Epilogue

Arnav, Khushi, and Sagar came into the routine to an extent, the trio never imagined. Their life started moving so smoothly. Sagar's friends visited their home often not only to get their doubts cleared by Sagar but also to meet Arnav and Khushi. Apart from Sagar's friendship, his friends had a good bonding with Arnav and Khushi. They even created a WhatsApp group in which Arnav and Khushi were admins. They were the only parent who took place in the youngster's group. It didn't mean they appreciated all the actions of the boys. Though Arnav and Khushi were friendly with boys they acted within their limits. Their respect for Arnav and Khushi was was raised every day. Sagar's classmates showed interest to be a part of Arnav and Khushi's group.

One day,

Arnav got a call from Veer Singh's ( he was a military officer who died in a bomb blast) daughter. He attended it.

"Pinky speaking, uncle"

"Hello beta, how are you and Dadi?"

"I'm fine but Dadi"

"What happened to her? Is anything serious?"

"Yes, uncle. She is ill for three days"

"Why didn't you call me before itself?"

"I thought she would be alright"

"Ok... I'm coming"

"Thank you, uncle"

Arnav disconnected the call and looked at Khushi and Sagar who were looking at him to know the matter.

"What happened Arnav?"

"Didn't Kiran madam say about Veer Singh?"

"Yeah..."

"His mother's condition is serious it seems"

"Oh God... You said they have no one"

"Yes, she is the one who is taking care of Veer Singh's daughter after his death."

"What will the girl do after her Dadi?"

Arnav shook his head from left to right thoughtfully.

"I'm going to meet them. Will you come with me?" Arnav asked.

"Of course... I will"

"I will also come with you," Sagar said as it was the weekend.

"Ok, then take two sets of dresses. We don't know what's the situation there"

Khushi and Sagar nodded ok and got ready. Arnav started the car and Khushi occupied the passenger seat whereas Sagar took the back seat. They reached Veer Singh's house after an hour's ride. Arnav rang the calling bell and Pinky opened the door. She smiled seeing Arnav.

"How is Dadi?" Arnav asked.

"She is not fine uncle," Pinky said sadly.

"She is Khushi, my wife and he is Sagar, my son" Arnav introduced them to Pinky.

"Namaste aunty, namaste Bhaiya" Pinky greeted them.

"Shall we see Dadi?" Arnav asked.

"The doctor is checking her"

"Oh..."

Khushi and Sagar ran their eyes in the room. Sagar saw a few beautiful drawings being kept on the table. He took them in his hands.

"Wow, amazing... who drew them?" Sagar asked.

"Me," Pinky said with a slight blush.

"You have a super talent, Pinky"

She smiled.

"I'm telling truth... Trust me... When I was in the tenth standard, I drew an eagle but my teacher didn't agree to it" Sagar said.

"Why?" Pinky asked.

"It would have looked like a crow. Am I right?" Arnav laughed.

"It would have been better if it had looked like a crow... But it looked like a grasshopper" Sagar said controlling his smile.

The other trio laughed out louder.

"What an artist you are, my son!" Arnav said in between his laughter.

They saw the doctor coming out.

"How is she, doctor?" Arnav asked.

"She is so weak..." He brought Arnav a little away from them.

"Honestly speaking... She is hopeless."

"Can't we do anything, doctor?"

"Unfortunately, no...due to her age factor. She is a diabetic... Her BP is severely high. We can do nothing. She is counting her last minutes"

Arnav gulped down hard, looking at Pinky who was talking with Sagar smiling. Sending the doctor off, Arnav came back to Pinky.

"Shall we meet Dadi?" Arnav asked.

Pinky nodded ok and took them to her grandmother's room. They saw an old woman lying on the bed who looked extremely weak. She smiled at Arnav that smile also was weak but there was a relief on her face. Arnav came and sat next to her. She clutched Arnav's hand.

"Thank God, I have seen you before anything happened to me"

"Nothing will happen to you, Maaji"

She nodded no.

"I lost my hope... I know I'm at the END"

"Don't say like that, Maaji"

"Please do something for Pinky's future. That's all that I want... I don't know what she is going to do after my death" she spilled tears.

Arnav and Khushi spared a content glance. Before they say anything,

"You don't worry, Dadiji. We will take care of Pinky" Sagar said.

Arnav and Khushi smiled at him. Dadi looked at Arnav.

"If Pinky has no problem, she can be with us," Khushi said.

Arnav looked at Pinky.

"Will you come with us to our home?"

Pinky nodded ok readily.

"Now, leave all your stress and be cool, Maaji. We are here for Pinky. She will be happy and safe with us...at our home"

Dadi thanked them, joining her hands.

