 Part 70 Wedding Preparation

Arvind went to meet the Pandit of the Siddha Temple and returned, all nervous. Arnav and Khushi were waiting for him. They looked at each other, seeing him nervous, and rushed to him.

"Appa, what happened? Why are you looking nervous?"

"Why won't I be nervous if we have only a week for your wedding?" Arvind asked seriously and smiled.

Arnav and Khushi were stuck for a while and smiled at each other.

"The Pandit said, there is a date in the next week. If you don't get married on that date, your wedding will not happen for the next two years. Even though it happened, you can't be together. So, I fixed your wedding on the same date."

Arnav and Khushi were shocked.

"But why?"

He nodded no.

"I don't know, and we don't have to bother about it because your wedding is next week. And that's final. I have a lot of work to do."

"But, Appa, we have auditing too..."

"Sathya will take care of it."

"No Appa, we should not leave it to him. He doesn't like Murthy Brothers. The auditing should be neutral. Or else, it will not be justified."

"Don't worry... we have many people to look after the wedding work. So, I will get time. Even though we are busy, we will postpone the auditing because it's not important that your wedding."

"But, Appa..."

"Relax... Murthy brothers are already in trauma. They have the biggest mission, which is to coax their respective wives. So, we can do our work relaxing."

Arnav nodded affirmatively.

Ratna came there.

"What happened? What did the Pandit say?" She asked.

"He asked me to fix their wedding next week."

"Oh, wow... that's great..."

She smiled at Khushi and said to Arvind,

"Call the silk saree shop owner and jewellery shop owners. We will get the wedding sarees and jewellery for the wedding."

"It's your department. You can do whatever you want." Arvind said.

"No, no... I'm not going to do that, but my daughter-in-law. She is the one who is going to wear them, so she should select them."

"Maji, get anything but simply..." Khushi said.

"Simply? Khushi, you are going to become the Queen of this Palace. Don't you dare think of being simple. Ok?"

Khushi sighed and Arnav smiled.

The Murthy brothers, who heard their talks, fumed. Here they were hanging at the edge of the rope, and their sister and brother-in-law were busy arranging their son's wedding. How cleverly, the father and son tricked their respective wives! They demolished the respect they saved in the past years. To do that, they should have to answer. They should pay back.

Chandra Murthy looked at Krishna Murthy.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

Krishna nodded yes.

"We so wanted one of our daughters to become the Queen of this Place. This father and son demolished it. Because of them, our wives left us. We should not leave them. This wedding should not happen. They should regret what they did."

"Do whatever but correctly. Don't be careful."

"I won't be."

"The wedding is next week. If they start the wedding work, they will not leave the palace. It's a custom. We won't get any chance to finish them then."

"They don't have to leave the palace. We will plan accordingly. If I get a chance, I will kill all of them."

"Do it..." Chandra Murthy said sternly.

Krishna Murthy looked at him questioningly, and he nodded his head.

"If they die, we will become the sole owner of this palace. Then, our wives will run to us, forgetting all the past deeds."

"Yes, you are right. They will come back to us if this palace becomes ours."

"How will you implement it?"

"Do you remember, when we dug the well for our farm, we brought an explosive for the purpose."

"Yes, we did... You were the one who took the responsibility."

"Yes, but I didn't use the explosive completely but kept the remaining safely..." He said and stopped without completing it.

But, Chandra Murthy understood what he was supposed to say. He smirked.

"When are you going to do that?"

"Before the wedding..."

"No. Do it on the wedding day because everyone will be busy on that day. If we do that previously, they will not be busy and will keep their concentration everywhere."

"Ok. Then, we will do that on the wedding day."

"Make sure, we should not be at the Palace that day."

"No problem. We will leave, giving the excuse of a court case."

"Excellent idea!"

They planned.

The wedding work started in full swing. The palace servants decorated the palace enthusiastically. On the other side, Ratna brought sarees and jewellery for Khushi. Ratna changed Khushi's dressings completely. She looked like a Princess. Arnav's feet didn't touch the ground. He felt like he was floating. He could not avert his gaze from Khushi. The thought of marrying her delighted him.

Arvind came to Arnav and said,

"We will go to the Shiv Linga and do Abishekam before the wedding. After all, you found it..."

Arnav nodded.

"We will go tomorrow. Be ready..."

"Ok, Appa."

"Ask Khushi to accompany us."

"Ok... will not Amma come?"

"She will..."

Arnav nodded.

"We have to name the Shiv Linga tomorrow."

"How will we choose?" Arnav asked.

"We don't have to choose it. Mahadev himself will choose it." Arvind said, and Arnav raised his brows, wondering.

Night

Arnav was lying on the bed, thinking about his wedding with Khushi. His waiting will end soon. He was going to hold Khushi's hand after waiting for two births. His eyes caught sight of something. he jumped off the bed and rushed to the window. He slid the curtain and looked outside. He saw a fire in the cemetery, but there was no one near it. Without thinking of anything, he rushed out towards the cemetery. When he came to the cemetery lane, he stopped seeing Kasi, the undertaker, standing at the corner.

"Your highness, where are you going?" he asked.

"To the cemetery..."

'No no... You are a groom. Your wedding is scheduled to take place in a few days. You should not step into the cemetery."

Arnav looked at the cemetery in a searching manner.

"Whom are you searching for?"

"Nothing... why is there a fire?"

"I just burnt unwanted things... the cemetery looked dirty..."

"Why don't you do that in daytime?"

"I wanted to do it. Now, I didn't get sleep. That's why I did that."

"Mmm..." Arnav said disappointedly, not seeing anyone in the cemetery. He expected Gorakhar to be there. He turned to leave the place, but stopped hearing.

"Thank you, your highness..." Kasi said.

Arnav looked at him frowning.

"For what?"

"Because of you, I'm going to get a house and new silk clothes..."

"Silk clothes?"

"Yeah, the king will provide them on your wedding day."

"Oh... and house?"

"He promised..."

"Is it?"

Kasi nodded. Arnav felt blissful. He was happy that Kasi was going to get a house. Arnav smiled.

"Thank you so much, Your Highness. Kasi Viswanath will always be with you. Don't worry..."

Arnav smiled and headed back to the Palace. He took a few steps and stopped, horrified, seeing Kasi coming towards him from the opposite direction. He turned behind, jerking. The place looked empty.

To be continued...
