Part 57 Arnav's Stand

Arnav advanced Khushi, all smiling. She smiled mildly.

"What are you doing here at this hour? You usually come to the temple in the morning or evening...!" he asked.

"Feel like coming to the temple... that's why I came... what did Sathya Narayana uncle say?"

"He was glad to know about Ratna ma'am's recovery. He asked about the handwriting in the letter too, but as Ratna madam recovered, he left the matter."

"Why?"

"He would not have felt it would be worth doing that..."

"Or, he might be embarrassed..."

"Maybe..."

"What do you think, Arnav sir? Doesn't it worth doing?"

"I don't think so, Khushi. Revealing the Murthy brothers' cunningness became a must now. Ratna Madam should know about her brothers"

"How will you make her trust you over her brothers? Do you think you can do it?"

"Why not? They are indeed cunning. Then it will not be hard for me to prove it because it's true. Truth can take time, but it will... definitely come out..."

"You may not feel like revealing them to Ratna aunty..." Khushi said intentionally.

"What do you mean?" Arnav frowned.

"You may think of their right side, leaving their cunningness behind..."

"Whaaaat? Do you think I will think of their rightness, leaving their cunningness behind? What made you think so, Khushi?" he asked, heating up.

"Arnav sir, anything can be changed... so is your stand..."

"My stand will never change. Don't I know how dangerous they are? How could I compromise myself in their matter?" he asked angrily.

Khushi was silent.

"By the way, why did you suddenly doubt my stand?"

"Ratna aunty recovered. You may think not to hurt her"

"Of course, I don't want to hurt her. She is my mother from a previous birth. I had hurt her a lot then. I don't want to do it in this birth, at least. It doesn't mean I will tolerate her stupid brothers. Even Appa doesn't like them. He regrets bringing them to the Palace"

"Poor him..." Khushi sighed, and Arnav looked at her oddly.

"Poor? What happened to you, Khushi? He is happy as Ratna Madam has regained her memory. Don't you know?"

"I wish he would not regret it, " she thought.

"What are you talking about? Why will he regret her recovery?"

"Go to the palace. Uncle might have been waiting for you"

Arnav rolled his eyes.

"Aren't you coming?"

Khushi nodded no.

"But why?"

"Let me be here for a while. I will come later"

"I will also be with you"

"No, Arnav sir. Ratna aunty doesn't know about our relationship. She may think differently, seeing us together"

"If there is a chance for her to think so, she should know about our relationship. Isn't it a must for her to know?"

"What if she doesn't accept our relationship?"

Arnav was stuck.

"Why do you think so?"

"Just asking"

"I respect her. I don't want to hurt her. only if she doesn't hurt her..."

"She is your mother from the previous birth..."

"Of course, that's why I don't want to hurt her. Amruta Mom separated you from me and Ratna Mom. She suffered hardship in this life for that sin. She is my mother, yet I avoided talking to her. If that was the condition for my OWN mother, what will be Ratna madam's condition?" he said with attitude.

If he expected Khushi to panic, he was disappointed. Khushi smirked. That made him confused.

"Do you think I will not do it?"

"Let's see when it happens"

Arnav shrank his face.

"Let's go to the Palace"

"Please, Arnav sir..."

"Khushi, stop calling me SIR... and start calling my name"

Khushi was silent.

"I said something"

She smiled.

"What's wrong with you, man? Why are you behaving strangely?" Arnav annoyed.

"Let's fix our wedding... after that, I will not call you SIR"

"Of course, our wedding will fix. What doubt in that?"

"Fix it first", Khushi smiled.

Arnav shrank his eyes. He sensed something was wrong. he walked towards his car and geared it up. He didn't feel anything was right. Was he going to face something terrible? He drove towards the Palace.

When Arnav reached the palace, he saw Arvind standing at the doorstep. It seemed he was waiting for someone. He smiled at Arnav.

"What are you doing here, Appa?"

"I called the Palace doctor here"

"Did he come back?"

