28 Cheater?
Part 28 Cheater?
Arnav and Khushi lay on the shore, panting hard. After all, they swam for more than half an hour against the current of the River Yamuna. Durga wasn't there. Khushi didn't bother about her. She knew Durga would be safe because she knew her ability. Arnav looked at Khushi, turning his head. He saw her closing her eyes, breathing hard. He sat looking at her. Khushi opened her eyes and looked at Arnav.
"Are you a CBI officer?" he asked, shrinking his eyes.
Khushi looked at him, barely saying anything. He stood up and lifted her by clutching her hands.
"Why did you lie to me? What do you think about me? Am I a toy to play with? Don't I have emotions and feelings? Who gave you the right to play with me? If you have a mission to trap Nandhini, you should have taken another way to do that. Am I looking like an idiot or what? How could you create an expectation in my mind? Didn't I tell you what you mean to me? Don't you know it's true? Or, do you think it's all a pretext to have you on my bed? Why the hell did you cheat on me, damn it...?" he shouted, making the surroundings shiver. But, Khushi silently read his eyes, where there was only wrath.
"What beautiful acting! What a great performance as an innocent girl! I heard CBI officers would do anything to trap a criminal, but I didn't expect the extent of this. You even slept with me... why did you do that, Khushiiiii?" he gritted his teeth.
He was stuck for a while and asked,
"Is Khushi your name, or that's also fake... just like your love?" Arnav panted hard and kicked the sand furiously.
"You know I love you. I told you that many times to make you comfortable with me. I don't want you to think of yourself low. Can't you understand that, Khushi?" he looked at her face, which was like crystal clear water.
Tightening his jaws, he held her upper hands and pulled her towards him.
"Why the hell are you silent? Answer me, damn it. Why the hell did you lie to me? Why did you choose me to trap Nandhini? Why didn't you do that in another way? Tell meee." He yelled.
He pushed her.
"You will face the consequence. I will file a case against you for cheating me. I tied my mother's mangal sutra on your neck, but you don't deserve it..." he clutched the mangal sutra in her neck.
Khushi held his hand tight and said,
"I didn't cheat you..." Khushi opened her mouth for the first time.
Arnav frowned.
"What do you mean you didn't cheat me? Then what will you name what you did to me?"
"Love..." She said, simply, and Arnav was taken aback.
"Whhhaaat?" his clutch on the mangal sutra loosened.
"Yes, I'm a CBI officer. But I didn't cheat you. I was not in a position to tell you who I am. To understand your feelings, it's not necessary to be a CBI officer; any girl would understand the depth of your love. I understood that when you tied your mother's mangal sutra on my neck. I never wanted to cheat you, Arnav..."
Arnav noticed she did cut off 'JI'. In fact, she cut it off when they escaped from Nandhini. Arnav didn't notice that, as he wasn't in a state to notice it.
"I never played with your emotions. I know you don't have to pretend your feelings to get me into bed. I know you could have had me in bed without even showing your feelings. In fact, I was brought to satisfy you. I don't forget that. I know what I mean to you. I'm glad about it..."
"What do you mean?" he frowned.
"I didn't come to your place to trap Nandhini..."
Cutting her off restlessly,
"Then?"
"I came to you to trap YOU..." She said, controlling her smile.
Arnav was taken aback.
"I so wanted to trap you. So, I decided to help my department guys, who were scratching their heads, not knowing how to reach Nandhini."
"Wha...at do you mean? Did you come to trap ME?" he stammered.
She nodded yes.
"Don't try to manipulate me. I just can't believe this. Please don't try to divert my mind..." he turned opposite to her and stopped, hearing,
"Your eyes have magic. Those magical eyes drive me insane. The smile on your lips bewitches me, and the glow on your cheeks takes my senses away. In every breath I take, there will only be your flow." Khushi said that.
Arnav looked at her in shock. It was the same lines that the girl who loved Arnav in college wrote. He was certain that Khushi hadn't read it the other day when he took it out of his cupboard. He tore it before she saw that. Then, how did she know what was written in that?
"How do you know the lines?" he asked her, reading her expression.
"Why won't I know if I'm the owner of those lines?" she asked, smiling.
Arnav was again taken aback.
"Whaaat?" he was bamboozled.
"I'm the girl who proposed to you through a library book, 'Marry Me, Stranger." She said with a mild smile.
Arnav looked at her unbelievably. She nodded yes.
"It was me. I expected you to meet me that day and wait for you, but you didn't come. I was suffocated, not knowing the reason. Later, I learned your wedding was fixed with Nandhini. I was heartbroken. I couldn't tolerate that because I expected your answer to be yes. I thought you didn't consider me. So, I decided to serve the nation and took the UPSC exam. As I scored high marks, I was given a chance to choose what I wanted. As I missed the thrill of my life by missing you, I decided to choose a path that's full of thrills. In fact, I couldn't forget you even in my busy schedule. So, I wanted to keep myself busy. So, I chose CBI. After a few months, our department got a complaint about Nandhini's mysterious activities. At first, I thought you too were on her team. But later, we learned about her relationship with Natasha. That shocked us to the core. We started thinking in a different direction to reach Nandhini. That was when she searched for a girl for you. I wanted to take the chance even though I was unsure about you. It was I who came up with the idea. At first, no one from my department was ready to accept it, especially my uncle. Then, I had no choice but to tell him my love story. He hesitated like hell to send me to your place because he knew how risky it was. Lastly, he agreed to my plan, keeping hope on me. I came to your place with a little hope."
Arnav was staring at her unbelievably. He could not believe that a girl could dare to this extent. He thought the girl who proposed to him was just a passing cloud in his life. But, nope. She was a rainy cloud who would quench his thirst for his whole life.
To be continued...
