38 Decision
Part 38 Decision
Arnav's outburst took Khushi aback.
"What happened to you, Khushi? You were not like this before the declaration. You did everything as I wished. Don't you trust me?"
"I did everything as you wished before the declaration because you were a commoner. You can do whatever you want, but your status has changed..."
Cutting her,
"Yes, my status has changed... I obeyed then, but now I'm in the ordering state. So, no one could order me or force me anymore. Don't forget one thing, I'm capable of doing anything now. So, be daring. You are going to be the Queen of this palace. You will also be in the ordering state soon."
"Me?"
"Then what? Did you forget what the mystic said? You will become the Queen of this Palace..."
"He might have said that but bringing it to an action is difficult. You have to cross many hurdles to make it possible."
"I will even swim in the fire pond to make it possible, and for your kind information, I don't have to do it. If it is destined, it will happen no matter how many hurdles are created..."
Khushi was silent.
"I'm going to ask my father to declare our wedding. I think you will be brave after that."
Khushi was bewildered. Would her wedding be declared? Would Arvind do that?
Arnav left the place. They had no idea Madhavi heard their talks. She was horrified. What would she do if Arvind declared their wedding? Would Khushi become a Queen? She was furious like hell. Would she obey the maid's orders? Bullshit...! Before Arvind made any stupid move, she had to prove how Khushi was unworthy of it. Otherwise, she would not have become the heir of the Palace. She became tense. She had to prove a low-class girl would never become a Queen. She started thinking about it. She planned something to pull Khushi down.
In the meantime, Arnav searched for Arvind but didn't find him in his room. Ratna, who saw him, rushed to him and hugged him.
"Why don't you come to meet me?" She asked.
"I was busy with temple work" Arnav smiled.
"Go, anytime temple temple temple... I don't like it"
"Why? Won't you worship God?"
"Why should I worship God who never gives me what I want?" She said furiously.
"What did you ask for?"
"I asked for a child... but he didn't give it to me" She sniffed.
"Am I not your son?" Arnav asked.
Ratna stopped looking at him and smiled.
"Yes... aren't you my son? How did I forget it?"
Arnav smiled.
"It's because of you"
"Me? What I did?"
"You don't look after me. If you were my son, you would have cared for me..."
"I don't take care of you, it doesn't mean I'm not caring about you"
"Do you care about me?"
"Mmm..."
"That means, will you help me?"
"What help do you want?"
"Do you know Madhavi?"
Arnav nodded.
"She is forcing me to have a medicine that tastes so bitter. Yukkk... I don't like it. Will you tell her not to give it to me?"
"It's good for your health. You will be all right if you have it"
"What happened to me? I'm already all right"
"Yeah, you are all right. If you have the medicine, you can go out of this Palace just like others do"
"Is it?"
"Yes..."
"Then you give me the medicine"
Arnav was stuck. How could he ask Madhavi about it? She was an irritating girl who suddenly became clingy, but he had no choice. He had to do it for an innocent woman. So, he nodded thoughtfully.
"I will bring you something..."
"Will you come surely?"
"Surely..."
"I will be waiting for you"
"Ok..."
Arnav came out searching for Arvind. He saw the servant crossing by.
"Listen..."
"Yes, your highness?"
"Where is Appa?"
"He went to Kali Temple"
"For what?"
The servant nodded no.
"Ok..." Arnav headed to the Kali temple by foot.
People looked at him awestruck and wished him. He accepted their respect with a slight nod. He saw Arvind discussing renovating the collapsed gazebo with Pasupathi. He smiled at Arnav and Papupathi greeted him,
"Welcome your highness"
"Hey, just cut off the highness and all. Call me Arnav"
"No no... people will mock at you. You are a prince after all."
"Respect should be gained with our behaviour. I won't lose my respect just because my friend called me by my name."
Pasupathi was speechless, hearing Arnav addressing him as his friend.
"Arnav, anything important?" Arvind asked.