"Yes..."

That was when the doctor came to the Palace with his assistant.

"Vanakam (Namaste)" he greeted Arvind.

"Vanakam..."

"The Palace servant said you want to meet me"

"Yes, Ratna regained her memory", Arvind said delightedly.

The doctor looked at his assistant with confusion.

"Is it? But, he said she stopped the medicine because of an allergy"

"That's what surprised me too... We stopped giving her medicine. Yet, she recovered. How did it happen?" Arvind intentionally asked. He didn't want anyone to know about the Navabashana Linga.

"I think what she ate reversed..." The doctor said in a low tone.

He knew the Murthy brothers made Ratna eat non-vegetarian food. He too didn't realise how Ratna recovered. It was impossible to recover after having non-vegetarian food while on medication. He didn't know how the miracle happened.

"Is there any chance for that to happen?" Arvind asked as if he was surprised.

"Sometimes, it happens... It's a medical miracle"

Arvind and Arnav smiled at each other contentedly.

The doctor took their leave with his assistant. They came out of the Palace.

"What's this, Ravi? How did this happen?" the doctor asked his assistant.

"I don't know, sir. The Murthy brothers didn't want the Queen to be recovered. They even gave her non-vegetarian. I don't know how she recovered"

The doctor walked thoughtfully.

In the meantime,

"Appa, I want to talk to you"

"Tell me, Arnav"

"I want you to talk to Ratna Madam about my wedding"

"Sure... will do it"

"Now"

"Mmm... ok"

Arvind walked to his room. Ratna was not there. He thought something and headed to the kitchen. He stopped, seeing her sitting at the dining table. He smiled at her.

"Where were you? I finished cooking and am waiting for you"

He came and sat beside her.

"Where is Arnav?" Ratna looked for him.

"He will come. Before that, I want to talk to you about his marriage"

"Shhhh... you don't have to talk to me about it", Ratna said. Arvind was taken aback.

"Why?" He frowned.

"I will talk to Arnav about it, " she smiled.

"Oh... why so?" He raised his brows.

"It's a matter between me and my son. That's why"

"Oh... that's great...you and your son..."

Arvind took his mobile and called Arnav. He attended it.

"Come to the dining room. Ratna is waiting for you."

"Did you talk to her about my wedding?"

"No, she wants you to talk to her."

"Me?"

"Yeah, she said, it's a matter between her and her son"

Arnav smiled.

"Coming", he disconnected the call and headed to the dining room.

The Murthy brothers, who were watching them, followed him without making noise.

Arnav smiled at Ratna.

"Come on, Arnav. Sit and have lunch with Appa. I cooked it for you," Ratna said.

Arnav sat beside Arvind.

"Wow, Ratna, you are one in a lakh. How sweetly you treat Arnav as your son," Savithri said.

Arnav looked at Arvind, who was stuck.

"He is my son indeed", Ratna said and served him food.

"That's what I'm saying. Who would accept her husband's son as hers? You are so generous, Ratna"

Arnav stood up. Ratna looked at him.

"I will eat later", Arnav said and walked off.

"What I said that he became angry?"

"Why did you repeatedly say he is not my son?" Ratna asked, disappointed.

"I said the truth only..."

"No need... not all the truth is sweet. I don't like it," Ratna said.

Savithri looked at Chandra Murthy contentedly.

"She just..." he tried to say something, but Ratna stopped him.

"No one would tolerate hearing as if I did a big favour by accepting him as my son."

"Didn't you?"

"No... because it's me who wants a child. He already has a mother. He doesn't need to accept me as his mother. It would be hard for him to think I'm staying at his mother's place, but you guys are exaggerating as if I did a big favour"

Arvind silently listened to them. Ratna went to Arnav's room and saw Arnav standing near a window.

"May I come in?" She asked.

Arnav looked at her and intentionally said,

"Please, come in, MADAM"

Ratna was stuck, hearing him calling her MADAM.

To be continued...
