Part 63 Statement
Arnav came out of the hospital with Akash who looked dull.
"I'm going to AR. Are you coming?" Akash asked.
Arnav's mind worked quickly and it sparked with an idea.
"No, Akash, you don't have to come to AR. Go home and get relaxed"
"That's ok, Arnav. I'm all right"
"Yeah, I can see how all right you are"
"That's ok Arnav "
"Listen to me... Where is your car?"
"It's in the mechanic shop. I came by cab"
"Ok, I will drop you home. Let's go"
"I have some work in the office, Arnav"
"Don't I have? Work would always be there. We should take care of ourselves first"
Akash was about to say something,
"I said come. Nothing will change in a day"
Arnav walked towards the car and Akash followed him having no choice. That was a good chance to enter Maya's house unannounced. He didn't want to miss it. Arnav started the car. Akash took a seat next to him. Arnav rode the car toward Akash's house.
"By the way, how do you know Sheetal was admitted to the hospital?" Arnav asked.
"I went to her house to meet her. Her neighbor said she is in the hospital. That's how I got to know about it"
"Oh... Why didn't you tell her you are in love with her? Or, you could have told that to me or Aman at least"
"I was hesitating to tell her because I thought she would mistake me and would stop talking to me. Our friendship restricted me from confessing" Akash said in a gauzy tone.
"Mmm"
"But, I didn't expect she would have feelings for you," he said disappointedly
"Feelings..." Arnav murmured annoyingly.
"Yes... I thought her feelings for you is genuine. But now, after what she did, it didn't seem like love but obsession" He said furiously.
"Indeed... She became mad and we can't name it love" Arnav changed the gear with anger.
"I don't know she would be so cruel. She disappointed me"
"When you are in love with Sheetal, why did you agree to marry Khushi?"
"When did I agree to marry Khushi? I liked her soft-spoken and caring nature. I wished Sheetal be like Khushi. It was my mother who wanted Khushi as her bahu because she doesn't like Sheetal being behind you. And Ma liked Khushi's kindness very much"
Arnav knew anyone would like Khushi.
"That was why she was ready to take Khushi to your home when my family members said she should not be in the same house with me?" Arnav asked.
"She wanted to be with Khushi at least for a while. That's why she readily agreed to bring her home"
Arnav stopped the car in front of Akash's house.
"Take care" Arnav intentionally said to see what Akash would say.
"Won't you come in?"
Arnav smiled plainly.
"Come in, Arnav. It has been long since you come to my house"
"Ok... You go. I will come"
Akash nodded ok and walked in. Arnav went giving a little gap between them. He stopped hearing,
"I told you not to meet her... Yet, you went. Is this what your respect for me? I thought my son will not infringe my words" Maya shouted.
"Ma, please, be quiet. I'm already upset"
"Upset? Why won't you be upset if you are behind a girl who is behind someone? You are a moron who is in love with an arrogant woman"
"Ma, please..."
"Why are you suppressing me? Would anyone love such a haughty-headed woman? I don't like her from the beginning. Promise me you will not meet her again"
"I won't meet her... I just can't... Because She is in jail now. Happy?"
Maya was stuck.
"Jail? But why?"
Akash sat on the couch, without answering.
"I ask you something, Akash. Why is she in jail?"
"It's because she tried to make Khushi's uterus unfertilized" came from the entrance.
Maya looked at Arnav who was standing at the doorstep. She was stuck, seeing him at her place. More than that, his statement shocked her.
"Whaaaaat? Did she try to make Khushi's uterus unfertilized?"
Arnav nodded yes.
"I... Is Khushi all right?"
"Yes... In the tension of giving the medicine to Khushi, Sheetal herself had it" Arnav said hiding the truth of glasses interchanging story.
Maya glared at Akash in anger for loving such a worse character woman.
"Why are you glaring at him as if he is her partner in crime?" Arnav asked sarcastically.
"What are you talking Arnav? Why would he be her partner in crime? Don't say like that even for a joke" Maya was angry.
"What to do aunty, I'm in the position of suspecting everyone"
"What do you mean, Arnav? Do you suspect us?"
"I even suspect my shadow"
"What made you suspect us? What we did that made you suspect us?"
