Part 19 Boomeranged...
Khushi stood, not knowing what to do but Sheetal started shouting not waiting for anything.
"Where is he? Where is my servant?" she asked struggling to stand.
The peon who knew Sheetal well rushed to Arnav's cabin.
"Sir..."
"What?"
"Madam..."
"Who?"
"Your wife..."
"Wife?"
"She is here sir"
"Oh... ask her to come in"
"She is not in the state sir" he hesitated.
Arnav straightened himself.
"Is she drunk?" he asked without hesitating.
The peon nodded yes, bowing down. Arnav gritted his teeth, fisting his fingers into balls. Taking a deep breath, he took very few seconds to think.
"Do what I say" he said.
The peon nodded ok.
Arnav instructed him to do what he should do. Then, he came out of the room and found Sheetal doing atrocity and the staff of the school standing around her. They were about to leave the place, seeing him,
"No one should move... not even a step" Arnav's voice sounded like a warning.
All of them spared a glance at one another shockingly. Khushi was gazing at him with mixed feelings but Arnav didn't spare a glance at her. Sheetal heard his voice and looked at him, blinking her eyes as he could not see him clearly due to the intoxication.
"Here... he is..." Sheetal came to Arnav.
At the same time, Manju came there and was shocked, seeing intoxicated Sheetal. She took a step towards them but stopped, seeing Arnav gesturing her not to. Manju stood helplessly. What was there in Arnav's mind? Why did he not want her to stop Sheetal? She could not understand anything.
"How dare you ask me the reason for money? Who are you to ask me the reason? Is this your father's money? Noooo... my father's money. I will spend it as per my wish. I will roam around the world with anyone I like... who are you to question me? Who? After all, you are a servant of my father... From where did you get the courage of questioning me? I'm Sheetal Kapoor...I will do anything. This is my property. This is my school. Everything is mine... understand? you, shameless bagger..."
Manju who was silent so far due to Arnav's gesture lost her patience completely. She walked to them and pulled Sheetal towards her. In no time, a strong slap fell on Sheetal's cheek. Sheetal struggled to stand who was already intoxicated.
"Hey... how dare you slap me..." she blathered.
"Don't you dare raise your voice at Arnav! How dare you tell him shamelessly, you shameless B****. Because of you, he lost his life. Because of your father, he married you who was carrying someone's child." She shouted.
The hall went pin-drop silent. All of them were shocked at her utterance. A few let out a gasp and a few closed their mouth in shock. Arnav looked at Khushi for a second and averted his gaze from her. All of them started gossiping with one another.
"You stole his initial for your daughter... he is living for the child who is not his daughter... Because of your cheap character, he could not be able to marry the girl he loved from the bottom of his heart. Still, he is dying in her memories" Manju again slapped her hard.
Khushi looked at Arnav who was gulping down hard, gazing at her. though Khushi already knew the truth hearing it in front of Arnav gave her numerous pain in her heart.
Clutching Sheetal's collar, Manju dragged her with her. Shyam came there and stopped Manju.
"What are you doing? Do you know who she is?" Shyam asked furiously.
"I know very well who she is... better than anyone. Stay away. or else..." Manju intimidated him, raising her finger.
Manju looked at Arnav.
"I will drop her home"
Arnav blinked his eyes.
"I will drop her home," Shyam said and about to clutch Sheetal's hand, Manju shrugged his hand.
"I said, stay away..." she pulled Sheetal with her.
Pushing her into the car, Manju sat inside the car and ordered the driver to take them home.
Arnav stood still and ran his eyes on the staff. They started dispersing one by one murmuring with one another. It was clear that Sheetal completely lost her respect. Though she came to insult Arnav her arrival made his RESPECT tenfold among the staff. Manju turned the table opposite to her and made her like trash.
Khushi was standing, not having an idea to move. She felt like someone was squeezing her heart. What a terrible life her Arnav was leading.! Was he undergoing such pain in his life? Her eyes pooled up. She felt more pain when Arnav smiled at her. he went back to his cabin. Khushi could not hold herself but followed him. She entered his cabin without knocking on the door... without getting his permission. Arnav turned towards her, hearing the CLICK. Arnav was surprised, to see her. He nodded no painfully, witnessing her teary eyes.
"Why did you let her shout at you in front of everyone? Why didn't you just take her to your cabin?" She asked choking.
"I could have done it today but what about tomorrow? We are celebrating independence day in our school. We have invited the district collector as chief guest. The parents of the students also will be present at tomorrow's program. What if she does the same tomorrow? What can I do then? She would definitely do it if she didn't get satisfied. That's why I let her do what she wanted. She just wanted to insult me... she did"
Cutting him,
"No... she failed to do that. Everyone got to know the truth. People won't be supportive of such a woman"
"So what if people don't be supportive? Will anything change?" Arnav asked painfully.
Khushi felt her throat choking.
"I'm... I'm sorry. I misunderstood you. I thought you..." she bit her lip.
"Betrayed you?"
Khushi closed her eyes, letting her tears flow down.
"Khushi, what I said, what I showed, what I felt, everything is true. If I deceive you, that means, I deceive myself. According to me, you and I are the same, Khushi... I can't be happy after making you spill tears." He extended his hand to wipe her tears but fisted it.
Khushi clutched his hand and cried, leaning her forehead on his hand, making him emotional.
"Khushi please, don't cry"
Khushi left his cabin hurriedly. Wiping her face, she came to the staff room.
"How pity... Arnav Sir's life seems so tragic"
"I have never seen such an arrogant woman"
"After spoiling his life, she behaves like, he spoilt her life"
"Don't know how Arnav Sir is tolerating her"
"Why would he tolerate her? He has to divorce her"
"I think he is tolerating her only for Khushi"
"I don't think she cares for Khushi"
"How great Arnav sir is... besides he accepted her as his child, he is loving her unconditionally"
"Poor child, how unlucky she is to get such a heartless mother"
"I never know Arnav sir lives such a terrible life"
The staff talked about Arnav, Sheetal, and Baby Khushi. Khushi sat on her seat, listening to them.
That was when Shyam came there.
"Listen, don't talk about anything unwanted. You are here to do a job. If she gets to know you talked about her, she will fire you. Mind it"
"If she is so much concern about her respect, she would not have come to the school in the drunken state," a senior teacher said without fear.
"It's none of your business, madam. Just mind your work"
"Sir, you too mind your work... Your BOSS already demolished her respect. You don't try to build it up" Another one mocked.
Shyam looked at Lavanya who glared at him. Shyam left the place silently.
"Why Shyam sir is voluntarily spoiling his name?" One of the teachers said.
"How shamelessly he built up a story about Arnav sir that day," Lavanya said in a low tone, gritting her teeth.
Khushi gulped down hard. Only she knew how tense she was that day. Of course, she was tense now also about Sheetal. She never expected a woman would stoop low for money. And the woman was none other than Arnav's wife. How pathetic!
But, Arnav's condition was opposite to Khushi's. He felt relieved because Khushi got to know he was not the father of baby Khushi and also about his permanent feelings for her. Hereafter, he won't have to mind if Khushi forgave him because after knowing the truth, she could never be able to forget him. At the corner of her heart, he would be living forever. That mere thought gave solace to his heart where Khushi was living permanently.
To be continued...
