4 Job
Part 4 Job
Arnav came out to go to the nearby shop. Seeing Akshaya there, he again rushed inside and locked the door. Akshaya saw that and frowned. She came to his portion and knocked on the door. Arnav rolled his eyes. He didn't expect her to knock on the door. Without any choice, he opened the door and smiled at her.
"Why did you lock the door, seeing me?" she asked, pouting.
"I didn't see you. I forgot to take money. That's why I rushed..."
"Oh... that's it. How could you ignore me..." she smiled cheesily.
Arnav scratched his forehead.
"What did you decide?" she asked.
"About what?"
"About my proposal..."
"Didn't I say I want to talk to my mother about it?"
"Mmm... don't you call your mother?"
"She doesn't have a phone..."
"Oh... do you have?"
"Oh, yes..." he removed a basic model phone from his pocket and showed it.
"Don't you have a smartphone?" she asked, making a face.
"What do I do with a smartphone? While I have no time to earn, how could I spend time on it?"
Akshaya sighed and left. Arnav huffed in relief and came out to go to the shop again. He closed his eyes, seeing Khushi glaring at him. Why the hell did her house have a window facing his portion? He rushed to her and said,
"Trust me, madam, I locked the door, but she knocked on it and made me open it."
She said nothing but glared at him.
"Please try to understand. I'm new to this place. How could I go against her?"
"Will you go with her?" came from her like an arrow.
Arnav was stuck. He nodded no hurriedly. Khushi left the place. Arnav sighed and was supposed to leave the place. He saw a guy blocking Khushi's way. He was surprised to see that, like, who had the guts to stop his owner?
As he expected, Khushi extended her index finger towards him in a warning manner and went to her house. He saw Arnav looking at him. The guy saw Arnav gazing at him. He came to him.
"What are you looking at? Don't have any idea to get the girl..." he said.
"GET the girl? What do you mean?"
"She is a tough nut to crack. I've been trying for her since her father died. She is not giving me space. You, too, be in distance with her."
"Are you in love with her?"
"Then what? I'm in love with her."
"Why doesn't she like you?"
"Who said she doesn't like me?"
"She warned you... I saw that."
"She is like that..."
"But you said you are trying for her, but she is a tough nut to crack..."
"I said that for you... to warn you... she won't fall for anyone. Keep it in your mind. Don't waste your time. She is my girl."
"Who will fall for a taxi driver like me?" Arnav murmured.
"Yeah, you're a taxi driver. Don't forget that."
Arnav nodded ok.
"By the way, I'm Ganguraj"
"I'm Arnav... what are you doing?"
"Searching for a job..." Ganguraj left the place.
Arnav went to his house and was supposed to lock the door, but he stopped seeing Khushi.
"What did he ask you?" she asked.
"Who?"
"The one who talked to you..."
"You mean Ganguraj?"
Khushi rolled her eyes.
"Will you get all the details about everyone?"
"What to do,, madam? I'm new to this place. That's why I'm trying to get familiar with people here."
"Don't entertain him. Is that clear?"
"But why? You don't want me to entertain girls. That's justified. But Ganguraj is a man..."
"Listen... he will try to get details about me through you."
"I didn't get you... how could he get details about you through me when I myself don't know about you?" He said after getting her point.
"See, he is not a nice man..."
"Is loving you wrong?"
Khushi was stuck.
"How do you know? Did he tell you?" she gritted her teeth.
"Yes, he asked me to keep my distance for you."
"Bullshit... This is why I said don't entertain him."
"Mmm... ok, I won't entertain him."
Khushi left the place irritably.
The next day
Arnav, as usual, went to work and came back in the evening. He went to Khushi's portion and knocked on the door. Khushi opened the door and raised her brows.
"What?"
"That day you told Jithendarji that you are searching for a job..."
"So?"
"Today, I dropped a man in a company. He was talking on the phone about an recruiting for his company. If you are fine, apply for the job. I will bring details if you want..."
Khushi was stuck. She didn't know whether to take his help or not. Seeing her thinking,
"Decide and say..." he left.
Khushi stood thinking about the job. She took the whole night to decide.
Arnav was going to collect the details about the job. That was all he was going to do. She was the one who would apply for it. She needed a job. It was too hard to run a family with a fever amount. She needed to save money for her marriage. She had no one for her. She had to do that for herself. She couldn't say no to the job. She should grab the opportunity.
The next day
Arnav wiped his car, as usual. He sensed someone behind him. He turned around and saw Khushi.
"Could you bring details about the job?" she asked.
Arnav nodded.
"Thanks." She left the place.
Arnav left for work.
After three hours, Khushi heard a knock on the door. She opened the door and saw Arnav standing.
"This is the details you asked for."
Khushi read it.
"Today is the last day to apply." She spoke.
Arnav nodded yes.
"That's why I came running."
"Thanks..."
"Do it quickly..."
"Mmm... thanks for the initiative..."
"I'm a little selfish here..." he said.
"Selfish? How?"
"The company is on the way to my office."
"Oh... so?"
"Won't you pay me if I drop you every day?"
Khushi kept her hands on her hips and looked at him, frowning.
"My rent amount will decrease..."
"Is this why you are so interested?"
He nodded, grinning.
"How much do you expect me to pay for you?"
"Three thousand..."
"Whaaaat?"
"Two thousand?"
"I will go by bus..." she said.
"No... no... at least a thousand?" he demanded.
Khushi thought for a while and said,
"We should not count the eggs before hatching... let me get the job first..." She said.
"Mmm...I thought I can save thousand..." he walked, murmuring. He thought something and looked at her, turning his head. He was dumbfounded to see her smiling.
He was mesmerised by her smile. He felt it was so pleasant. He came to her and said,
"May I tell you something?"
"What?"
"I will reduce a hundred rupees from the thousand..."
Khushi frowned.
"Why?"
"For your smile... keep smiling..." he ran from there.
Khushi stood smiling at him.
To be continued...
