56 Decision
Part 56 Decision
"I don't want to beat around the bush. Let me come to the point. I want to get my daughter married to your son, Arnav," Chandra Murthy said, shocking Khushi.
Madhavi looked at Khushi from the corner of her eyes and saw shock on her face. Khushi would be shocked because they discussed Arnav's wedding with another girl. He had become her life, and these people were trying to snatch him from her. She was restless. Her heart raced like hell.
Something sparkled in Khushi's mind. Why did they talk to Ratna so openly about the proposal before her? Didn't they know Arnav loved her? Then why were they particularly doing this? Were they expecting her to create a scene over this issue? Were they thinking of making it an issue using that?
Suddenly, her face became calm. Why should she bother about them when Arnav was there for her? This was not her problem but his. He had to tackle them. He was the one who wanted her in his life. If he really wanted her in his life, he should handle them. She wanted to see what he would do.
Madhavi was confused, seeing her face calm down. What happened to her? She thought Khushi would shout at them. Yes, Khushi wanted to yell at them, but Madhavi didn't know. Khushi concluded that it was a matter of trust.
Khushi saw hesitation on Ratna's face.
"How could I decide that? You should talk to my husband instead of me because he is his father," Ratna asked with the same hesitation. Khushi sighed in relief.
"What are you saying, Ratna? Didn't you see how respectful Arnav is towards you?" Savithri asked.
"He will agree to marry Madhavi if you want it to happen", Chandra Murthy said.
"Yes, aunty, Arnav will not deny you", Madhavi said, surprising Ratna. Did Madhavi like Arnav?
"Madhavi likes Arnav so much. After all, she has the right in him," Savithri said.
"Yes, Ratna. If he respects you and considers you his mother, he will agree to this marriage," Chandra Murthy said.
Ratna became thoughtful, and Khushi was horrified. How brilliantly these people were moving their cards! From now on, Ratna would use emotional blackmail on Arvind. Arnav would have no choice but to accept the proposal. Even though he didn't take the proposal, it would not cause them a loss. In fact, they knew Arnav would not agree to the marriage. If he didn't, Ratna would be disappointed in Arnav, and she would not be easy with him after that. What a critical condition this was! Now Khushi became tense, not for herself but for Arnav. She didn't know how he would tackle this crucial situation.
"I will talk to Arvind", Ratna said.
"No, no... don't talk to Mama. Arnav will think you are cornering him. Ask him directly and get his acceptance. It will make him satisfied with you," Chandra Murthy said.
"But, I just recovered. Just because he talked to me smoothly, how could I decide his future? It's his life. How could I decide it?"
"Ratna, he is a common man who has now become a Prince. Just think: You don't need to accept him as your son, but you did. It's your generosity. Being a prince, he should recognise it. Who would take another's son? You did, Ratna. We are even ready to give my daughter's hand. How big the honour is! Ask him to marry Madhavi if he really respects you"
Ratna nodded. It seemed Ratna was convinced.
"You are right. I accepted him. For that, he should do something in return," Ratna said, shocking Khushi.
Khushi didn't expect that from Ratna. She thought Ratna would be neutral, but she disappointed her.
"I will talk to Arnav, but not immediately. I will talk to him at the right time."
"Don't take much time, Ratna. Someone could change his mind," Chandra Murthy said, looking at Khushi. She saw Madhavi smirking at her.
"He is a Prince... going to be the King. He should marry a Princess indeed," Ratna added. That delighted them like ever before.
Khushi's eyes tear up. She didn't know what was going to happen. Ratna wanted Arnav to marry a Princess who was not her.
"I will be the happiest person in the world if my brother's daughter became my daughter-in-law, who was full of values", Ratna said smilingly, looking at Madhavi, who brought a voluntary blush on her face.
"See, how she is blushing!" Ratna smiled, and Madhavi hugged her.
Khushi started losing hope. She felt bad for Arnav and Arvind, and she didn't know how both father and son would console Ratna, who wanted her brother's daughter as her daughter-in-law.
"Ok, Anna. I will ORDER Arnav to marry Madhavi. I will consider him only if he agrees to the marriage," Ratna said.
The trio smiled brightly as their plan worked out.
"Thank you so much, Ratna... you honoured us", Savithri said.
"Why are you saying that, Anni? (Bhabi) Who would not like to have such a beautiful daughter-in-law?" Ratna asked.
Their faces glittered in pride, and Khushi's face drained.
Ratna looked at Khushi and asked,
"What say, Khushi? Am I right?"
"You have already given them words, aunty. What's there to talk about it further?" She asked.
"Khushi, you are like my daughter. You have every right to tell me anything"
"Thank you, Aunty. I have to go." She left the place.
"See, how arrogant she is!" Chandra Murthy said.
"She didn't say anything wrong, though. After giving words, asking her opinion is unnecessary. It seems like eyewash," Ratna said regretfully.
"Ratna, the life you gave her is something she would not get. If you had not been there for her, she would have been in an orphanage, with no one for herself. She should be grateful to you," Savithri said.
"She is... I have no doubt," Ratna said.
"No, Ratna. You don't understand people. She is so selfish. You would get to know that soon. Mark my words."
"Did she do anything disrespectful?"
"Don't ask us about it. Your husband pampers her a lot. She doesn't respect any of us," Chandra Murthy said, disappointed.
Ratna again became thoughtful.
............
Khushi came to her room and cried. No matter how hard she tried to be strong, she could not hold herself. She wanted him in her life, but didn't want any rift in Arvind's family. Ratna recovered after a long time. Making her disappointed was not her cup of tea. She stood up and wiped her tears. She left the Palace and headed to the Kalabhairava Temple.
When the time came, she stepped into the temple and looked at the Kalabhairava Temple; she sensed something smooth on her leg. She looked down and found the black dog standing close to her. She was supposed to step back, but stopped seeing the dog lying on her feet. She looked at the Kalabhairava temple and asked,
"What are you trying to tell me through this?"
The Mystic's voice echoed in her ear.
"You will become the Queen of this Palace"
She knelt in front of God.
"I know you will be there for me, and the mystic word will become true, but Arnav, sir, will have to cross the terrible phase of his life. He is the only one who stepped into this village. He even met Siddhas. Please don't make him regret coming to this village. Give him peace of mind," She prayed.
She saw Arnav getting out of the car and seeing her in the temple. Khushi gulped down. She didn't know whether to tell him about Chandra Murthy's plan. He would go to the Palace and create a big scene if she told him. Ratna would get disappointed with her for doing that. Even though she didn't, Murthy and his family would trigger her against her.
However, Arnav would face Ratna soon. She wanted to see how much Arnav would stand firm. She looked at the Kalabhairava statue, and at the same time, a flower from the statue fell down, making her realise her decision was correct.
To be continued...