"Mmm... we will talk later. Finish your discussion"
Arvind nodded and continued discussing with Pasupathi. Arnav stood, listening to them. That was when he saw the undertaker going behind the temple with someone. He could not see the other person. He thought he might be Gorakhar. So, he ran towards them. When he saw the undertaker, he was alone. He sighed.
"Greetings your highness..." he greeted him in the local language.
"Where is the one with you?"
"He just left" he said.
"Which direction he went?"
"Towards East"
"East? But I came from the east only"
"You would not have seen him"
Arnav understood. Gorakhar didn't want to meet him, and he was disappointed.
"Why are you searching for him?" The undertaker asked.
"I want to talk to him..."
"He said, he will meet you when it's needed"
"Did he say t hat?"
"Yes, he said he would not meet you after the revelation but didn't say UNTIL then. Right?"
Arnav wondered. That meant Gorakhar would meet him if needed.
"Did he say that too?"
"Yes... and he said one more thing too"
"What?"
"He said that just because you can't meet him doesn't mean he is not with you. He said he will be there for you."
Arnav felt blissful. In no time, he hugged the undertaker happily, making him embarrassed.
"Your highness, what have you done? How could you hug me? After all, I'm an undertaker..." He said awkwardly.
"So what if you are an undertaker? You are also a human being. This society includes all kinds of people. It needs your contribution too. If you are not there to burn dead bodies, we should take over your job, and we will also become undertakers. So, there is no difference between us."
"You are talking BIG things but I can't understand them."
"If you meet HIM again, who I searched for, ask him. he will explain to you"
"Will do it your highness..."
The undertaker saw an anthill. He removed a paper pocket from his hip belt and kept a powder substance in the anthill.
"What are you doing?"
"It's a mixture of peanut and sugar powder"
"Why did you keep it there?"
"The one who you searched for asked me to do it"
"Why?"
"He said, WE will donate food to others to eliminate our KARMA. Food donation is the only way to wipe out our sins, but I'm not a rich man who could afford food for humans. So, I'm giving food to ants."
Arnav nodded thoughtfully.
"You too donate food to wipe your sins..." The undertaker said smiling.
Arnav raised his brows.
"I'm leaving, your highness..."
"Wait..."
The undertaker looked at him.
"What's your income?"
"The king gives me something when he meets me... otherwise, I would get paid only if anyone dies"
"Come with me..."
"Where?"
"Come" clutching his hand, he pulled him to the Kali temple.
Arvind and Papupathi were struck to see him dragging the undertaker.
"What happened, KASI?" Arvind asked.
"Nothing your highness. I don't know why Prince is dragging me," The undertaker said.
"What's the matter, Arnav?"
"Fix a salary for him..."
Arvind looked at Kasi.
"He didn't ask me anything. it's me who wants to do it for him," Arnav said.
Arvind nodded.
"From this month, you will get a salary of five thousand. It will reach you day one of every month." Arvind said.
"The king and the Prince live long..." he said, joining his hands, and moved away.
Arvind looked at Arnav.
"He gets paid only when a death occurs, right?"
Arvind nodded.
"He is a good hearted man with good thoughts. We should not make him expect people to die for his survival," Arnav said.
Arvind was struck. Pasupathi smiled, understanding the meaning. If he started starving, he might wish for people to die so that he would get paid.
"Pasupathi, come to the Palace in the evening," Arvind said.
He nodded.
"Let's go, Arnav"
Arvind was supposed to get into the car, but stopped hearing,
"I want to talk to you" from Arnav.
"Tell me Arnav"
Arnav looked at the driver and gestured for Arnav something.
Arvind closed the car door and took him to the nearby tree's shadow.
"Tell me, Arnav"
"I want to marry Khushi... as soon as possible" Arnav said.
Arvind was stuck for a few seconds and nodded.
"Could you declare it authentically?"
"Sure... I will do that... but please let me do it on an auspicious day. I don't know if you believe such things, but I want it to happen properly because you are my only son. I hope you understand..."
Arnav nodded.
To be continued...
