Part 9 Another Drama
Khushi looked at her palm and got stuck. What's this? Who wrote "A" in her palm? She saw a small girl standing beside the doctor. She must be the daughter of the doctor. There was a pen in her hand.
Showing her palm, Khushi asked the small girl through gesture.
"What is this?"
The little girl answered smilingly,
"A", She said, thinking that, Khushi is testing her.
Khushi smiled nodding NO. She thought that the letter "A" was written by the girl.
Taking her bag, Khushi left the hospital.
Khushi was upset... she was supposed to attend an interview. She missed it as she fainted. She sighed and went to her home with disappointment.
GH
She saw the house being opened. That means Garima is at home. Why?
Without making noise, Khushi checked Garima's room. She was doing something in her steel cupboard. Khushi slowly peeped. Garima hid the thing hurriedly, sensing Khushi's presence.
"You no need to hide it from me... because I have seen the chain." She said casually.
Garima kept the chain in the locker and locked it. Yes, the same chain which Arnav wore on Khushi's neck.
"Why are you remembering something again and again which makes you upset?" Khushi asked her sadly.
Garima was silent.
"Can't you just throw them away from your mind? Such heartless people they are." She said gritting her teeth.
"Not all of them, Khushi... Avinashji was a great person I had ever seen..."
This time, Khushi was silent as she couldn't deny Garima's words.
"He treaded your father as his own son..."
"But he is no more Amma...There is no use of talking about him."
"Ratnaji also a good woman but she is tied up..."
"Amma, please... stop discussing them. I don't want to think about it... it makes me irritated whenever I think how Subhadra Raizada evacuated us from the house," she said furiously.
"I too don't forget that Khushi. I just thought that..." Garima got stuck.
"I know what you would have thought... Please forget about it."
"I too trying to forget it Khushi... but I just can't... don't know why?" Garima said miserably.
Khushi rolled her eyes gulping down.
"If Subhadraji would not have sent Chotte Malik to abroad..."
Cutting her...
"Amma please... don't be in the dream world... Your Chotte Malik could have done nothing even though he stayed in India."
"No Khushi... they sent him abroad only because he kept in touch with us," Garima said.
"So... so what? We knew how heartless that Subhadra Dadi is. Their world is a different world in which we can't live... especially with Subhadra Dadi... Even though Avinash Dada is alive she would not have let the marriage happened. Even though the marriage had happened she would not let me be in peace. I don't want to think about it. And I don't want you to think about it. It's over."
Khushi was not wrong and Garima knew it. She was also upset with Subhadra's behavior towards them. In fact, she was also not interested in marriage. but she was afraid of Khushi... Garima doesn't want Khushi to think about Chotte Malik any more. So, she often makes Khushi remember what Subhadra had done to them. So that she will never think of Chotte Malik. Being a self-esteemed woman, Garima doesn't want her daughter to be weaker.
"Ok... cool down. What about your interview?" She changed the topic.
"I missed it." She sighed.
"Why? How did you miss it? You were so curious in the morning?" Garima frowned.
"I fainted..." Khushi pouted.
"What? What happened to you? How did you faint?" Garima panicked.
"I too don't know, Amma. I was waiting for my bus at the bus stand. Suddenly, I felt something abnormal. I don't know what happened to me... I found myself in the hospital when I opened my eyes." She recited the story.
"What the doctor said?" Garima asked worriedly.
"She said it happens sometimes..."
"We will do normal check up tomorrow." She said with concern.
"Amma... don't get panicked. I'm alright."
"Shut up... I won't listen to you in this matter."
"Ok... ok... by the way, don't you go to work today?"
"Ranadeji is going to their Kuldevi Temple with family..."
"Ohh..."
"Go and get fresh... let's have lunch together."
"Okkkiiii..."
Khushi went to her room to get fresh.
Evening
Arnav looked moody, thinking about the girl with whom he got married. He couldn't realize why he is so much worried about her. He refused to come out of the room. But he couldn't refuse to open the door when Subhadra knocked on his door. He sighed and opened the door. Subhadra smiled at him.
"Yes, Dadi..."
She extended a bit of paper towards Arnav.
"Chutki's address..." She said smilingly.
Arnav looked at her unbelievably. His facial expression changed into a charming smile. He took the paper bit from her hand excitedly.
"From whom you got it?" He asked.
"I often meet a woman in the temple who is Garima's distance relation. I thought she must know Garima's address because she went to Lucknow for marriage last year. As I expected, she knew. I got the address from her."
"Thank you, Dadi."
"It's my pleasure to do what you want, Arnav." She left the place smilingly.
