because I have already thrown you out..."
"Then I'm going"
"You can't go... Until you answer my question" he said wrathfully.
They saw all the married male staff getting in. He understood something must be wrong. Maybe, Purna would have got caught. He guessed. Purna's nervousness-filled facial expression said so. And Khushi looked relieved.
"Why did you call us Aman?" Arnav came forward and asked, looking at Khushi and Purna.
"I want to know something very important, ASR. I believe everyone should work with a peaceful mind then only they can give their full attention to the work they do... Am I right?"
"Yes..." everyone said in the same tone.
"To keep your mind peaceful, your family life should be happy and peaceful. Right?"
"Of course..." again they said.
"I never got the balance sheet tallying if my wife fought with me," the accountant said.
All the others laughed.
"Exactly, I got scolded by Aman last week, making a blunder mistake at home..." another one said.
"What blunder did you make at home?" the man next to him questioned.
"I kept my mobile phone unlocked and my wife saw that... That's all... I have gone" he said widening his eyes.
The hall got filled with laughter.
"I wonder how you are still alive" someone countered.
"Be careful, dude... There are police in every wife who can catch a thief hiding in her husband" someone said that making everyone laugh again.
"Aman, come to the point," Arnav said, as he understood the issue running in the cabin. That brought everyone's attention back to Aman.
"I want to know something important"
Everyone was waiting to know what Aman was talking about.
"Who are friends for Purna?" Aman asked running his eyes on them, reading their expression.
Everyone glimpsed at one another while mumbling with one another.
"Raise your hands" Aman ordered.
"I cleared her doubt once when she asked me but I'm not her friend," one said
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah..." Said the crowd.
"She is in a relationship with a married man who is working in our office. Who is he?" Aman asked.
Arnav looked at Khushi who was gazing at him.
"I'm not even getting time for my wife, yaar..." one said wearily.
"My wife will chase me out of the house if I do something like that, yaar," another one said in a feeble tone.
"Your wife is much better. My wife will kill me for sure..." another one said.
"Ok... You may go" Aman said.
All of them started dispersing, gossiping and discussing Purna's issue. They could not guess anything because she spoke with only Arnav and Akash. Akash is unmarried and everyone knew how Arnav was. So, they didn't doubt them.
Purna glared at Aman. She looked down when Arnav turned towards her.
"So... Purna..." Aman was about to say something,
She raised her head and tears rolled down her eyes.
"I never know you will insult me like this. You should have enquired me if you doubt me instead of insulting me in front of men. Do you know how much it is tough to live in this society without a man's help? How could I live peacefully from here on? These men are going to whistle when they see me... Ask Arnav Bhai about my family's condition. My mother is paralytically attacked. I joined the job only to earn for her medical expenses. I can't even think of anything like you are blaming me." She said emotionally spilling tears.
Aman stood getting awestruck, getting doubt on his own self.
"Khushi Didi... Please tell Aman, sir, about my mother. I don't feel sad about losing my job but he raised his finger toward my character. Have you ever seen me talking with any man? I even call your husband Bhai..."
"But you spoke to your friend about trapping someone's husband," Khushi asked without thinking of anything.
"She is my friend. We are planning for a stage program to help orphan children. Whenever we get time, we recite the dialogues of the drama, playfully because we both are working. We are not getting time to practice those dialogues spending time... that's why we check our dialogues through phone"
Aman shrank his eyes. Khushi looked at Arnav. It was visible o his face that he was repenting for doubting Purna. He trusted whatever Purna said it seems.
"I'm going... Thank you for everything but please tell your staff that I don't trap anyone. Not because it affects my future. It's because my mother will die if she hears cheap about my character" Purna said and left the cabin, crying.
Arnav and Aman were confused but Khushi. She could not trust Purna because her gestures did not seem true. She sensed Purna was a pretender.
Aman sat on the chair and tapped his forehead with his index finger, closing his eyes, thinking about the issue. Arnav left his cabin and Khushi sat on the chair again.
Arnav saw Purna leaving the office, taking her stuff. A man stopped her, blocking her way. In no time, Purna slapped him hard making everyone shocked. She left the place hurriedly.
Evening
Arnav and Khushi got back home. Arnav tried to be normal as he didn't want any problem between him and Khushi but Khushi was in some deep thought.
Arnav didn't let Khushi cook alone. He was helping her in the kitchen. She had dinner silently. Don't know why she didn't feel good even though Arnav didn't leave her side.
That's when Arnav got a call. He saw the name. The call was from Purna. Khushi also saw the name as the phone screen was visible to Khushi too.
"You attend the call, Khushi," Arnav said.
Khushi looked at him and gestured like,*You attend it...*
Arnav swiped the phone and turned on the speaker.
"Bhaiya..." Purna cried.
Arnav and Khushi looked at each other confusingly.
"Mom got fits, Bhaiya. I'm scared. I have called the ambulance but it's getting late. Fainted... I don't know what to do. Please help me. Please come to my home, Bhaiya..."
Arnav looked at Khushi who nodded a clear-cut NO.
To be continued...