"We will stay here until you feel better," Khushi said.

"Are you going to be here?" Pinky asked joyfully.

Arnav nodded yes.

But they didn't get to stay there for long as Pinky's Dadi passed away the next day. Arnav and Khushi brought Pinky to their house as they promised. Though Pinky was in grief at her Dadi's demise she got out of the grief fast because of Arnav's family. Pinky started getting attached to them quicker than Arnav expected. Very soon she became one among them.

"Dad, the Christmas holidays are coming. What about the trip you were planning?" Sagar asked.

"Ask your mother whether she is available," Arnav said.

"I'm ready... My school will be closed for a few data due to winter"

"My school also leave," Pinky said.

"Ok, then, I will submit my leave application in my office tomorrow," Arnav said.

"Where are we going, Mom?" Pinky asked.

She started calling Arnav and Khushi Mom and Dad.

"It's suspense" Arnav smiled.

Sagar looked at Khushi who shrugged her shoulders like I don't know.

"Ask Madhav to get ready," Arnav said.

"Ok, Dad... But, what could I answer if he asked me about the destination?"

"Tell him the same" Arnav smirked.

Except for Arnav, others had no idea where they were going to go until they reached the airport to board the DIU flight.

"Diu?" Khushi asked.

Arnav nodded yes.

"Did you go to Diu ever before?" Sagar asked.

"Nope... But my batchmate keep on calling me to Diu from the time we came out of service"

"Are we going to stay at his place?"

"No... I don't want to trouble him but we will surely visit his place"

They boarded the flight. Arnav took place next to Khushi.

"Is there any reason for this Diu trip?" Khushi asked.

"Haven't you understood it yet?" Arnav asked.

Khushi frowned.

"Beach...?" She asked.

Arnav nodded yes with a lopsided smile.

"You wanted to walk on the shore with me...hand in hand..."

Khushi blinked her eyes with a mild smile. She leaned on his shoulder. Arnav rested his cheek on her head slightly.

They reached Diu. To their surprise, Arnav's friend Xavier waited for them at the airport.

"What the..." Arnav uttered, seeing him.

"Hi, Batchi... ( Military men call their batchmates like that)" Xavier hugged Arnav.

"Didn't I say about my friend? He is the one" Arnav said.

"Namaste Bhabi," Xavier said.

"Namaste..." Khushi smiled.

"He suffered a lot getting separated from you, Bhabi. Our whole battalion cried hearing your story. This man is always our hero" Xavier said.

Arnav rolled his eyes.

"What are you doing here?"

"I heard my batchi is coming to Diu with his family. I'm here to kidnap them" Xavier said with a serious expression.

"Listen, Xavi..."

"Nothing doing... You are going to stay at my place and that's final" snatching the bag from Arnav he walked.

Arnav sighed as he didn't have an option other than flowing him.

"How did he know about our visit?" Khushi asked.

"I inquired about Diu with him but didn't tell him about our visit. Don't know how he got to know"

"My wife's brother is working in the airport only. I gave all your details to him and asked him to check" Xavier winked.

"Crazy guy"

"Won't you invite me to your home if I come to Delhi?" Xavier asked.

"Not like that year... I just..."

"Shut up and come"

Xavier's family welcomed Arnav's family wholeheartedly and treated them like one among them. It was an amazing experience not only for Arnav but also for everyone.

Xavier took them to Ghogla Beach the next day along with his family.

They played volleyball on the beach. Khushi and Mrs. Xavier also joined them sometimes. After enjoying the beach trip a lot, all of them sat on the sand to get relaxed.

"Khushi... Let's go" Arnav called her.

Khushi nodded yes and stood up.

"Guys, we will be back," Arnav said.

"Go on, Dad," Sagar said.

Arnav walked with Khushi on the beach letting the waves drench their feet.

"Is not Xavier Bhai's family so nice?" Khushi asked.

"Yeah... That guy made our trip awesome. We would not have enjoyed it to this extent if he had not joined us"

"It's true...( she paused fur a while) Finally, my dream came true"

"Not yet..."Arnav said.

Khushi looked at him raising his brows. Arnav entwined his fingers with hers.

"Now, it came true," he said smiling.

Khushi circled his bicep with her right hand.

"Our one more wish also fulfilled," Khushi said.

"Which one?"

"Adopting a girl child..."

"Yeah... Pinky..."

"She is a nice girl. Sagar and she make a good team"

"Sagar will make a good team with anyone... He is a MALE Mother Theresa" Arnav chuckled.

Khushi leaned into him laughing. They walked aimlessly...after attaining all their aims.