Arnav came to Ratna's room all delighted. Ratna looked at him surprisingly. She witnessed him so gloomy a few hours ago. What happened to him all of a sudden? More to her surprise, he hugged her cheerfully.
"Chotte... what's the matter?"
Arnav broke the hug and showed the paper. Ratna snatched it from him and read. Her face brightened, seeing the address.
"How did you get it?"
"Dadi gave me..."
Ratna's facial expression changed instantly. She looked at Arvind couldn't know what to say.
"I'm going to Lucknow tomorrow..." Arnav said.
Ratna nodded ok nervously. Don't know what stored there for Arnav in Lucknow.
"I will book your flight ticket," Arvind said.
"My friend Aman is also coming with me..."
"Ok, I will book two tickets."
"Thanks, Dad." Arnav went to his room.
"I'm scared..." Ratna said.
"Let's wait and watch... everything will be revealed tomorrow," Arvind said.
Arnav called Aman and told him to be ready in the early morning. Aman readily agreed. Arnav could not sleep in the excitement. He is going to meet Chutki after ten years. Don't know how she will look like. He closed his eyes and tried to sleep. But nope. When his eyes closed slowly, the alarm screamed. Arnav sat on the bed jerking. He got ready and left the RM after taking blessings from Ratna. Picking Aman from his house, he headed to the airport. They boarded the flight cheerfully.
Arnav landed in Lucknow with Aman. They hired a taxi. Arnav gave the address to the taxi driver.
"We want to go to this place."
The taxi driver read the address.
"You have to pay eight hundred rupees, sir. This is place is far away from here." He said.
"No problem...take us to the place," Arnav said.
After an hour of the ride, they reached the place.
"This is the address you asked for." The taxi driver said.
They got down from the taxi and Arnav sent the taxi driver, paying the amount.
Aman could see the excitement on Arnav's face.
There were four houses in the complex. It was visible that those are middle-class rental houses. They saw a man in forties, wiping his old bike.
"Excuse me..." Aman said.
The man looked at him questioningly as our friends looked high-class.
"What can I do for you, sir?" The man asked politely.
"We want to meet Garimaji," Aman said.
The man's expression changed.
"Who are you to her?" the man asked.
"We are her distant relatives." Aman replied
"Don't you know about her?" The man asked them.
Aman looked at Arnav and nodded NO.
"She is no more..." He got the thunder down in their heads.
"Whaaaat! Arnav and Aman let out their shock.
"Yes, she died a month ago..."
"What about her daughter?" Arnav asked urgently.
"Don't ask about her... because of her, Garimaji died..." the man said sadly.
"Why?" Arnav asked nervously.
"She eloped with a guy, making her mother bow down."
Arnav's expression was not to be described in words. He was broken into pieces. He couldn't believe Shashi the man of honor's daughter could do that.
"Poor Garimaji... she couldn't stand her daughter's deed. She fell ill and died last month and her daughter didn't even attend her funeral. Don't know where she is..." the man completed.
Aman's eyes were only on Arnav, reading his expression. He doesn't know how Arnav is going to overcome this matter... he was feared to death, seeing Arnav's face.
At that time, an old lady came out of another house.
"Who are they?" she asked the man.
"They are here to meet Garimaji." The man told.
"It would have been good if you had come last month... She left the world like an orphan because of her daughter, Chutki..." The lady also told the same story.
Arnav started taking back steps as he couldn't hear more about Chutki. He turned around and fastened his steps. Aman rushed behind him.
"ASR... please, don't lose yourself..." Aman touched his shoulder and Arnav shrugged his hand off of his shoulder.
Arnav stood, said nothing. He doesn't know what to do. He never dreamt of this moment in his life. He thought Chutki also will be waiting for him. But nope... she deceived him. He was fed-up as he couldn't keep his grandfather's promise. He sat on the cement bench in the bus stand. Aman sat beside him, couldn't know how to soothe him down.
In the meanwhile
The man who told Arnav about Garima called Subhadra. She attended the call as she was waiting for his call.
"Your grandson came here. I said what you asked to..."
"Did Arnav believe you?" Subhadra asked.
"Of course yes.... you should have seen his face..." the man said proudly.
"Well done... you will get the money in a few minutes."
"Thank you Shubadraji..."
Subhadra disconnected the call, smiling devilishly. She was satisfied as she had done what she planned. But she doesn't know the God's plan was something. She thought she could keep Arnav away from Khushi. but... if destiny wants them to meet, Khushi herself will come in front of Arnav... Soon...
To be continued...