"You know very well Akash loves Sheetal. Then why would you ask Khushi's hand for him? Why did you readily agree to separate her from me when my family members didn't want her to be in RM? And more than everything, ( he took back steps towards the main door and pointed at the copper plate) what's all this? Your house looks like a black magician's place. From when did you start preferring such things? And why? What necessary?"
Maya and Akash were shocked. They didn't expect Arnav would strike them directly. Of course, Arnav was not habituated to beating around the bush.
"I don't know you have such doubt about me, Arnav. Do you think, I'm behind all the happenings of RM?"
"Ma, there is nothing to be shocked about it if he suspects. We didn't expect Sheetal to be so heartless but she is. If it is possible, there is no point in trusting anyone for Arnav. That's what made Arnav suspect not only us but everyone I suppose"
"If you doubt us, I ought to clear it. What's your question? I asked Khushi's hand even after knowing his love for Sheetal. Yes, I did because I know Sheetal loves you. Then, how could I accept her as my bahu? Not only that, I know Lavanya had feelings for Akash. He doesn't accept her because he had hope one day Sheetal would accept his love. But, I have a reason to deny her. Even Akash doesn't know that"
Arnav raised his brows whereas Akash frowned.
"I'm saying this because I have no choice. After my husband's demise, I struggled a lot to raise my son. I have none other than Akash. He is everything to me. Being my only son, I'm scared about his and my future. If Sheetal or Lavanya became his wife, they will try to snatch him from me because being modern girls, they can't understand my love for my son but Khushi would do that. She is a simple girl who has no one. So, if she married Akash, she would have been in my control and Akash would have been always with me"
Arnav gulped hard. Though Maya sounded selfish she was not wrong. If Khushi had become her bahu, she would be under Maya's control.
"But, I changed my mind when your marriage fixed with Khushi. I wanted to bring her here because I like her. I was not lucky enough to have her as my bahu, at least, she would be with me for a few days as my daughter... That's why I tried to bring her here but it didn't happen as you got her married all of a sudden. I was happy about your marriage yet, I was disappointed. I could not even spend a few days with her"
She looked at Akash who was looking at her unbelievably.
"Don't think I don't trust you. This is not about only you but also about your wife. Don't we see how many mothers are sent to old age homes?"
"We will discuss our issue later. First, clear Arnav's doubt about the talisman and the copper plate" Akash said.
"You know I went to Varanasi with my friends. Our guide took us to a shop near KALA BAIRAVA temple and asked us to buy them. He said it will protect our house from evil power because it's very powerful. All of us bought them. You can see them in everyone's house. When you found a witchcraft doll in your garden, I felt bad for not bringing it for RM. You are Ratna's son, Arnav. How could I think of doing bad to you?"
Arnav was silent. He didn't know if he trust her or not. He could not think all of them were built-up stories. At the same time, he could not trust them blindly.
"I thought you won't take them seriously becaue, I know you don't have faith in such things"
"I didn't believe... But, recent happening forces me to believe in them..."
"If you believe them, I will give you the shop's phone number. You can get them for RM. They will send you through Post" Maya said.
"Do you have the number?"
"Yes... Wait" Taking her mobile, she sent the phone number to Arnav.
Pulling his phone from his pant pocket, Arnav checked it. She had saved it in the name of, TALISMAN SHOP.
"Thanks, Aunty. I'm leaving" Arnav said.
Maya nodded ok with disappointment.
Arnav left the place.
In the meanwhile,
RM
Khushi saw Nani thinking something deep.
"What happened, Naniji? What are you thinking?"
"My mind is not at peace, Khushi. I feel like going to the temple"
"If you want to go to the temple, go Naniji"
"How could I go leaving you alone at home?"
"Then, I will also come with you"
"No, Khushi, without getting permission from Chotte, I can't take you anywhere"
"Arnavji gave me this new phone, Naniji. He asked me to share my live location if I go anywhere. I will drop a message to him"
"Chotte will not get upset, right?"
"He will call me after seeing my message, Naniji"
"Ok, then... Let's go"
After sharing her live location and dropping a message to Arnav, Khushi went with Nani to the temple.
