Chapter 4
It had been three months since Natsha had set foot in Ramia. Every day of hers passed in a maddening repetition. Training and more training.
This film project had received a tremendous amount of investment. Therefore, the amount of effort the actors had to put in was no small matter either. She had to learn everything from how to hold a gun properly to how to deliver a strike that looked good on camera while still carrying enough force.
The dopamine levels in her body would eventually fall after being elevated for a period of time. It was precisely when the dopamine in her body dropped that Natsha felt the exhaustion after a long day.
She slung her bag over her shoulder. The sweat that had only recently dried still clung sticky to her body, making Natsha somewhat uncomfortable.
She opened the door to her small room. The production team and the investors were well aware that the security situation in Ramia at this time was truly unstable. Therefore, the place where they were staying had a fairly strong security team.
The moment Natsha returned to her room, she rushed into the bathroom. She needed to wash herself immediately.
The bathroom door opened. The weather in Ramia was already hot and humid enough, so Natsha had no choice but to shower with cool water if she did not want to drown in the heat.
She changed into a comfortable outfit.
Knock, knock, knock!
The sound of knocking came from the door. Natsha frowned in surprise, her gaze shifting toward the clock mounted on the wall.
It was already past ten at night. Why would someone come knocking on her door at this hour?
Natsha walked toward the dark-brown wooden door. She narrowed her eyes and looked through the peephole. The figure of a woman appeared before her.
Natsha thought for a moment before finally opening the door.
"Sister Laurel." Natsha lowered her head slightly as a greeting.
Standing before her was the female Alpha lead of this project, Laurel Schanise.
"Oh, I'm so sorry." Laurel smiled openly. Her amber eyes glittered beneath the yellow lights, while her Western features possessed both softness and sharpness, creating harmonious yet unusually striking facial features. "Would it bother you if I knocked on your door this late?"
The moment the question was spoken, the answer had practically already been determined.
And, of course, there could only be one answer.
Natsha politely lifted the corners of her lips.
"Certainly not."
"You haven't had dinner yet, have you?" Laurel asked, but before giving her a chance to answer, she continued. "Would you like to have dinner with me?"
It was a very straightforward invitation, without the slightest bit of beating around the bush.
Refusing would have been rather awkward. Besides, Natsha had not had dinner either. Since such an invitation had been made, there was no particular reason for her to refuse.
Laurel observed Natsha's expression, eighty percent certain that she would accept her invitation.
"Could you step back a little?" Natsha lifted her eyes, her dark-brown gaze meeting Laurel's amber eyes directly.
Laurel raised her brows in surprise. Had she guessed wrong?
There was something in Natsha's gaze that Laurel could not quite understand. Yet, even through the haze in her mind, she instinctively stepped backward a few steps.
Only after seeing Laurel follow her request and move backward did Natsha step across the threshold of her room.
The door closed behind her as she pulled it shut.
Click!
The sound of the lock falling completely into place brought Laurel out of the white haze clouding her mind.
Before her were Natsha's dark-brown eyes.
Natsha raised a hand in an inviting gesture. Laurel smiled and walked ahead. Natsha followed behind, yet the two of them remained perfectly side by side as they walked.
Through the corner of her eye, Laurel could faintly observe the woman beside her.
Laurel was a dominant Alpha.
But that instinctive sensation from moments ago... what exactly had it been?
She had followed the command almost as though it were some primitive instinct.
Weren't they both Alphas?
A question mark was left hanging, but the answer had yet to be found.

The hotel lobby was not particularly crowded. Natsha and Laurel sat at a table in the open-air section.
The night breeze came over, soothing the oppressive heat of the day. Laurel's blonde hair fluttered in the wind, creating a beautiful scene that was difficult to look away from.
Since it was already late at night, neither of them ordered anything particularly heavy. Their two portions of food were quickly finished. After all, it had been quite a long time since lunch.
Natsha gazed toward the pitch-black night, the gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore beside her ears. The scent of the sea breeze filled her lungs.
Natsha felt somewhat at ease.
Her light-brown hair was neatly tied back, while the loose strands framing her face seemed to sway along with the breeze, as though dancing to its own melody.
In Laurel's homeland, people with naturally blue eyes and red hair had become a familiar sight.
Natsha's features appeared soft at first glance, yet upon closer observation, there seemed to be a layer of finely sharpened blades hidden beneath them. Laurel could not help but be drawn to her.
She rested one hand against her chin, openly admiring the woman before her without the slightest hesitation.
"Has anyone ever told you that you're very beautiful, Natsha?"
Laurel's warm, deep voice rang out.
Westerners really were open with their emotions, weren't they?
Natsha did not turn her head. Her gaze remained fixed on the dark expanse of sea before her.
"I think you should use the word 'pretty' instead of 'beautiful.'"
Laurel was surprised when Natsha suddenly spoke in a different foreign language.
"You know Loft?" Laurel replied in the foreign language known as "Loft."
"Just a little." Natsha answered indifferently. She took a sip of the cold tea in her hand.
"Just a little?" Laurel clearly did not believe Natsha's words. "How do you sound any different from a native speaker?"
Natsha did not refute her.
"I think you should speak Loft more often."
The corners of Laurel's lips curved meaningfully.
"Oh? Why is that?"
Natsha simply added a few words to the conversation. Otherwise, it would be no different from Laurel talking to herself.
"Because your voice is more seductive when you speak Loft." That was Laurel. Perhaps she had never stopped being so straightforward about her thoughts.
Natsha finally lifted her eyes toward Laurel. Under the moonlight, Laurel's amber eyes looked like shining jewels.
"Then I suppose I should take that as a compliment." Natsha said.
"It really is a compliment!" Laurel leaned closer, narrowing the distance between them to within a safe range, yet placing them directly on the boundary between ambiguity and innocence.
"And why should I use the word 'pretty' instead of 'beautiful' for you?" Laurel still remembered the point she had been trying to reach all along.
"Haven't you only seen my appearance so far?" Natsha spoke, almost as though whispering.
The distance between pretty and beautiful was truly vast...
"If you're talking about what's inside..." Laurel tapped her fingers lightly against her right cheek. "... I think my judgment isn't too bad either. And I trust you too, Natsha."
A declaration clear enough, yet strangely lacking in certainty.
Natsha did not answer.
The beautiful scenery surrounding the two women coincidentally aligned with and reflected itself within the eyes of another person.
